Stackhouse could have ruined Kidd trade
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-stackhousesnag021508&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
For the Mavericks, the trouble started when Stackhouse, 33, gave an interview to the Associated Press on Wednesday that suggested there was a plan for how his trade, buyout and eventual re-signing with Dallas would unfold.Stackhouse said that he was only part of the deal "to make the numbers work."
What's more, he said, "I feel great. I get 30 days to rest then I'll be right back. I ain't going nowhere."
It's sounds like the league would block Jerry Stackhouse from resigning with the Mavericks. If the Nets did a buy out after the trade. Too bad for Dallas...ha ha ha!!!!

here
"I get 30 days to rest, then I'll be right back," Stackhouse told The Associated Press. "I ain't going nowhere."
The Western Conference executive speculated that the Stackhouse twist might have doomed the trade anyway. The executive said it is a violation of trade rules to agree in advance to waive a player. Stackhouse's public admission of a prearranged deal could have prompted the commissioner's office to intervene.

wow
After the Nets buy him out, he goes on waivers and any other team in the NBA has the rights to sign him in that 30 day period, and he himself has the right to choose to not go back to the Mavs if he doesn't want to.
It's not like it's really a precursor to the deal happening either. I'm sure the Mavs aren't exactly forcing the Nets to do it. The Nets are trying to cut payroll so they'd want to buyout Stackhouse for cheap regardless.

Actually... it IS collusion!
I really don't think the Mavs do this trade unless they can get Stackhouse back. It'd leave them too thin, and he's a key veteran off the bench.

Blame the Warriors
I have a sense that if they did not lose that 1st round to the Dubs (biggest upset in history) Cuban would not feel the need to blow this team up and go after Kidd.
Now that George is blocking the trade and Stackhouse has possibly violated the rules of Free Agency, (dumb) how can the locker room vibe be? Also Harris and the others in the trade may feel a bit salty knowing now they we're trade bait for Kidd but might have to stay due to the trade block.
The upset has still lingers..
