A Little Bit of Karma for Fisher?

I just saw a link on the NBA site saying Derek Fisher has a partially torn tendon in his right foot. He's still going to try to play it out but it's an injury that would normally sideline a player six-eight weeks. Also with Kobe in Technical Foul trouble, this could be bad news for the Lakers.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/printedition/la-sp-lakerrep29mar29,1,6736815.story

I guess when people said karma would come back to get Fisher, it would come a lot sooner than later. I know most people are over it but I still wouldn't mind those 4 seconds back and see if Fisher would flop again, bad foot and all.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Don't think so fast
As much as I absolutely hate the Lakers, Kobe won't get his 16th technical foul. He's probably the main money drawer for the NBA, so refs won't give it to him with only a certain amount of games left.

what the deuce?
it's not talking about whether he DESERVES karma. the post is merely saying that the injury to fisher's foot may BE karma.

meh.
no amount of karma will bring back that terrible loss.

If I'm not mistaken...
Karma shouldn't be a set thing, I mean you do good things out of kindness right? -.-  And if you do bad things that just shows how much character you have.  This isn't Karma Fisher had, it's his character rearing it's ugly face.  Dirty players get dirty injury's.
  • Webber (Am I wrong?)
  • Marbury
  • T-Waaaaah
etc...

If there was karma for the Warriors
then Fisher wouldn't have been injured. We want the Lakers to beat as many teams as possible now that they aren't playing us.

KARMA?
pleeease.  i'm no fisher fan, but after watching the replay 1000 times on youtube, Fish clearly trips on Harringtons foot while back-peddling (then grabs Monta on the way down).  Is he a flopper? Yes.  But on this play- save your fury for the whack-a$$ ref who called the foul. AND the loser who had the better angle and didn't question the call.
I heard there was a letter of apology issued by the League about the incident...anyone have news on that?

Agree ...
.. with your latter points, but not the 1st.
Fish did grab on purpose, just like Kobe was grabbing Baron, on purpose.  No calls either way.

Karma ... yes-sir!!

I would like the on purpose dirty plays (player who makes them), once reviewed by League and verified bad -- then that player is Suspended the next game AND Suspended the next time they play the offending team. That would help slow down the deliberate dirty stuff. (Plus a nice stiff fine.)  Bruce Bowen would deserve some of these.

karma...
No need for some of you guys to get that worked up over the word karma. Really I was just posting about Fisher being injured. I just decided to add the bit about karma because of the whole incident. Take a deep breath and realize it was just a news report.

I believe in karma
always have.  it's also what keeps me in line (most of the time anyway).  I hate paying the piper.

I read when the Lakers played the Bobcats right after the Lakers/Warriors game, Floppy Fishy played 31 minutes (so much for that horrible bruised knee he was hugging during his flopfest) and he only scored 2 points.  The Bobcats won, JRich had a great game, and Kobe was ejected after two technicals.

the league admits the error
so when we lose out on the playoffs by one game, think:  d e r e k   f i s h e r

Sorry.
I hated the call, but if we lose out of the playoffs on one game, I'm gonna think "Timberwolves".  (Or Bulls, or Hawks, or Bobcats...)

by Hoopachoo on Mar 30, 2008 4:00 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

yea, but
that's just it.  The Timberwolves, Bulls, Hawks or Bobcats were games we lost.  We didn't get a chance to lose the Lakers' game - the bad call at the end lost it for us.

by centerre on Mar 30, 2008 4:21 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

its the time...
of the game that the call was made.  People say you can't blame the ref's for winning or losing and for the most part they are right.  However, when a whistle comes with 3.6 seconds to go in a game there's no chance to recover.  And don't say it shouldn't have come down to that because not every game can be a blowout.  That was a great game that was very close down the stretch or it wouldn't have gone to overtime.

And so what if Fisher got tripped up, the fact that he grabbed Monta on the way down is just as bad and he should have been called a foul.

By the way, did anyone notice that Baron wound up WIDE OPEN with the ball when the whistle was blown?

Game 7 of the 2008 NBA Finals
Imagine if that call were to happen in a Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Do you think ANYONE would be happy to see a game end like that? nope.

It's funny how Lakers fans try to justify that call. It was already admitted as an error by the league, Derek Fisher was surprised by the call as well. It should have been a no call. Delaney tried to be the "cool" ref by being the first to blow his whistle when he saw two players on the floor. And since Monta was on top of Fisher, it means that Monta commited an offensive foul? What a joke.

That call helped sparked a rivalry between the two teams; at least FAN wise it will. There's a video of the play on Youtube, and there's 800+ comments between Warriors and Lakers fans talking crap to each other about each other's teams.

on espn.com
there are literally 1000's of comments on the page for that game...  Laker fans were talking all kinds of unprovoked trash like they had blown out GSW and now Kobe should be MVP, and GSW doesn't belong in the playoffs, etc.  No class, no knowledge, no life... Their fans are just as weak as Fisher.

After reading all that garbage it makes me appreciate the positive tone of all the GSoM'ers here.  Sure we can be critical of our team but its all about improving, not trash talking.  Even at the Laker games at the Oracle for the most part the fans are cheering on the Warriors rather than just mindlessly booing the Lakers.  I'm glad GSW fans keep it positive and fun!
