So I was doing some research on attendance numbers across the league and we currently rank 10th in average home attendance numbers @ 18,642 Every team ranked 1 through 9 are all winning teams with the exception of the Knicks, with Isiah out and D'antoni in, that can explain their high attendance, that and it's New York. Anyways, the next 11 teams ranked 11 through 21 are also all winning teams with the exception of the Thunder (just got their team in town this season), the Heat (playing .500 ball as of this post), and the Wizards (not living up to their potential with Arenas out).
So these numbers are telling us that there are many winning teams including the Spurs, Suns, Rockets, Hornets, Magic, Hawks, Nuggets, and even the recent champion CELTICS can't fill up their seats at home as well as the Warriors can in the Oracle Arena. So, if YOU were Chris Cohan or Robert Rowell and you knew no matter how good or bad your franchise was doing, you would fill up the seats regardless, why would you put any effort into trying to make a winning franchise when you know even when you're losing, you still rake in the cash by the truck load? At least in other cities, your team has to win for you to fill up seats, but in the Bay Area, that's definitely not the case, us Warrior fans go to the games no matter how badly we're gonna get dogged any given night. If the ownership only cares about making money and doesn't care about actually winning, then we're screwed. The only way we can start winning and rebuilding this franchise is if there is new management that actually wants to WIN. Until then, we'll be the losers that can always fill the seats. Just my two cents, what do you guys think?
I was looking at the numbers again and it seems like that the percentages of how much the arenas are filled is a better indication at how well a team can fill up the seats, but even then, we are ranked 11th at 95.1% filled and we still have many winning teams below us that don't fill their seats as well as the Oracle does including the Raptors, Orlando, Spurs, Hornets, Cavs, and Nuggets. But it does put the Rockets, Suns, and the Celtics above us with the champs selling out with 100% filled every night.
