The Rookies Overview

I went to my first warrior's game today but I've been a fan for a long time...Heres what i gotta say about the rookies that played the whole 4th quarter.
Btw i got to sit lower bowl in after halftime because there were so much empty seats. :P

CJ Watson: Definitely talented and almost never makes a mistake. However, i don't see him trying to hook up his teammates much, most of the time he was looking for the open shot himself. Overall very solid, but not a super passer.

Marco Belinelli: I have no idea what goes on inside this guy's head. When he got subbed in near the end of the 3rd quarter all he would do was stand in the corner and like wait for the ball to come to him. During the whole 3 minutes he didn't even get to touch the ball because on offense he would never move. Just glued to that same corner spot. In the 4th he started moving and making some nice shots, hooking up POB. But his major downside is that he is pretty slow out there compared to azubuike, watson, pietrus and he had a hard time defending people out there even though he tried.

Brandan Wright: This guy is a beast. His arms are incredibly long. On that one tomahawk dunk i was amazed. He has some serious potential to be the rebounder/post player we need in the future.

POB: He didn't look too bad out there but there was one thing that bothered me. Earl Boykins went up for a shot AGAINST POB and POB doesn't even try to block it just lets a 5 5 guy shoot over his 7 ft body. Nellie is going to bring that up in practice.

Also i was a bit sad during shootaround because i wanted to get my Marco Belinelli ball signed by Marco. You know what happens?!?!?!?MARCO SIGNS THE WHOLE OTHER SIDE OF THE TUNNEL AND THEN LEAVES!!!I   called his name several times. Totally discouraged me. Luckily i managed to get Al Harrington and Stephen Jackson's signature on Marco Belinelli's ball. XD I think next time I'm going to say this. Marco si prega di palla il mio autografo. Google Translator: Marco please autograph my ball.

Sheesh
I'd rather focus on the positives.  Given the amount of playing time they have gotten, I thought everyone faired well.

I have to disagree about some things here.

1) CJ Watson, now under contract for the rest of the season, is being aggressive like how the coaches told him to be when he first got to the warriors. In the beginning was more of a passer and only waited for spot up shots. Overall, he has handled the ball well. I think last night was his chance to showcase his talent and I think he proved that nellie can put confidence in him in crucial minutes.

2)I'll admit Belinelli has lost some confidence since his breakout in summer league, but overall most of last night's plays were designed to have Marco be a spot up long range shooter. Ideally, we would love for him to attack the basket and be more aggressive, but his bread and butter should be to launch those 3's. I was happy to see him on that And-1 play. Beautiful finger roll. But in the waning minutes, we saw how he has trouble creating his own shot sometimes, especially in that last play of the night. I think Belinelli needs more shots coming off screens.

However, we all have to agree that Brandan Wright is something special!! We traded away JRich for some real deal talent in Bwright. I think even Jrich would be impressed with that dunk. But I still miss Jrich. Props to all the Dubs fans for  cheering him on despite choking up in front of home. 1/8 eesh. I knew he wanted to treat the fans to some classic Jrich-ness.

I was most impressed
with the way belinelli fought through screens. His defense last night was, average at least.

Different view point.
I don't think Bellinelli was supposed to move from his spot in his first stint on the floor. He was just a decoy to spread the offense. In garbage time he definatley impressed.
Have to agree with crazyray on CJ Watson. He was asked to be more aggressive and showed he is no slouch on the floor. Even better, I was very happy to see that with Watson running the point the Warriors did not have any major drop off. Maybe Nelson will be more comfortable resting him.
Don't need to say anything about Wright, but I was impressed with POB showing some toughness on the floor. His move under the basket against Hollins, in which he got called for a walk (should've been free throws), might help show Nelson that he is willing to bang underneath. Helps out too that he has that jumper to force the opposing center to have to guard him outside the lanes.
Now we just need Nelson to give them all some play time to get them comfortable playing and contributing on a regular basis. Future looks rosy!

How Come?
No one's talking about Kelenna Azuibuke's great game last night?

He hit his shots, got his rebounds, blocked Cha-guy's shot Twice! Then assisted Brandan on that Tomahawk Jam!

Hahaha
How about you read.

He included Patrick O'Bryant in there as well.

He isn't a rookie.

This is more like young players "review".

Come on' bring more fire than that.

did anyone else notice the play last night
On one of the fast breaks, Kelenna was coming down, with Belinelli at his side, and 2 Bobcats defenders... Belinelli kinda leaked toward the corner three. Both defenders went to Marco in fear of the three, and Kelenna just took it down the hole. Hilarious.
