Manny assist to Don
In these depressing times, when your team just looks like what they been the past decade, examples of determination and discipline can be especially inspiring. I want to give Manny Pacquiao his props over his dominating win against Oscar De La Hoya. Pacquiao now solidifies his number one status as the best pound for pound boxer, and a couple more Ws like this should make him one of the top ten fighters of all time.
Before the fight, many of the boxing writers saw the match-up as a joke, thinking that a fighter with height and reach, would be too much to handle for a smaller fighter with speed. Well, just the opposite happened, as Pacquiao's quickness and game plan overwhelmed De La Hoya and put the 35 year old in a position he had never been in his whole career.
In Boxing, the Pacman proved quickness and a great game plan can work if executed correctly. However, in the NBA, this concept does not seem to have the same effect. In Don Nelson's system, the small ball play has proved to work at times, but just not enough to get where his teams ultimately want to covet, which is the NBA title.
I have no doubt in my mind that Don Nelson is a hall of famer. But I think the time has come where either he has to change his style of play to a more defensive oriented team, or just hang up the gloves like De La Hoya should do. The reunion was nice......But I think now is the time to pull the trigger.
This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Didn’t you read the numerous articles by writers and boxing “experts” weeks and weeks before the fight predicting this a lopsided fight… for De La Hoya!! The oddsmakers made Pacquiao odds on underdog and DLH’s size and reach advantage was all the pundits needed to know to say Pac was an easy opponent. So to answer your question, “yes”, a lot of people really thought that Oscar was gonna win.
I pray i never have to use a gun again...
...unless i'm at a strip club parking lot...
...and somebody tries to run me over with their car...
...But how often does that happen??

crazy thing was
There wasn’t too much of a difference in weight and reach. The only real difference you could see was the height advantage that De La Hoya had. Obviously, it did not matter.
Speed kills.
I hope Monta doesn’t miss a step when he comes back.

Size doesn't matter as much
when you are old and slow.
Think Shaq. Still serviceable but no longer dominant.

Also
Freddy Roach (Pacman’s trainer) has trained Oscar De La Hoya in the past. Freddy knows Oscar’s style and weaknesses, and used it to Manny’s advantage.
Yee, another Warriors/Pacquiao similarty:
- “Don Nelson = Freddy Roach”
- “Oscar De La Hoya = Dirk Nowitzki”
lol.

comparing the warriors small ball to manny
is great.. totally fits. but unfortunately, with other teams in the league, Lakers, Jazz, Celtics, it’s as if Manny would be forced to fight Bernard Hopkins or something… not good at all for Manny/Dubs
screw cohan, screw mullin, screw baron
