Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Playoff Picture

How does everyone see the season ending?  At this point, it's basically a 3-way race between the Warriors, Dallas, and Denver for the 7th and 8th spots.

In case anyone doesn't remember from last year, here's how the tiebreakers work:
1) head-to-head record
2) division record (if head-to-head is tied, and teams are in the same division)
3) conference record (if head-to-head is tied, and teams are not in the same division)
4) winning % vs. playoff teams in the same conference

In your posts, copy and paste the remaining schedules for each team, and replace the '?' with a 'W' or 'L' to make your predictions for how this crazy race will finish.

My Prediction:
7th - Denver: 50-32 (31-21 conference)
8th - Warriors: 50-32 (30-22 conference)
9th - Dallas: 49-33

I think Dallas will end 5-7 and miss the playoffs. I see the Warriors going 7-5 in their remaining 12 games, including a split with Denver.  And I'm guessing Denver will go 7-4 in their remaining 11 games.  Since Denver has a 1 game advantage in their conference record, and since all of remaining games for all 3 teams are against the Western Conference, the Warriors would loose the tiebreaker to Denver and get the 8th seed.

If we split Denver and Dallas
And beat each of Portland, Memphis, Sacramento (in Oakland), LA Clippers, and Seattle, we have 7 wins there.  If we take one more @San Antonio, @New Orleans, or @Phoenix, we get to 8-4.  If we sweep either Denver or Dallas, we're in great shape.

In the middle of the season, I'd say we'd go 4-1 against the crappy teams.  At the end of the season when they have nothing but a draft spot to play for?  The Warriors will win those games.

I say we finish 8-4, 51-31 and take the 7 seed.  Who do we play?  Don't know.

I agree
that we'll most likely beat Portland, Memphis, Sacramento, LA Clippers, and Seattle and split with Dallas and Denver.  I'm just not sure we can win @San Antonio, @New Orleans, or @Phoenix, especially when those teams are highly motivated by the tight Western Conference race.  That's how I came up with 7-5.

I also agree that if we can find a way sweep either the Dallas or (especially) the Denver games, and still win the games we're supposed to win, then we'll be a lock for at least the 8th seed.

I guess it's too much to ask GSoMer's to predict 12 games for 3 different teams :-)  We'll try this again when there are only 6 games left...
