Odom...is he worth it, if so, can we get him and how?
I think someone did a post on this a couple months ago, but it had to do with giving up wright, belinelli and harrington for odom. It seems that now, trade rumors for odom are starting to come up again....
http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=11040
From this article it seems like LA is looking for a point gaurd. We NEED a solid PF. I like odom because hes versatile...he can run, shoot the 3, post up, has a decent mid range ect. But the problem with him is that hes been on and off like a light switch and on a team like ours, we need consistency night in and night out. I think that odom could definitely help this team with the skill set he has, he just needs to be consistent.
Now, Im no trade guru so Im asking you guys. Do you think he is worth getting? how could we land him? We are overloaded with gaurds, but if they want point gaurds, i would depart with nelson and williams and MAYBE CJ. I like cj but if belinelli steps up, then maybe we could stand to lose him. I dont know how this works out financially... Plus, I dont know why LA would do this.
I would include a shooting gaurd, but LA has no need for one. The only other thing I can think of is a draft pick. The way we are playing now, we would probably be giving up a high pick which in my opinion, would not be worth it to get odom (pg's + draft pick = NO!). Otherwise, we would need to get other teams involved.
Chime in guys...

the trade machine says it works with maggette, marcus williams, and buky. i’m not really sure why the lakers would do that trade but the numbers work. Odom suddenly seems more valuable after his performance against the Celtics.

do u not follow the NBA?
the coach and odom dont get along, and there is a lot of talk about odom being traded for a wing/pg

honestly i haven't heard a single word this season other than odom doesnt like being a 6th man
does that mean the entire organization makes the decision to trade him? doubtful the way they are playing.

that being said
i would LOVE odom on the W’s. he’s like what randolph could be except randolph is more talented.

dont you always hear about how odom and jackson dont get along and stuff? so just trade odom for maggs+marcus

can't happen... too bad
I don’t think there is anyone on the roster that the Lakers would want (with a matching salary). Their big need is PG.
Which is too bad, because I think Odom would ROCK at Nellieball. He is a pretty inconsistent shooter, but is strongest on the open floor.
But just wait, there is a good chance he’ll be a free agent next year.

I don’t get why the Lakers would make any moves. They are the best team in the NBA right now, they just proved nobody can hang with their tall ball game and Odom is a part of that.
I guess they might want to get a true point guard to move Fisher to backup, but of course Monta is out of the question, Crawford is more of a shooting guard, don’t think they would want him with Kobe. Bellinelli? Probably they think he is too inexperienced and the Warriors probably wouldn’t even trade him he has too much potential. Any other guards we have are not upgrades over Fisher, so I don’t see any possible way.
And why would they want Magette? He’s a poor man’s Kobe Bryant that doesn’t play defense. Doesn’t make sense.

the lakers want to win now.
any of these trades dont make them better. they really do not need to be any better, i think they can easily win the championship this year. so there is not a good chance this trade could happen, good idea, but highly unlikely.

4 team/19 player trade
Warriors get Lamar Odom, Vlad Radmonovic, Ricky Davis
Lakers get Baron Davis, Jermaine O’Neal, Stephen Jackson, Jamario Moon, DeAndre Jordan, Brian Skinner
Raptors get Chris Kaman, Corey Maggette, Marco Belinelli, Trevor Ariza
Clippers get Andrew Bynum, Jordan Farmar, Jason Kapono, Marcus Williams, Chris Mihm, Luke Walton

obviously thats 99% sarcastic, but it does work on the trade machine and it would leave:
Warriors starting lineup-Crawford/Monta/Randolph/Odom/Biedrins with CJ/Morrow/Buike/Wright/Turiaf on the bench with Davis and Radmanovic likely either being bought out or at the end of the bench.
Lakers starting lineup-Baron/Kobe/Jackson/Gasol/O’Neal with DFish/Vujacic/Moon/Skinner off the bench
Clippers starting lineup-Farmar/Gordon/Thornton/Z-Bo/Bynum with Williams/Kapono/Walton/Camby off the bench and Camby could probably be dealt for another young piece to add to a rebuilding core of Farmar Gordon Thornoton and Bynum.
Raptors starting lineup-Calderon/Parker/Maggette/Bosh/Kaman with Belinelli/Ariza/Bargnanai/Humphries off the bench.
In a way I could actually see a strong argument for all 4 teams making that deal, though a 4 team 19 player deal isnt exactly likely to ever happen.

You know... that trade doesn't end up bad at all for the teams involved...
I can see the Lakers taking a slight step back because their bench gets raped a bit… but it certainly looks nice on paper

yea they wouldnt be very deep but that starting 5 would be the best in the league and theyd be much much tougher and much better defensively….plus a 9 man rotation is plenty for the playoffs if they could get there without wearing their starters out too much.

that would be a terrible trade
because it would make me actually want to enjoy lakers games…jackson + baron reuinted…
NO NEVER, NOT IN A LAKERS JERSEY!

odom is a free agent
in offseason and will surely leave cause he doesnt start….
he’s an ideal 4 for nellie ball…. but y, he’ll be 30. if we move mags we can have him in offseason
by Warriors510 on Dec 28, 2008 1:28 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
if we can somehow moves mags contract by deadline...
i see us making a play for odom in offseason.
monta, craw, jack, odom, biedrins with bellinelli, buke, randolph, wright, turiaf…. not bad
if it was the case i’d consider trading wright for a PG
by Warriors510 on Dec 28, 2008 1:30 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
would anyone give odom max money?
who would pursue him in offseason?
if utah loses boozer…. maaybe? cant really think of other teams
by Warriors510 on Dec 28, 2008 1:33 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
everyones bearing for 2010 so he might get below market value + fact his numbers r down this year on the bench
by Warriors510 on Dec 28, 2008 1:34 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
Odom cant guard anyone
Thats why he comes off the bench. We have a younger, hungrier Odom in Randolph and he is sitting on our bench.
Odom is aging, getting slower, and would not be happy coming off a title contender to a team thats 8 – 22.
You can dream up all the quick fixes, but start focusing on next season.
