Vegas Odds: Golden State by 9 (source: yahoo.com)

Now that's what I called a successful road trip! Granted, it wasn't perfect (thank you very much J-Rich!), but it's really tough to complain about the caliber of ball the Warriors have been playing as of late. They've won 6 of their last 7, and just went 3 and 1 on the road including a nice victory over an Eastern Elite team. (Orlando)

The reality of the race for the West has clearly set into the minds of our boys as the final 20 games of the regular season approaches. We're in the 8th spot in the West, yet a mere 5 games behind the currently 1st place Lakers. (Did anyone else cringe reading that?!)

EVERY. GAME. COUNTS.

Make the JUMP to see what we're in store for tonight.

Star-divide

Considering that every win is vital right now, the Warriors have a nice little challenge before them at the Roaracle tonight. We'll be facing off against Mr. Chris Bosh and the Raptors.

We've only faced the Raps one other time this season and you most likely won't remember it. I say this of course because the game was in Toronto at 10:00am PST on a Sunday morning. So if you are anything like me, you were fast asleep in your warm, warm bed. Perhaps there were visions of sugarplums dancing in your head? I don't know. I'm just making assumptions here. Sugarplum related assumptions. And those are the worst kind.

In any case, the Warriors did learn something that fine Sunday morning. Watch out for T.J. Ford. While Bosh had a (relatively) quiet game against us, Ford lit us up for 29 points, 9 dimes, 6 boards, 2 jacks, and a partridge in a pear tree. (What's with the Christmas theme in March?!) Granted, that performance isn't his standard fare, but he certainly shouldn't be discounted tonight.

As for Bosh... well, let's just say that his YouTube video wasn't the only reason he made it to New Orleans this year. This season he's averaging almost 23 points a game and almost 9 boards. While he was relatively quiet in our last matchup, Bosh is generally a beast and we can't let him run us on our home floor tonight. So, y'know... "DEFENSE!!" *clap clap*

**UPDATE**: Chris Bosh is out! Good defense guys!

What else can I say? We need this win. Hell, we need every win! If the Warriors can come out and play tonight with the same ferocity they've displayed recently, we should be all right. Let's put this one away!

Predictions:

* MP2 continues improving his game, 10+ points and 2 monster swats from Air France. As a result, yet another civil war ensues in the Open Thread about his value.
* Jax shoots lights out, going for 20+.
* The Arena crowd goes to get a beer after our national anthem and awkwardly tip toes back to their seats when they are reminded that we also have to sing Canada's national anthem.
* Warriors by 6

I believe
Chris Bosh is still hurt. But we do still have to deal with the beast that is Jamario Moon.

warriors win
my brother is living in toronto, following the rap's, and today 3/12 is his b-day so i offered to root for rap's in his honor- his reply was he wanted the w's to win since they're fighting harder, more on the bubble than rap's. yeah.... my man!
rap's minus bosh should be a win.
did you know that jose calderon also shot over 60% fg in february?
14ppg, 8-9 ass, over 50% 3pts, he was killing while tj ford was out...
we'll see how he does against our 60% superman, Monta "the Audacity of Hops" Ellis!
i'm psyched.

OT funny story from Spain
Silly soccer club

An Italian tv personality pretended to be Nick Cage and was able to dupe Real Madrid club officials into taking him out to dinner and getting his own personalized Real jersey.  The guy resembles Nick Cage but has an ITALIAN accent.  He got to watch a match with the club president from his private box.  What a ruse...I think I'll go to Spain and pretend to be Bruce Willis.  They'll never know...

Random fun story for y'all as we get ready to DOMINATE these shorthanded Raptors.  Silly Canadians.

then we will fight in the shade.

last night
TJ Ford went off  against the dreaded lakers (and yes i do cringe every time i see their name on top of the standings...wait actually i dont cringe, i just throw up a little in my mouth) but  anyway the raptors are on the end of a back to back so hopefully they'll be a little tired. add in the fact that they'll be without chris bosh and hopefully that means the warriors will be too much for them to handle tonight

by 3Kings650 on Mar 12, 2008 12:56 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Hopefully
Monta gets his February mindset on. He seemed out of his flow the last couple of games.

I'll say warriors by 5. No, Bosh means Jax doesn't have to work as hard on defense...he was one of the main reasons Bosh had a mediocre game in that first matchup.

by disguy on Mar 12, 2008 3:14 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Monta out of flow
Is that because he's becoming fatigued? Or is the opponent defense paying more attention to him, and he hasn't adjusted to that yet?

by IQofaWarrior on Mar 12, 2008 4:00 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

defenses are paying attention to him
remember the game against the celtics? he was getting double teamed like he was garnett

by 3Kings650 on Mar 12, 2008 4:09 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Even when Ellis is playing "bad"
he is still shooting around 50%. Which actually kind of worries me, because he made expectations so high after February, so even when he still plays pretty good, it looks bad.

by belilaugh on Mar 12, 2008 8:08 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

No Bosh, but they play Nellieball-East
Toronto will not have Bosh, granted.
But they play an up tempo style, similar to us.
We cannot afford to get off to a sluggish start tonight, because with the shooters they have, they can bury us early if we aren't hitting on our end.
Hopefully, we can hit some early shots, get into our game, and watch this potential ping-pong hoops game go into our favor.

Go Dubs!!!

by Oldscule on Mar 12, 2008 3:26 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

hmm just to make sure we win
WARRIORS ARE GOING TO LOOSE TONIGHT BECAUSE WE SUCK AND THE TEAM WE ARE PLAYING IS GREAT. I SMELL A 30 PT LOSS!. k got the reverse psychology going just like with all warrior games they loose when you don't think they will and win when you do not think they will.

Calderon and Ford
Not sure if both are healthy but if they are, they're probably gonna see some time on the floor together. I hope Monta doesn't get torched by either one. And that we get the aggressive Baron on D.

They have Warrior Killer written over them tonight.

All I can remember after the first quarter
Was that absolutely sick nasty filthy dunk by Pietrus, what an amazing play.

Also, the only complaint I have is that Jackson is doing too many isos. He's still my boy though, but when the Warriors go on runs they should keep the ball moving, he should save the isos for a different time.

Maybe
give him some run in another game, but you can tell that he is not confident in that outside shot, where the Warriors need him most. At the very least I don't think he should come back into this game because he just doesn't look right. Step it up Book.

why was there no big man for almost the entire second quarter after we were on our way to 30 up?  anyone? there's a reason Nelson has never won a championship.  Wright should have seen 5-10 minutes in that first half. They have no inside presence.   It's vital that we develop Wright for our future after Nelson is gone.  Wright now....The Dubz need to figure it out...we should be owning this team

Also, the Raptors without Bosh are by no means a bad team. They have so many shooters on that team, it's unbelievable. I mean, the 3 point shooting champion is coming off the bench. Luckily Bargnani hasn't been shooting well. And who the hell is Kris Humphries?

by 8monta on Mar 12, 2008 9:37 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Monta's play
sparked the Oracle getting very loud, sparked Ford missing a shot, sparked the Oracle getting louder, sparked a bucket by Biedrins, sparked a missed shot by Ford (and a bitch attempt to try and draw a foul while shooting the three I might add), sparked a fast break layup.

You gotta love momentum.

by belilaugh on Mar 12, 2008 9:35 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Ford created the contact
but Pietrus didn't jump up, so it's a good call, although a momentum crippling one. Dang, that's not good.

Pietrus...
that's rather unfortunate he's been fouled out. He's had an excellent game. Hate to see him go out that way.

by sunghan on Mar 12, 2008 9:40 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Loved Pietrus' game today,
but the last two fouls were bad fouls, and Toronto doesn't miss from the line. Hell, Toronto doesn't even hit rim from the line.

Ford is a true Warrior Killer
people like Roger Mason and Andres Nocioni might make shots in insignificant parts of the game, but Ford is doing it against Roaracle and the Warriors intense last 5 minutes of the game defense.

Props to him, but let's go get that win.

Hey SAINTDEE
I really think that the Warriors are doing so well this year because of your pessimism!! I love it!  Keep doing that!!! There´s the broadcast jinx and there´s saintdee anti jinx!!

by faetati on Mar 12, 2008 9:55 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

its
ha... let see if it'll work tomorrow... we got 3 wins.. a loss is coming up. It will be tomorrow night. Amare is going to get all the home court calls tomorrow. Shaq is going to grab all the rebound. Pietrus will be a foul machine tomorrow. Davis will jack up a lot of bad 3s. Baaaddd feeling about tomorrow since Davis didn't get any rest this game.

gotta
will a loss for the warriors. But seriously though, all pessism aside I really do think we'll lose tomorrow's game. Its just our MO to lose every few games. Its hard for us to be consistent for some reason. We have no answer for amare.. hes just too big. We won't have an answer for Shaq either. I really have no idea what Nelson is gonna do..but I really hope he has a plan.

asdf
what were you watching the last time we played pho

by STIX on Mar 12, 2008 11:13 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

i
watched a extremely close game that we won because amare missed 1 free throw. Amare got to the hoop at will and jackson and davis fouled him nearly every time. I also saw Hill score over 20+ points.

The Suns are a better team than they were last time and they will also get the home court calls for them. That's why I am worried.

MP showed up again
Led the team in rebounding for 4th game in a row. 14 points, 8 rebs, 2 assists. 38 minutes, zero turnovers. Some very nice defense, hustle and another SportsCenter highlight. 6 fouls but still a very nice outing for The Scabbler.

is it just me
or the warriors need some kind of a game within the game motivational tool for them to get into business to pull out a win?  its getting stressful than enjoyable to watch this team...

BTW i was hoping for some Nesterovic vs Perovic action tonight tsk...

Threes will fall down
It seems the Dubz shoot better percentage from 3 on the road than at home,go figure.I think there too relax at home and that might have something to do with it.
