Playoff matchups.

For the past couple of months we've all been making our choices of who we'd rather face and who we'd rather not face if we make the playoffs. The majority of us seem to really want to play New Orleans, Phoenix, Dallas, or Houston, and would rather not play San Antonio, LA, or Utah. In order to draw a first round matchup against one of the previously mentioned four, we've been hoping that the Dubs will make a push into the 6th or even 5th seed. Although in the crowded West, this is a very possible scenario, it's highly unlikely, unless we go on a big win streak, and get some help from the likes of Phoenix and Dallas.

Now to my point. Let's say Houston stays on their hot streak, and continue to climb the standings. Suddenly it seems as if it's okay that we get the 8th seed, or 7th if the Rockets only end up in 2nd. But here lies the problem. If Houston does stay hot, are they still on the list of teams we'd rather play, or do they move onto the list with LA, San Antonio, ad Utah? As of today, the Rockets are in 1st with our Dubs still in 8th,setting up a first round matchup between the two if the playoffs were to start today.

What are your guy's (likely) choices for playoff matchups. Include seedings as well.

Playoffs
I don't care if they kept that winning streak going until the playoffs started.  The Warriors match up well with the Rockets because they don't have a big dominant Center.

I agree!
And I would LOVE for the Warriors to beat the rockets in the first round.

Ditto
I was really hoping to play them in the second round last year instead of UTAH but that obviously didnt work out.

I don't care how hot they are, I KNOW we can beat them in a seven game series. I REALLY hope theyre still undefeated when we play them on friday.

nothing is set, but what the hell
Houston has been playing out of their minds and will not stay this hot

L.A. Lakers are likely to get not one but two big men back for the end of the season and will need to "adjust" again as they enter the playoffs

New Orleans is only 1.5 back from first and are my pick to finish in first.

Utah, Phoenix & San Antonio will finish fourth through sixth, and it won't matter to us until the second round, if we get there.

Dallas is my pick to finish seventh. Call it the Dampier effect. I have no logical reason.

That of course leaves us and Denver to slug it out for the 8th spot. No, I don't see us getting hot enough to climb higher - there just isn't any logical reason why we would. Which, of course, means we will. Denver just gorged on super-size sonics in case anyone missed it. Don't worry, it was just one game. No way they could catch us...

My prediction: Hornets. No, it wouldn't be pretty, but it wouldn't be much different against the Lakers. Damn right we better hope for Houston.

Rockets
I still don't see Houston as a good team. Somehow TMac and his boys Alston and Battier don't exactly inspire fear. I've never actually watched a Rockets game sans Yao but on paper, the team looks horrible. Not to take anything away from the value of teamwork and passing and whatever else they do, but they beat Lakers without Gasol, Mavs without Dirk, etc.

Hornets doesn't sound like a good matchup, I see last year's Utah series all over again.

Hope we play the Rockets, hot streak and all.
We end streaks. Period.

(Disclaimer:Hope we make the playoffs in the first place)

Okay, this is what I find interesting.
After watching today's game, something stupid came to my mind.

1.When Rocket's opponents play good, the Rockets play better.
2.When Rockets play like crap, their opponents play like sh*t.
3.If the Rockets are actually better off without Yao Ming, go put him and Yi in an a city full of Asians so they can be in every other commercial I see during time outs.

We matchup well with Houston but....
they are playing some terrific basketball.  They're driving and dishing and cutting and playing defense.  They're making shots.  They're doing everything you need to do to win a basketball game, hence a 22 game win streak.  They're basically doing what the dubs did at the end of last season except they're doing even better.  If they're still playing like this come playoff time, no way should we want to play them.

This seems like blasphemy but we just might be
able to pass the spurs. If they lose tomorrow against the celtics and we get the next 2 were only 1 game back of the spurs and we own the tiebreaker already. Unlikely but its possible. We must beat the kings and clippers regardless of what anybody else does but sacto is tough at home.

In a best of seven
series the Rockets would be mincemeat. They have been relying on a new guy every night to help them win. In a best of seven, they are sure to falter and have one, two and then four off nights. T-Mac has never proven that he can hit the big shots and in a playoff atmosphere, that's what is needed. If they end up with the 1 seed, expect another 8-1 upset against whomever they face. Maybe it will be our Dubz again. It would be weird however, because it would almost be like the Warriors are the favorite...

It would be great
if the dubs played the rockets. that would be cool to add the warriors as one of the teams that knocked McGrady out of the first round lol.

NO PLAYOFF TALK YET! DONT JINX US!!! You're acting like we get here every year. Cross your fingers and hope the season ends well. Then take it from there. Your gonna have a hard time prying your foot out of your own butt if something happens and you were wasting your time on what-ifs.

ANYONE BUT UTAH...
Utah is definitely our cryptonite. I'd rather play the Lakers or Spurs than the Jazz. But seriously, we're only in the 8th spot so let's make the playoffs before we start worrying about who we're going to play.

Games
Kahn Games article will be refreshing in it's consistency with what Dubsfollowers have been seeing for two years, but serves as an intro for the rest of the country. Balanced, even well written in most respects. Monta-fans will love the praise Ellis is granted.

Re the playoffs Games reminds everyone that not only are we within 4.5 games of the No. 1 seed, we're currently only 3.0 games from home-court advantage in the first round yet at the same time only a couple games away from falling out of the playoffs entirely. Again, not news to us, but the idea of home court advantage is one not frequently discussed in these parts - how would the Oracle factor into GSW chances of getting to the second round? Perhaps not much, our road-warriors have held up well away from Oaktown. Nonetheless ...

He also realistically appraises the likelihood of advancing in the playoffs ...

I agree with STIX that...
we still have to make the Playoffs first. me, personally, i'm appreciating each game and taking it game for game til the end. as far as hypothetically speakings, as most warrior fans agree with, i wouldn't want to face Utah or SA since the dubs have failed to be successful against these two teams in the past few years or so. If it does come down to one of those teams, I'm all for it as long as the dubs make the playoffs. Bring it ON. WaRRIORS are a legit team and as deep as the West is, i think any of the teams thats part of the playoff race can win the championship. its whoever has the most heart as the dubs probably have the best chemistry in the league. Most teams in the NBA play hard, but its up to them to put their heart and soul into it.

2008 WARRIOR NBA CHAMPS! SO WHAT!
