Monta and his Shot attempts

I noticed on the last couple of broadcasts that the commentators were mentioning that they thought that Monta should get the ball more. Today it was Jim Barnett, and the other was in the Toronto broadcast from one of their commentators. It's pretty clear that Monta should be getting the ball more than anyone on the team since he's the most consistent offensive player. I really think that if Monta took Iverson shots, which would be about 27 per game, he would definitely put up Iverson numbers. Is there a reason that Steven Jackson gets so many isos even though that isn't his best game? I really don't understand it when Baron has an off game shooting-wise (which is too much to count) and we still let him try to take over while the other 4 players just stand there without moving. It's really unfathomable!!!

seems to me that monta gets flustered the easiest if shots dont fall.

i still trust baron and jack with the ball.

Maybe.
I'm not sure about this one, but i'm leaning towards "yes give him more shots" because of his consistentcy in scoring.  But i also like shots getting spread around the team... better for chemistry, better for keeping opposing defenses guessing.  As good as any one player on a team can be, i don't like giving that one player "Iverson shots".  Especially not the amount he had to take in Philly.
I pray i never have to use a gun again.

Monta's
time will come.. Baron is a superstar, you go to him no matter how many he has missed, because with him there is the best chance that he will pull through.

Complete Don Nelson Theory
I'll live and die w/ my star and the veterans... even if it costs us victories... and championships

When Baron or Jackson get the ball on an iso, they almost never get fouled, unless baron is headed to the rim, which in most cases he's so damn strong, it doesn't seem like he gets fouled and the refs won't give him the benefit of the doubt.  Jackson will shoot a jumper or get double teamed and will refuse to pass out of it and then lose the ball.

At least w/ Monta, he almost always has the upper hand on offense and can get to the rim or get a wide open jumper.  And most recently he has the ability to drive and dish to a wide open player.  He had the upper hand the entire night against Luther Head, he was finding wide open players.

I'm not saying he's the go to guy at the end of the game when its all on the line, but besides the times he got the ball on the fast break, he was getting his points off O. Boards and put backs, not b/c Baron or Jackson gave him the ball in the half court.

okay ill meet you half way
i think monta should be getting some more shots, but you can't say that Baron and Jackson don't come through in the clutch, especially Baron

Don't forget
Monta's shots and openings in the half court are at least partially the result of other teams focus on Baron and Jax launching from the perimeter

- more shots for Monta come off the break obviously, and skew the numbers most people site to prove he's more effective scorer, if only half court sets were factored in those numbers would fall dramatically

I'm pleased to see Monta's game expand this year to include more drive & kick-outs to shooters - - Monta's creating shots for others makes the whole team better and increases his value further ...

i thought we were talking about his shots...not his ability to pass.

he's oly 23 baby
i'd be a fool to disagree with jim barnette.   if we take a look at the box score, bd took 23 shots to monta's 15 in about the same minutes (43).   baron doesn't have the legs he used to, and monta's blowing up, so i see no problem letting bd concentrate more on passing. that being said, if you know nellie's track record with young players, bullet's  really going to have to earn those touches.
If I didn't waste my time doing this I'd be doing something even less satisfying, like your girlfriend.

Monta
I think Monta is still too inconsistant with his outside shot.  If you look at his shooting percentage from outside the key, he still needs a lot of work.  my .02 cents.
