What Clippers Fans Have To Say About the Baron Talk
Hey everyone, I posted this fanpost over at Clips Nation, because it seems that us Warriors fans would be thrilled to get Baron back, but I was curious to see what Clippers fans had to say about it.
It was pretty interesting to see their opinions, but it seems that in any trade (either between two or three franchises) they would want at least an All-Star back in exchange for trading the Big Bad Beard, which is understandable.
There was also an interesting counter-trade in the comments, which involved sending Anthony Randolph, Marco Belinelli, and Corey Maggette away to get Baron and...Paul Davis haha.
Anyway, just an interesting read from another bad team's point of view.
This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Maggette and Belinelli plus some contract filler for Baron seems to make sense. Randolph AND Belinelli just to re-swap Maggette for Baron seems a little steep.

i wanna do
maggs + watson + williams for baron
think theyd go for it?
by DeepS on Dec 30, 2008 3:50 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
would you if you were a clipper fan?
No way. Belinelli, Williams, and Maggs for Baron makes some sense for both clubs though.

the hell
The Clippers are in far worse shape than we are. Why should we be giving up more to get Baron back?
Hell no should we be giving up Randolph or Belinelli, or any of our young talent. The contract that Baron comes with is just plain uglier than Maggette’s, when you factor in Baron’s old man knees.
by YaHeard on Dec 30, 2008 4:27 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
they arent going to simply swap Baron for Maggette, for the same reasons you wouldnt have wanted the warriors to make that move last year. Baron>Maggette. You’d have to throw in at least one young piece and seeing as how the return of Monta and Baron would squeeze Beli completely out of the rotation I’m fine with giving him up to get it done.

Yeah but Sterling does value Maggette for some reason...
Maybe they’ll take it. We did get Harrington and Jackson for Dunleavy & Murphy

nooooo
way would i give up AR, belinelli, and maggs for BD and freaking paul davis. i love you baron, but i would not do that exchange in a million years…
When Maggette missed those consecutive shots in a span of a humming bird’s flap,
Crawford simply looked at the bench and said, "Are you serious?"

Is there
an realestic chance that we could get Baron back?
by GSW9 on Dec 30, 2008 5:41 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
I disagree
I think theres SOME chance. Not a great one, but certainly some chance.

how bout this
by cakeman45 on Dec 30, 2008 5:53 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
they'll want more
It doesn’t matter the Warriors would never do anything to get Baron back, his contract would cripple them.
by T-Money on Dec 30, 2008 7:40 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
unlike Maggette’s which theyd be giving up which is so not crippling.

sounds good to me
except I want to give Maggette a chance to play here a little longer to show us if he is good for the team, meaning if he can stop being a ball hog most of the time and pass the ball and become part of the team instead of playing one on one.

or give him a little while longer to sit at the end of the bench and see his extensive wardrobe
the stop calling him "beans" movement

no to AR
how would they feel bout
jamal+maggs+williams+ronnie
by gswfan1 on Dec 30, 2008 6:09 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
why would we trade ronnie?
we need ronnie, he is one of our best defenders that we desperately need!

Ronny Turiaf should stay at all costs! Look at his contract and tell me that it doesn’t scream VALUE!

Trade Marco
now that he is doing good for this team? you realize he is the point guard right now
I will always be your fan JRich. Good Luck

you realize Baron>>>>>Marco? This is the problem….everyone wants us to play guys to beef up their trade value, then they put up some decent stats and everyone assumes they are a star in the making and doesnt want to trade them for anything. Trade Belinelli while his value is on the uptick.
by sam23 on Dec 30, 2008 9:52 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
This year is Marco>>>Baron just look at the stats

All this damn baron talk. Leave him alone. We really need to move on. Im not will to part with our youth for baron. Dont get me wrong. I loved it when baron was here, but need to move on.
by Butt Secks on Dec 31, 2008 10:18 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
ummmm no
Beli is shooting a higher percentage thus far (Baron is shooting a career low FG%) but Baron’s production here was never based on his shooting a high percentage. Baron has a fairly substantial edge in points, 3’s, blocks, steals, rebounds and a massive advantage in assists. So when you say “just look at the stats” I dont exactly know what you mean. Also Baron is having a very poor half year and doesnt appear to fit the Clips system nearly as well as he fit here, having watched Baron a few times this year I dont see anything that makes me believe he couldnt fit right back in. I’d prefer him over Maggette more than enough to give up Belinelli who seems to have convinced the majority of our fan base he is the PG of the future based solely on 10 decent games.
For future reference, maybe YOU should look at the stats before saying “just look at the stats.”
by sam23 on Dec 31, 2008 11:38 AM PST up reply actions 0 recs
alright
we should just face the truth now, theres no need in arguing if marco is better than baron or vice versa, because a trade for baron will never happen.

Ummmm YES Who is killing his team Marco or Baron?
Just go to the Clips nation and you will have the answer. And yes YOU should look at the stats.

this is the trade
by GsWBush on Dec 30, 2008 9:04 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
the clips
would never do that trade. trade 2 of their starters away for maggs and 2 of our bench guys…naww.

uhh
naw. lol the clippers would never go for it, and we dont have room for another swingman,
we akeady got monta, jack, bukie, marco, jamal, maggs,
honestly we need to get rid of jamal, and i tihnk we keep mags til we get a real big man, or until randolph develpops into a good player
by gswfan1 on Dec 30, 2008 10:35 PM PST reply actions 0 recs
thats why im sticking with the proposed trade that brings wallace and davis in…we ship out crawford (who i really like by the way) and get back a SF/PF who is ideal for nellie and this system…he fits the mold of Jax only more athletic and a better defender…we have plenty of guards, need to get more big, athletic 4’s and 5’s, and of coarse, the baron

reply button
i’m not gonna stop replying with this until you start using it. it’s annoying to read something when it’s supposed to be a reply to something like six posts ago.
"If you hit .440 with 20 bombs, you don't have to do s---. You don't have to bring a glove to practice, just hit and leave whenever you want. You can bring a 40 and smoke a cigarette and call me from the parking lot asking me what time the game is, and I'll tell you. You can even say 'F--- you, Steve!' Actually, don't say that, that wouldn't be very nice." -Steve Friend, Head Coach, Chabot College Gladiators Baseball

uhh
thats be cool, cept hes actually a 3, but sos maggs,
but really hes got 5 years left on his contract
well maggs does too..but we dont want a 4 with that much contract left, cause of anthony randolpg and brandan, and gerald wallace doesnt like to play the 4. so if he starts permanantly i can see him slowly getting angry and maby requesting a trade.

Whoa
Someone over there offered Baron for Monta. I’ve heard stupid, but that is just stupid. Someone go slap that guy, please!

do you know
how stupid it would be if we traded for Baron Davis?
we would then have to pay him a contract that we refused to give him and we would be giving up Bellinelli or Randolph or someone else.

Well duh
We basically get gold while we poop on the Bobcats and Clippers.

nellie's a loser
so, if we could trade HIM, plus jackson (the most overrated offensive player in the league), i would be happy with THAT.

I think...
Getting Baron Davis back is the dumbest move ever.
We should get Adonal Foyle back.
He’s a beast.
