3 Teams' Remaining Schedules

I think the Warriors and Nuggets have more favorable schedules than Dallas, and with Dallas' recent struggles (including zero wins against teams over .500 since getting Kidd) I think the Warriors and Nugget are fighting for the 7th spot, rather than 3 teams fighting for the 8th spot.

Warriors:
4/1 @ San Antonio L
4/2 @ Dallas W
4/4 @ Memphis W
4/6 @ New Orleans L
4/8     Sacramento W

i doubt that the Mavs will have
a better record than the nuggets.. yeah they lost to the suns, but the mavs barely beat the clips

by travisl212 on Mar 31, 2008 11:34 PM PDT up reply actions

But...
...it's all conditional. Think of this...the Mavs barely beat the Clips, but roasted the Warriors...which team is better between those two? The Clips or The Warriors?! Any team can have an off night (as you saw recently)...so, 6-3 is not totally unbelievable.

pretty generous in your predictions.. if brand and kaman are back when we play the clippers we'll probably lose.

by saintdee on Mar 31, 2008 10:50 AM PDT reply actions

I think
Dallas is the most likely to fall. Everyone is drinking the kool aid that says Dirk will come back from a high ankle sprain and be effective. Even if he comes back, he won't be anywhere near 100% with that injury. They're done and in for a rough off season, they looked pretty disjointed at the end of last nights game.

4/16 could become a very critical day for a lot of people. Hopefully the Warriors will have already clinched.

Wow!
48 wins and not making the playoffs is so possible. Plus we could see 8 teams in the west with 50+wins

by Psion on Mar 31, 2008 11:02 AM PDT reply actions

48 won't be enough
50 might not even be enough

I don't know
The Kings game is anything but a sure win.

The New Orleans game is a 10:30 start on the road, remember what happened at Detroit?

Warriors could very likely lose a game like the Clippers game like they've been doing all season (if Kaman and Brand are back).

Winning at Dallas is tough to do, no matter how they are struggling.

Winning at San Antonio is even tougher.

We lost last time we played at Phoenix.

And just because Dallas hasn't beaten a winning team doesn't mean they won't. I have a hard time seeing them lose to Portland.

So I think worst case is 3-6 and no playoffs. We definitely aren't in a position to be waiting for other teams to lose.

You're pretty generous...
but if this happens I wouldn't be complaining. Unless we draw the Lakers of course. :/

Dallas' record with Kidd is misleading
Look at how close their games have been. It's horrible luck to lose that many close games. I could see all three teams going 6-3 or better. The two remaining games against Dallas and Denver will probably be the deciding factors.

generous is too strong a word
for the above posted game results that i see. realistically, Denver will prolly end up in the 7th cause they are the only team down this stretch that has been playing consistently well. The warriors could however, pull ahead of the Mavs who have been slipping ever since the Kidd trade. Im predicting that the warriors will break about even in the next 9 games, around 5-4, Dallas will go around 4-5, and Denver will be 6-3 or better

don't quote me...
i generally try to stay away from making predictions ever since i made my "nostradomus" statements not to long ago. but i'll say this: every game you think that the dubs will win, they'll win. and every game you think they'll lose, they'll win those too... haha, raise 'em up!

I think the Warriors and Nugget are fighting for the 7th spot, rather than 3 teams fighting for the 8th spot.

So can I assume you won't be paying particular attention to the rest of the regular season? I mean, the difference between the #7 and #8 seed is basically negligible, since we have no idea who the top two seeds will be. With Dallas eliminated, we might as well just rest our starters, right?

I dunno, maybe I'm just a nervous nellie, but I still think there's a bit more work to do. Remember, we're still essentially a game behind Dallas and Denver, since we lose the tiebreaker with either of them. I'd say there's a good 30-40% chance we end up on the outside looking in.

by Sleepy Freud on Mar 31, 2008 3:20 PM PDT reply actions

Beat Dallas again
Beating Dallas next is key. I say we tank it in San Antonio where we probably wouldn't win anyway to rest for Dallas the following night. Dallas will be lucky to have a winning record the rest of this season, and losing to GS will help them on their way. Clippers are rested tonite and Dallas has lost 5 of 6 and is on the back end of a back-to-back, so Dallas losing tonite would help greatly.

by Hurricane on Mar 31, 2008 3:36 PM PDT reply actions

Warriors MUST win 6 out of 9...
And hope another either Dallas or Denver does not. The Warriors are behind the 8(th seed) ball when it comes to tie breakers. Currently the W's are 1-2 against both Dallas and Denver (with 1 game to play against both) and Denver is up 2 to 1 on Dallas (series complete) Clearly the W's need to win those final 2 games against the teams involved but even if they do the most important gain is the actual game in the standings and not in any tiebreaker. The second criteria for tiebreakers is conference record which the W's are in third out of the 3 (dallas is first) and since all games left are conference so if the warriors end up tied obviously their conference record will be worse. All this means is that if they tie for the 8th (or 7th) spot they will be the lower seeded team. In the event of a 3 way tie the Warriors get the 8th seed only if they sweep Denver and Dallas and Dallas sits out
3 way tie: warriors win both record amongst tied teams
Denver 4-3
W's 4-4
Dallas 3-4

Any other tie puts Warriors at the bottom and as I writing this the Nuggets are stomping the Suns and Dallas is playing an LA team that doesn't have Kobe. Monta's foul against the Fakers feel a whole lot worse now, and it felt bad before.

I'm not saying you're wrong...
but I would think it's still early to tell. Let's say we all do tie, with us winning the next two against Dallas and Denver. Conference record would be next, wouldn't it? As of right now, we have the worst of the three, I believe.

i can see us dropping
either the Memphis game or the Seattle game. Why? because were the freakin Ws! although the law abiding citizen in me would rather us losing to Memphis to take us out of oir misery rather than losing to Seattle at home.

Can you just imagine the mayhem if we lose to Seattle at home to miss the playoffs?  The last regular season game.  I wouldnt wanna be on the streets and or bart if that happens.

We're not dropping the Seattle game
With the playoffs on the line?  Are you serious?  Seattle is fighting for draft position, I suspect KD will have a "high ankle sprain" as well.

We need to win all of our games.  I don't see Dallas doing well, but I don't see them losing to Portland.  I also don't see them losing three straight, but that's just me.  They'll likely beat us at home.  Too much at stake.  I also don't see Denver losing to Phoenix at home.

Regardless, if we take 3/4 on this road trip, I see now way we fall out.  Let's start it up tonight.

One more thing
Dallas is 30-7 at home this year.  I seriously doubt they'll finish 1-3 the rest of the way.

Dallas
Dallas has gone 1-3 over their last 4 at home, they could certainly do that again. Especially since they are 0-10 against teams above .500 since adding Kidd. And since they play us, New Orleans and Utah in 3 of those 4 at home.

Tonight @ San Antonio
I hella hope that we can end that ugly 19 game losing streak in San Antonio. It's just ridiculous that we're alternating wins and losses the past 10 games. We're supposed to go 60-80% in a 10 game span by now. Anyways, I'm just glad that Phoenix did us a big favor in overcoming that 22-pt. deficit last night to get us back in the eighth spot for now. It was pretty much inevitable for Dallas to beat the Clippers last night.

by Phil T28 on Apr 1, 2008 10:41 AM PDT reply actions

kids scores 27...
if the remaining trio of dallas can average combined 75+ pts to finish off the season, they might have a chance at the 8th seed and knocking the dubs out... i don't think they can.

it's a must win in SA tonite cuz the dubs will very likely meet the spurs in the 1st round and they could use the confidence that they can beat them at SBC Center. the game at dallas will be an easy one (crossing my fingers). win both!

I fear Dallas doing a lot better than this
I am not convinced they are going to lose to Portland and Utah!

The Warriors sched is doable, but Dallas played too well last night and I fear they are going on a streak.

Hope I am very very wrong!
