CWebb's First Practice

Just found this on Youtube, thought some of you guys might be interested in seeing this video of CWebb's first practice with the Dubs.  Some insight from Capt. Jack, Boom and Nellie...

Looks like he still got his mid-range dropping but it might be some camera work.  Let's hope that he hits those jumpers in critical game situations.  Overall, I can't tell by this video but Jack, Boom and Nellie seem excited.

here is the link.

nice
webber looks pretty smooth.. but then again so did belinelli... lol our practice squad are the players getting paid millions that Nelli doesn't give minutes to.

Thanks for sharing!
Good to know he can still shoot it, and he doesn't look like he hasn't been playing NBA basketball. Hopefully those aren't the only shots he made during practice. :)

Is it just me or
Did Baron seem kinda, down, and low key maybe cause he didn't make the all-star team.  You would think he would be a little more excited when talking bout CWebb or maybe he was just tired.  maybe I'm just trippin tho, oh well.

CAN'T WAIT FOR THE GAME TOMORROW

GAME OF THE YEAR SO FAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw that to...He kinda got excited after he said, "Well, he and Nellie have a past." and he kinda downplayed that a bit. (hehehe)

While were on the topic of CWebb
have any of you ate at his restaurant up in Sac?  First heard about it in that article of Nellie visiting his restaurant.  I'm out in Stockton alot so I was thinking that I might go there...I also see that alot of people say that it's the spot for good food. (internet blogs and what not)...Just curious...

I went there last season
before the final Warriors @ Kings game.  It's pretty much a fancy sports bar.  It's a little bit more expensive than other similar places and I wasn't super impressed with the food.  It's not bad I guess.  There's lots of cool sports memorabilia on the walls.

Anyones else spot
B Wright making a jumper no more than 2-3 feet inside the arc?  It looked pretty smooth too....

which leads me to think that one unexpected "side effect" of bringing in Webber is that he can show our young bigmen that they don't have to be solely focused on playing in the paint, rebounding, and scoring in the post.  Notice that most of the clips showed webber setting up in the high-post/elbow: he's not really athletic or strong enough to back defenders down or take them off the dribble from this spot but he can shoot and pass with the best of them, so it works.

This excites me for two reasons: 1) as Nellie said, once one guy makes it a point to pass, and especially does it with style, that affects the rest of the team & 2) Wright will get a first hand look at how a skilled big actually performs, and Wright has a lot more physical tools than the Webber of 2008.

One can only hope he'll begin to contribute by season's end, if not sooner....

lololol
can show our young bigmen that they don't have to be solely focused on playing in the paint, rebounding, and scoring in the post.

And you think that would be a good thing for them to learn?   They should be solely focused on that.

Brandan Wright
doesn't strike me as a banger really..  I could see him being a pick-and-pop player with a sweet stroke kind of like Webber's.  Wright has a nice high, unblockable release point too.

wow, way to miss the point
The idea that C Webb is going to have any positive impact on B Wright's development is bass ackwards. The biggest obstacle to B Wright's progression is his lack of playing time, which of course is due to Nellie's apparent disgust for rookies (that's another debate altogether). But his playing time is obviously going to diminish severely (if that's even possible) w/ CWebb on the team .

Really??
Yea, watching and practicing with a big man who understands and can play in Nellie's system is going to hurt wright.  So is the playoff atmosphere wright is more likely to experience now that we have a second big body to help out Biedrins.

If Nellie had simply given Wright his 15 minutes per game this year, he'd already be a major contributor and have developed his game much much further.  In fact, the more you play young players, the faster they reach their potential, even if they are still wearing braces & make Kate Moss look fat.

now that that's out:
The truth is that there are still plenty of minutes to go around.  The day that Wright is talented enough to take playing time from Barnes, Al, even CWebb and MP2 will be a very happy one for Nellie, should he still be around to see it.  And every single one of the players mentioned in this post has enough range on their shot to play with each other in Nellie's system.

Wright deserves more playing time, and I'd love to see him get it when starters on both teams are still playing and playing hard.  But adding CWebb doesn't mean he's any less likely to get that PT.  Until he puts on another 15 pounds or so, its Pietrus and Barnes that stand in Wright's way.

cwebb in bad shape?
i heard from one of my buddies that works in the league that not too long ago other teams (bobcats included) had taken a look at webber and were not impressed with his conditioning.  supposedly he was really out of shape and got kinda fat.  hard to tell from that video of the 1st practice, but he did look a little wider than usual.

i guess its to be expected considering he hasn't played in a while, but i hope he devotes enough effort to get on track as quick as possible.

Also another Webber topic,

I'm excited
I'm excited to see him play. Those extra days off next week are needed.

Last month, I bought an old school Warriors warmup jacket on eBay. I had been looking for one for the longest time and had actually got outbid for one previously (ending over $150). It's a blue one that's just like the white M&N in the Team Store now. The one I have was actually signed by Webber. Now I don't even know if I want to wear it!

Haha
Great Webpin!! very good stuff. I'm actually surprised that no one has spoofed the "where amazing happens" campaign yet (on GSoM).

damn
I could hear the piano in the back ground

"dudum dudum dudum dudum"

That would be funny if you could animate your Webpin so that it looks like BD is slowly moving in place...man...it's seriously sad to see that webpin...
