Andris out for at least a week - appendicitis
As the trade deadline passed at noon, the biggest story for the Warriors wasn't that Mickael Pietrus was still at practice.
It's that Andris Biedrins was not.
The Warriors' starting center is out indefinitely with appendicitis that began flaring up last night. Biedrins is scheduled to have his appendix removed today and will likely out for at least a week as he recovers from surgery. Suns forward Grant Hill missed 11 days after undergoing his own appendectomy on Jan. 10.
Warriors coach Don Nelson said Biedrins wasn't feeling well during Wednesday's win over the Celtics, though Biedrins still toughed out one of his best games of the season with 21 points and 13 rebounds. He got progressively worse overnight before the Warriors' sent him to the doctor Thursday morning.
This will definately hurt the team's chance of making the playoffs. Guess PoB will get a chance to step up and prove himself.

there
you beat me to it
noooooooooooo
idk
i think this is going to be projected longer than it actually will be, these sort can turn around if he just starts feeling better
i think nelson is saying that to help beids and reinforce that hes the future and nellie will give him whatever he needs to take; meaning theyre probably overshooting how long it will take to bring him back
i think the way theyre handling this will do something good for bieds confidence and comfort with the team, it sets a tone, and it encourages him to coem back tenaciously whenever he feels ready

hey
no big deal
His playing time has plummeted 33% in the last 5 games, and we're 4-1. The game he did get his average minutes per game? Last night. Short term, this is a good thing. Throw the other bigs into the fire.
At least our schedule isn't that tough

We'll be fine
What scares me is that
Good thing is
damn
I Believe
Lets lighten up, remember last year when nelson solidifed the second half of the season with a small line-up, of Baron, J-Rich, Jack, AL, and Monta. I have a feeling our guys will step-up, Wright will finally get to play, for his size and rebounding.
Keep the faith guys, like Tim Roye said last night, "Do you Believe in the Warriors now!?"
Damn!
And I know this is off topic, but watching Barnes play lately I'm convinced that he should never be played in the 4th qtr. His style of play is a little too erratic for crunch time when every possesion and shot count.
Blessing in desguise!

hm
we got a real easy schedule coming up.
I don't think Chris Webber is physically capable of taking on more minutes at this point, therefore most people here on GSOM (including myself) will get their wishes granted this week: POB, Croshere, and Wright should all get a nice increased in playing time. The young guys now have a golden opportunity to earn Nellie's trust. If they play well and Nellie starts trusting them, we could possibly have a nice, deep, productive frontcourt down the stretch.
Another perk of the situation: Mullin gets to have a full-on evaluation of what our team is like playing without Biedrins. This will be a great opportunity to fully gauge Biedrins' worth on this team, and hopefully give us a good idea what he should be asking from us when his contract extension comes up in the offseason. If the Warriors can play well during this stretch, then maybe we can use it as leverage to get Biedrins to sign cheaper than the widely-believed $10mil/yr contract. And if we play horribly without Biedrins? Then we'll know for sure that he's fully worth what he gets from us.
I remember when Foyle had his removed.
