Timberwolves owner says KG tanked last year

Taylor said the columnist "said a little bit last year was that we sort of like tanked it. I don't think that. I don't like that so much. I don't like that.
"It was more like KG tanked it. I think the other guys still wanted to play."

I don't know, but as much as it seems like KG loves the game. I find it hard to believe he sat out 1, if he could play, and 2, without the ok from the organization.

That owner is just a bitter sound bite

2006-07 32-50 record, so what if KG sat out the last 5 games and they lost the last 7.

He put up 22 and 13 the whole year, but 5 games.

Our Dubs took the final Playoff spot with a 42-42 record no?

39-43 wouldn't have cut it anyway if they won those last 7 games.

They just played without KG for the last 5 games.

BS Glen Taylor. Not like KG stopped playing the final 20 games or something with "tendinitis" or "flu-like symptoms" in an excuse injury DNP.

To try to take matters into your own hand? If Minnesota front office can't get anybody to play alongside KG, why not try bumping up their draft spot by a little bit.

after all those years he was so dedicated and loyal to your franchise when you screw him over in the prime of his career and then you knock him for sitting out the last 5 games when you're out of the playoffs and he is banged up

Taylor providing McHale's cover?

Taylor's criticsm is distracting attention from McHale who is responsible both for not constructing a better team before KG's trade, and getting a better return on KG's value - why Taylor hasn't sacked McHale is mind-boggling - but then to blame KG for -- what? It wouldn't have mattered if they'd won all 5 games would it? What's the point of bringing it up now? Only serves to take the spot-light off himself & his GM

How different is KG's shutting it down for 5 games from Wade's shutting down for weeks and weeks? No one is questioning Wade's desire to win. Bogus, completely bogus.

That franchise is a mess. Seriously, how does McHale still have a job? So many of KG's prime years were wasted there. I'm kind of bitter as a fan (of the NBA in general) that I wasn't able to watch KG play at the highest level deep into the playoffs year after year. All they needed to do is get the guy a little help and they couldn't do it (excluding one year of Cassell + Spree). As others have said before me, sour grapes.

The Timberwolves

will become the new Clippers. If there's a Franchise that I know will be really bad for a while, it's the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves were only really ever good because they struck the lottery with KG and spent 12 YEARS never putting ANYTHING around him.

I mean, comeon, ask ANY team owner what the #1 thing they need and want that they think will get them to the NBA Finals.

It is: A Franchise big man.

The Wolves had: A Franchise Big Man for 12 or so years.

The Wolves were: First round outs for years, got to the West finals ONCE.

The Wolves ARE: Horribly Mismanaged.

I agree, its McHale that tanked it, not KG. How pathetic are those comments... And the timing is equally baffling. I can't fathom how McHale still has his job unless this moron is complicit in his negligence.

The good news is that for once, those of us here on GSOM aren't the only one's saying this. I think everyone knew how stupid those two were before Taylors comments were even made...
