"Baron Davis Denies He Wants Out"
came across this article here:
http://www.latimes.com/sports/printedition/la-sp-clipperfyi30-2008dec30,0,759013.story
and my thoughts of this matter?
well to me (and maby because i want to hope), i think that the conversation with jackson and baron acutally happened, him saying that he wouldnt mind to come back and play with the dubs(who wouldnt), but he wouldnt want to take any heat from the fans, or press in la.
Honestly i think(hope) baron just said this to not piss any people off, but really, i hope baron does get traded back and start throwing up the good ol all oops to monta ellis. sorry to spoil anyones day with that article, it sucked to read that too, but i still believe, B.B.B.

yeah this article and BD’s statement is obviously an attempt at fire control. Im betting that it is ture that he never went to dunleavy and demanded a trade, but he did come out to jackson and talk about how much he would like to be back in GS and how much he misses it compared to his current situation. Fact is that BD would want to come back, would welcome a trade back, but will not officially come out and demand a trade back as he does not want to alienate himself, his teammates, or his L.A. fans for a scenario that is most likely not going to happen, as much as dub fans may hope it does…

I agree with you, although I am also thinking that Baron might be telling the truth in that article as well.
If Baron really wanted to go back to Golden State, he would keep it on the down low. And since Jackson spread the word out, Baron is coming out denying it, in an attempt to secure the trust that Clippers fans are giving him. He’s ready to settle in LA, but at the same time he wouldn’t get mad if he were traded back to the Warriors. Because if you were Baron and you see “Baron wouldn’t mind a return to Golden State” as a headline on some online sports site, you would think that it makes you look like an idiot. On the other hand, if Baron comes out and says he wants to stay in LA, but then suddenly gets traded back to Golden State, he can casually say, “What? I got traded back to Golden State? AW SHUCKS, I really want to stay here in LA; the Clippers would have done a lot of damage in the league”; but in his mind, he’s screaming for joy.
In a different scenario, Baron might definitely be wanting to stay a Clipper. The move to LA was quick, but it was also probably very stressful at first, since it was a surprise to the league and especially the fans in Golden State that grew to love him. In an attempt to make the move to LA become more easy with less guilt, Baron probably thought about all the negatives of the Warriors (in order to make the transition to the Clippers feel more like a breath of fresh air). Now that he’s done things to make himself NOT want to be a Warrior during the offseason, it would be such an awkward situation if he were suddenly back in Golden State; that’s why he wouldn’t want to go back. Actually, I don’t even know where i’m going with this. lol.
But i’m not sure what he’s talking about when he said his first year in Golden State was just as bad as his first year on the Clippers. The Warriors went 18-10 when they traded for him (and a 16-4 record in games that he started) and Warriors fans all over finally had something to look forward to. Meanwhile, the 05-06 season was pretty bad, but the Warriors started off 12-6 but then got injured; Baron also had a bad supporting cast on his team. The 06-07 season was also riddled with injuries (Baron out for 3 weeks, J-Rich out for 2 months, Ike out for a month, etc), and the team had to play with the Charmin Sisters (Dun and Murphy) for a majority of the first half of the season before they both got traded. Even then, the team still made it to the playoffs, but the team that shocked the world in the postseason only played 21 games together in the regular season.
The Warriors have always been a good team for Baron, there was always a lot of hope, unlike the Clippers team that he’s on right now. Sure, Baron is having a rough first year with the Clippers, but who knows if that team will even get any better? They’ll probably just get worse like always. If Baron goes back to the Warriors, he’ll be on a team with a better position to win than the Clippers.
I won’t get mad if he stays, though. Yay for somewhat-long posts at 2:35 in the morning. I gotta sleep and get up at 6:30am. ahh.

"and a 16-4 record in games that he started"
Nevermind that statement, I got it mixed up with our 16-4 run that led the team to the Playoffs in 07.
I think the real record in the games that he started in the 04-05 season was around 14-6.

The Warriors have always been a good team for Baron -?
hardly always
Baron got shipped out to us because he chafed under his coach, then when here chafed under Montgomery and was definitely so unhappy that Mullin tried trading him the same summer he tried trading Murphy, Dunleavy, Foyle, etc. but having found no takers Mullin traded Montgomery for Nelson. Baron had his best years under Nelson, then chafed and is now chafing under Dunleavy Sr.
the consistently common denominator here is Baron, who seems to always be chafing his coach …
yea BD would never demand a trade
you gotta keep your rep up in this league, and BD has tried to be classier since leaving the hornets. this is another example.
man, you have no idea...
i was just finishing my guiness, en route to my new xbox, with a big fatty bowl to top things off, to trade for beardo on my 2k9, and my dream is dead. every year since the first nba 2k i wait around, hoping for a trade to make our roster cool, so i don’t have to front and trade for lebron or whatever, and bleh, nothing…i don’t know about you guys, but my virtual warriors have had some serious pg woes of late…

today's convo
Baron: “Damn man, why’d you tell everybody!!”
Jackson: “My bad man, I let the cat out of the bag”
Baron: “Now I’m gonna be stuck playing under Dunleavy forever.. F*CK!”
Don't Believe the Hype
Ahh, good ole Chuck D and Flava Flav said it back in ‘89, "Don’t believe the Hype". BD is full of sh*t. I don’t trust what comes out his mouth after the crap he and Rowell pulled off in the summer. In fact, I don’t really trust anything the Dubs talk about anymore.
Mullin-JRich won’t be traded after the ‘06-07 season…Liar!
BD-I’ll be back as a Warrior for the ’08-09 season…Liar!
Monta-I hurt myself practicing…Liar!
Nellie-I want to coach for my entire term of my contract…Yeah right!
The front office has more issues than GM and Chrysler. After this season there could be no Mullin or Nellie because of all the disfunction. Can anyone see familiar dark days ahead? I hope not! Someone save us?
LOL

I think...
What he’s saying is similar to Jackson saying he would welcome a trade, if we kept getting worse. I think baron told Jackson he’d love to play for the Warriors again, but told LA he’s not trying to get out. Both can be true. He can not want to leave LA yet, but know that if the Clippers keep sucking, he’d rather go back to the Dubs.
Damage control
not fire control.
I’m guessing that BD and SJ were talking and both are aware that the BD’s move screwed up both the clips and W’s.
I don’t think the clips would take Maggs back – they prob feel like they dodged a bullet. i’m guessing they’d need Crawford, AR, Buike, 1st rounder to give us BD back.
I really don’t think BD is the long term answer – personally, I think Nellie is playing the young guys and gunning for a lottery pick. He has a great track record of drafting guards and having them contribute rookie season. (Hardaway/Sprewell). I’m guessing that’s the plan becaue the only available PG’s via trade or FA aren’t really “the solution” but stop gaps. Raymond Felton.? Please….

I would think giving up young talent to get BD back is a step backwards. BD’s 5 yr/65million dollar contract is a toxic asset and I would not give up good contracts (AR/Buike/1st rounder) to take back a bad contract. 3 yrs/39 million was reasonable.

well it looks like my maggs dont want to be a clipper again
"Who me? No. I love it here, man," Maggette said. "It’s been a big change for me. Fans here are absolutely great. That’s the biggest thing coming from Los Angeles. They have a mixture of Lakers and Clippers fans. Here, it’s the Bay Area team. They love their Warriors. That’s what’s great about them."
When Maggette missed those consecutive shots in a span of a humming bird’s flap,
Crawford simply looked at the bench and said, "Are you serious?"
well
i think theyd take jamal+bukie+1 first round pick
many jamal+1 first roundder
i mean were doing so bad thats a top 5 pic
it is lottery protected so NJ will never get our 1st round pick.

what were the odds
that baron would say “oh yeah, jack’s got it right. i really hate it here in my hometown, trade me immediately. well, if you’d excuse me, i’ve got to get ready to play in front of all those hometown fans who i just told that i want to abandon because the team is awful and not designed to maximize my skills at all.”
heart of a champion, will of the warrior.
It's all a step of it
First the denial, then the sudden trade , then he admits :D
"ohhh really? I never wanted to leave LA, oh well,CYA! "

I know the Warriors are a lot better than the way they're playing right now.
They just have to get healthy and dig deep. THERE'S MORE TO THIS TEAM.
