Around SBN: The Worst Team Ever Projected?

"No player is untouchable"

Multiple league sources indicate that the Warriors’ front office has been involved recently in casual or not-so-casual trade discussions with “everybody about everybody”–meaning every player on the Warriors roster and every team in the league. No player is untouchable. Chris Cohan is asleep at the switch or loves that Rowell is destroying his team or is about to sell or something. Ownership is imploding. This is 1999 all over again. San Jose Mercury News

I think the Warriors are almost guaranteed to trade Wright at some point before the late-February trade deadline. And I think, if they have any shot of moving Maggette, they’d have to include Randolph (maybe Wright AND Randolph just to move Maggette), which is such an abject surrender that I cannot imagine where they’d go from there. San Jose Mercury News

But around the league, the word is out: Don Nelson is desperate to make a deal, just make any deal, he’s more than willing to dump his best young players, and there’s nobody left at Warriors HQ to stop him. San Jose Mercury News

can you guys imagine the front office trading Andris, Randolph and Wright? I personally think these are the guys that should remain untouchable. trading everyone else but them is cool with me. Who do you think we should keep?

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

When your list of “untouchables” completely overlaps “players of value to other franchises” you have a tough time making deals.

The sort of return you can expect on Maggette and Jackson is limited by their contract length given their age and production. Azubuike and Turiaf are what they are, but you’re not going to radically improve your talent pool with anyone you get back for either of them. Crawford similarly won’t light the trade world on fire, especially with his deal running past the 2010 marker.

Watson? Morrow? Williams? They won’t bring you much and their contracts don’t allow you to take back much for them anyhow.

Ellis and Biedrins are tough to trade because of BYC issues.

If you want to make a deal, keeping Randolph, Wright and Belinelli out of the equation means you’re not going to make a deal that will mean anything. Taking their names off the list is an admission that the team strategy is to wait for one or more of them to turn into a star, and banking everything on that happening.

I’d rather keep Jack and Maggette and all the young players, than trade the young players in order to get rid of Maggette and Jack.

Face it, we aren’t going to make the playoffs this year, and most likely next year anyways. I say just keep all the young players, start them, at least give them some decent play time. Fire the coach, and rebuild the right way.

Nelly has wet dreams about starting Monta at center.

of the 3… i want to keep bellinelli the most. I realize shooting guards r a dime a dozen but i love his game. but just cause the other 2 r forwards doesnt mean we should keep them over bellinelli….

if any go though i want a biger guy in return

by Warriors510 on Dec 21, 2008 8:52 PM PST up reply actions

oh what 1 “good” week has done for Belinelli’s rep around here.

by sam23 on Dec 21, 2008 11:13 PM PST up reply actions

Give the guy a break...

He’s not going to make a real difference for us, but I must admit he’s a better player than I thought he was. He’s shooting 50% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc, and his per 36 #‘s look pretty good. I know it’s a small sample size but he is playing well (no quotes needed).

Especially Monta, Wright, Randolph, and Beidrins!!!!!!! The Warrior are clearly out of their fucking minds!!!!

there should be no untouchables

on our lousy team.

except maybe biedrins cuz good centers are hard to come by in this league…..but no matter what, unless your talking about a top 10 player, which we definitely do not have, im happy we’re open to making a trade.

by 3Kings650 on Dec 20, 2008 8:45 PM PST up reply actions

this team is bad enough

where calling a guy “untouchable” would be crazy. are there some talented young guys? of course, but on a team that is half full with young guys still putting it together and half full with overpaid vets, you might have to toss in a young guy to get rid of some of the dead weight and start rebuilding for real. could we trade everyone on the team for picks and just wait until free agency and the draft to start over completely?

CD’s were 90%… I picked up 4 Scarface CD’s, some misc. stuff from UGK, Toos short, Styles P, Beanie Siegle, Luda, Killa Mike, etc… wasn’t mad at all, picked up about 24 cd’s for like $38. Merry xmas to me LOL!

Gotta lotta music to listen to!

I wonder how great that team would be.

Oh wait, we already saw that team demolish the rest of the world.

Nelly has wet dreams about starting Monta at center.

by StSaints408 on Dec 20, 2008 9:44 PM PST up reply actions

It might just be me, but the links don't work

Untouchables are completely relative. If we are offered a trade where we obviously increase talent, depth and the contracts aren’t terrible, then whoever the other team wants for compensation they can have.

by Calamity on Dec 20, 2008 11:16 AM PST reply actions

Shame they didn't sign Baron

they would be .500 now waiting on Monta to come back

I understand that there are no “untouchables” on the Warriors but since they have really no stars what is the point of trading young talent other than Nelson is old? I mean its not like they are going to net a star that is going to push them to a championship so what the point?

Better to develop what they have now that they let Baron go

i swear

if biedrins or ellis get moved i fill find another team to watch

i might

but the warriors are our team, atleast they are my team. Even though they are not doing the best right now, I can’t stop rooting for my favorite team, i’ve been a fan for my whole life, i don’t know if i can stop now, but the warriors are clearly stupid if they get rid of our talent!!!

by Ali luvs monta on Dec 20, 2008 4:09 PM PST up reply actions

all i want is mags to be traded to say okc for joe smith and desmond mason… ride it out this year get some minutes from joe smith….. and retool in offseason.

give bwright till end of to show what he can do/were he is going….

the only way id part w/ him is an amazing offer (something like mags and bwright for okafor)

by Warriors510 on Dec 20, 2008 1:50 PM PST reply actions

infact....

even mags + bwright 4 okafor i’d think hard about….. as bwright is only 21

by Warriors510 on Dec 20, 2008 1:54 PM PST up reply actions

listen, they say this to SPARK THE PLAYERS

THEY WANT THEM TO PLAY BETTER GOD, DOES NO ONE KNOW WHO DON DELSON IS?!?!?!

by HoLdEmUP on Dec 20, 2008 2:11 PM PST reply actions

Yes

we do but Nelson is clearly not doing a great job right now. We all know he is a hall of fame coach, and he sparked the team in ‘06-’07 but u have to admit that he is being stupid right now by willing to TRADE OUR YOUNG TALENT!!!!! HE ISN’T PLAYING RANDOLPH AND IS BARELY PLAYING BRANDON!!!

by Ali luvs monta on Dec 20, 2008 4:13 PM PST up reply actions

trade machined this…3team dea

warriors get:
joe smith
mike conley
hakim warrick
Spurs first round draftp ick (owned by okc)

thunder:
mags
bwright

memphis:
wilcox
marcus williams

why for each team?
warriors:
cap flexibility (smith is off books and warrik has an option they could or could not pick up), a young PG
okc:
a scorer who could help them not have worst record of all time (although his contract is major detriment), young pf
Memphis:
real banger who could help them and is off books next summer, young pg

still dunno if i like it for warriors but i like hakim warricks game, hes improving daily, hard worker

by Warriors510 on Dec 20, 2008 4:09 PM PST reply actions

So....

The Spurs just give us a pick because they feel bad for us?

Nelly has wet dreams about starting Monta at center.

by StSaints408 on Dec 20, 2008 9:46 PM PST up reply actions

oklahoma city owns the spurs pick…. obviously they wouldnt give us therep ick (as itll be top 3) but spurs pick i project aroud 20…. if weve noticed there have been so many good players available around that period… ussually older players or international players w/ exerience who fall cause teams dont see enough ‘upside’ cause they r 21/22….

by Warriors510 on Dec 21, 2008 9:41 AM PST up reply actions

you dont know if you like it for the Warriors? they are the only team involved that wouldnt laugh at that idea. Memphis gives up the guy they think of as their PG of the future who is just starting to play well and has a fair amount of trade value plus an athletic young 4 for two guys at the same positions and are far inferior players? ummmmm NO.

The Thunder give up a 1st round pick, albeit a late one, plus a couple expiring deals to take on an awful contract and a rather marginal prospect? ummmm…NO The Thunder WANT to have an awful record this year to land local hero Blake Griffin and they WANT to have cap room to build around the young group of Westbrook, Durant, Green and probably Griffin. If they wanted Maggette at all they wouldve bid on him this summer.

by sam23 on Dec 21, 2008 11:20 PM PST up reply actions

i

would do anything to get mike conley here

by hoopscorer23 on Dec 20, 2008 5:06 PM PST reply actions

u like him that much>? see im just not sure, i go back and forth on whether he’ll be an top teir pg or a backup…..

by Warriors510 on Dec 20, 2008 7:49 PM PST up reply actions

he will

especially with players like ellis and biedrins were there with him

by hoopscorer23 on Dec 21, 2008 12:38 AM PST up reply actions

beans would be my only untouchable.

he would be way to hard to replace.

be the change you wish to see in the world.

by Rach on Dec 20, 2008 9:22 PM PST reply actions

agree

We don’t want him rushing his return and then get injured again. Didn’t that happen to Amare when he had the microfracture?

by Somar on Dec 21, 2008 10:12 AM PST up reply actions

different type m

most doctors agreed ellis didnt ‘need surgery’ it was ore preventative that anything. if you or i suffered his injury we’d be told to take it easy for a few months and see what happens….and if after 4 months progress isnt there then u get surgery….

of course ellis is an athlete and time isnt on his side to just sit and see. The surgery he had is highly successful, and doctor dont anticipate an problems….. probably just some rust

by Warriors510 on Dec 21, 2008 10:29 AM PST up reply actions

yahoo said he could be back for that game at the earliest because he’s not going on this road trip. I really doubt he’s that close. I’d say more like early Jan.

by sam23 on Dec 21, 2008 11:22 PM PST up reply actions

Forreal

I are you serious Montas coming back on FRIDAY against the C’s. I don’t want him to rush back but that would be a nice christmas give to us fans. And also that game will be on NBATV so i will be able to watch it. But i doubt he will be back for the rest of this year cause like 2 weeks ago he couldn’t even Dunk but i will not doubt Monta if he’s ready to go
