When Do You Think Belinelli Will Get His Time To Shine

Lately we've seen a lot of action from Wright these past few days due to Biedrins' injury/surgery. Its been really exciting to watch him play meaningful minutes and contribute to a game. Just thinking of the future star he can become just makes me smile. My question is though, is there enough time in the season and leeway in Nelson (and standings) to let Belinelli get some burn on the court? It was about this time two years ago that Monta really got some solid minutes under Montgomery but that season was a different story. I guess I'd just like to see him play because garbage time in a Warriors game doesnt come by often anymore...

and hell why not put CWebb on the IL and suit up Kosta! <---------hahaha jk...not really.

itd be nice....
but barring any major injuries to monte, baron,  or jackson, its pretty unlikely that marcos getting any PT this year. The race for the last playoff spots is going to be tight no  matter what. houstons still goin strong without yao and u cant count out a team with melo/AI/CAMBY.

it took an injury to get Wright finally on  the court and it seemed like Nelson was liking Wright more than Belineli anyway

I'd rather not see...
Belinelli get any PT.  I think he's a straight up bust.

Belinelli isn't a bust
He just needs more time to get used to the NBA and living in the US. He also needs to work on his defense and consistency - give him time and he could become a solid player.

I'm curious
What are you basing that assessment on?  I've been to Warriors games and I can't see anything that makes him look like an NBA player.  I know he had 38 points in a summer league game, but Marcus Banks had 42 this summer.

don't kid yourself
the only reason wright is seeing time is because of the injuries to beans and the bust in cwebb. Now wrigt has very liked earned some rotation time with his play, but he prolly wouldn't have seen those minutes had beans gone out. Fact is, bellineli is competing for a guard spot, and guards are our best players on the court. Can you name any guard (pietrus, barnes, jackson, ellis, buike, davis) who's minutes you can legitematly cut to make room for him? Work on that jumper and your transition defense belli, see you next season kid.

Pietrus and Barnes
are forwards.

But Belinelli is just much, much worse than the other Warriors guards, including CJ Watson.  And he's a rookie.  And Don nelson is his coach.  He won't play all season.

Gentle with the rook
I firmly believe that Nelly was avoiding throwing Wright in earlier in the season because Wright had some things to work on and had never played 82 games in a season.  Let the rookie work himself in slowly, don't push him too hard, don't put too much pressure on him.  Seems to have worked.  Even now, he's using him sparingly.  Nelly's doing things wright (yeah, that was on purpose, I'll be here all week).

Belinelli's problem is defense.  He's slow, tentative, and doesn't really know what he's doing out there.  That and the fact that the depth chart is pretty stacked above him.

Summer League?
Or when the Warriors waive him and he goes back to Europe?

j/k ... hopefully Belinelli will become a contributor for the Dubs.

Marco
I don't see him taking any time away from Monta or Buike anytime soon, and that is probably just as it should be.

Do you guys remember...
that Belinelli was taken 18th last draft?  18th!!!!  that was a crappy pick.  People were predicting that he'd be drafted in the second round.

18th!!!!!!!!!

and I'm predicting right now that he's never going to be an NBA contributor.  I know a lot of you probably agree with me.

not just talking monta and buike
if it was just them, belli might see a couple minutes of game time like wright did. fact is, nelson doesnt play players by their position, he plays them with huge consideration on talent level. Pietrus, who plays our 2/3 guard is gonna play center over POB 100% of the time, even though POB is a straight up 5, because pietrus has more skills overall. Barnes and Jackson are straight forwards, but both of them are gonna play guard over belli 100% of the time.

there isn't a position chart for this team, there is strictly a depth chart and belli is down at the bottom. i imagine that when beans gets back, your gonna see wright's playtime drop significantly and harrington/barnes time go up, despite his good play over the last few games.

next year
although that depends on if he's willing to dedicate himself over the summer. pietrus will be gone and perhaps barnes as well so there will be openings

Bellineli will get minutes if...
one of the guards gets hurt.

BW would not have gotten minutes if AB wasn't out of the lineup.  Bottom line is Nellie will play the rookies only when there is an injury to a starter.

So lets hope we don't see Belli this season cuz that would mean Baron or Monta is hurt.

Bust?!
I don't really think the guy should get all that much playing time either, but how can you call him a
bust already?  If the guy had actually gotten some playing time and stunk it up, then I would understand.  Knowing that if you miss your first shot or two Nellie is probably gonna yank you is not exactly conducive do playing well.  And yes, he does seem to just stand around behind the three point line, but who's to say that Nelson didn't tell him to do just that.  I was really surprised to see that he is averaging close to 8 minutes a game, I thought that it would be less.  I'll save judgment till he actually gets a little PT.

Uhhh....
8 mins/game over 21 games.  He doesn't even see the floor for 2/3 of the games.
