Too many guards?
Is there such a thing as too many guards in Don Nelson's playing system?
I think so.
Currently we have 9 Guards overall on our roster (10 if you count Maggette as a swing-foward), about 5 of them are currently in the actual rotation.
I think we are going to have to trade one of them at least, to create a better balance of Fowards and Guards.
Personally, I would probably give up Maggette before any of the other players. I like Maggs, but the guy just doesn't bring the goods to the table for us and he's a viable trade tool. Sure he's probably THE BEST free-throw shooter on our team, as of now anyways. He isn't however showing us his elite ability to score. 19 ppg is great, but if you consider at the rate he's doing it. He's shooting a career low 41% fgp and 18% on threes. Injury prone galore. Not much of a leader, as Capt. Jack is, but he gets his silent assassin going once it's game time.
Jackson is almost a carbon copy of Maggette statistics wise. He's a plays pretty horrible when forced into the point guard position. HAHA Not as good of a free throw shooter, but can still get to the line. He's actually shooting below his career AVG of 41% at 40% this year from the field. Jacking up almost 6 threes a game, while hitting at a 30% clip. VERY turnover prone, but I suspect that to change when Monta does come back. Career high in APG at 6.3, but again the TO kill that. One thing that puts him above Maggette in my eyes, is his leadership abilities, he sets a good example for the rooks (& we have plenty of them once again) and isn't afraid to take the last shot, even if he's more than likely going to miss. He is also the best starting 5 defender behind Biedrins.
Watson is okay at best. He doesn't play great defense average passer for a PG and low court-vision. He hustles and earns his PT though and that's what keeps him in the rotation.
Anthony Morrow, shows flashes of brilliance and a sweet stroke. He's among the top in the NBA in 3pt % at 48 and can start a fire when motivated. Nelson doesn't do a very good job encouraging players, but we ARE building for the future, per say. Morrow is a future 2 guard.
Buike? C'mon we can't let go of Kelenna. The hardest working of our Guards and the best rebounder outside of Maggette. Chooses better shots than Jackson and out-hustles opposing players. He can be a lockdown defender ... Kobe, anyone? Career high in ppg at 13.4, although his 3pt % has dropped to 33%, good ft shooter, yet lacks the ability of Maggette to draw fouls. NASTY dunker, ask Chris Kaman. Arguably the best of the guards on the defensive end.
Jamal Crawford, newest kid on the payground. I like him. He's a killer on the court and has a mindset to win. Does anyone recall his game winners like last year/year before?Exceptional ball handling ability, crossover please? He can pass like a 1 when need be, minus the turnovers AHEM* Mr. Jackson. Not much of a rebounder on an already horrible rebounding squad of ours. Low fg% at 41% ala' Stephen Jackson. Decent court vision. SCORER. Great ft% at 89% taking 6 per game with our squad.
Marco Belinelli. Great shooter and decent passer, as seen in the summer league. He can definitely shoot the lights out when he gets it going, problem is that he never does. Chokes in the game & doesn't deliver. I rooted for him in the summer league, but I just don't think he's ready for it yet.
The OTHERS
DeMarcus Nelson & Marcus Williams seem to have fallen out of Nellie's favor. I still want Marcus to play AT LEAST one game. DeMarcus on the other hand, had his moments early in the season, but drifted to the bench as time went on.
So in your opinion which guard would you put up for adoption? We need a REAL 4, real fast. I know NONE of you will choose MONTA ELLIS, so I didn't bother putting him there. Hell, I wouldn't let him leave either.

if he ever could play, maybe we would know. but he doesn’t

id wanna drop a few players, i voted for maggs tho
we should get a big trade goin…lose:
maggs
bellineli
williams
watson (wont be needed when ellis is back)
i think for all these guys we could potential get something useful…possibly even throwing in K-Abz if it can get us a great big man
I Would...
DeMarcus Nelson is out of the way for now, but I’d get rid of Marcus Williams. I’d rather trade Maggette for a big man as opposed to anyone else at any other position.. C.J. Watson can back up Ellis when Monta returns to start with Crawford in the backcourt and Jackson at the small forward. Watson, Morrow, and Azubuike can back up those three. Belinelli can be at the end of the bench.

I choose Maggette
He is beyond injure prone and has at times delivered but he has cost us some games with his selfish playing and godawful three pointers. If we couldn’t trade him, I would trade Marcus, but he is a pretty good passer, but we never get to see him play so since he won’t be used, we might as well not waste anymore money.
We have been
aiming at a big man to go alongside biedrins or at least the fans have, for awhile now. We can’t keep running and gunning and not expect our players to get tired. We need to be able to switch from fast paced to half court Offense if we aren’t even going to play defense. I say we use Maggette to trade for a quality PF & looking at his career avgs. we could get a pretty decent 4 in return.
- iBall, do you?
i voted bellinelli
because he can get us something in return. williams can go too, but it won’t really help us that much i don’t think (obviously won’t hurt us either).
Too many guards...
Nooo… ya think?

same here
it’s a mob mentality here

belinelli, CJ, williams
Those 3 need to go. Belinelli < Morrow, thus making Belinelli useless. CJ is too small for a guard and I think Demarcus Nelson has more potential as a backup. Marcus Williams, well what can I say about him? Was supposed to replace BD to allow Monta to remain a 2, but hasn’t been able to perform.
Ellis to the RIM!
Monta for the win?! YES!
Nelson likes mismatches
why doesn’t just get a speedy line up and use it to beat people (the other team’s bigs)
a sick, spread out, motion offence…just keep moving the ball and set off ball screens. get lots of open shots and lots of driving lanes
yeah
but problem with that is if they miss a shot the other team will be able to make a easy interior 2. the small ball only works if you can shoot consistently and we don’t sadly.
So I don't have a signature well these words would do! Who knew that upgrades can have downgrades too!

yes please!!
I cant stand watching him play. What the hell were they thinkin when they extended his contract. Good luck trading him now.
Unless we buy him out
Maggs isn’t going anywhere for a while. Read Tim Kawakami’s article.
or any of the 400 posts i made about it
one more time: trying to trade a guy 2 1/2 months into a five-year contract is not going to help you in any way

Williams, Magette and Marco
Should be a nice package for someone in trade for something seriously useful to us right now, like somone who can defend?
It's about heart, It's about fight, It's about being a Warrior!
I’d get rid of Marcus Williams first, he serves absolutely no purpose, the epitome of Bench Warmer. Next, I’d get rid of Corey Maggette, ball hog, can’t do much else but drive and get to the line, and when he doesn’t do that and shoots the ball, he usually misses quite badly or even air balls. Those two should be gotten rid of ASAP!
WARRIORS BASKETBALL!!! Patiently waiting for a title...I may be waiting for a long time...
get rid of three guards
if your are complaning about maggs shot selection and not jax you have issues and the only reason jax gets to the line is because he stat pads at the end of games also marcus williams is useless cant shoot and demarcus nelson cant shoot also and isnt really a guard he played sf at Duke and he’s not going to cut it in the nba
