Headed to Hall Of Fame... Who do you think will??

This recent article on foxsports.com is one man's interesting take on the current warriors (as well as others in the NBA) that have a "Hall of Fame" chance.

This website runs weblog software from:
http://www.nba.com/fantasy/features/ltf_080305.html

It is about an evaluation of all NBA teams and who currently has a chance at being in the Hall of Fame. Here is what he thinks of the Current Golden State Warriors.....

Star-divide

Golden State Warriors

Baron Davis: BD is 28, with career totals of 9,858 points, 4,241 assists, 1,139 steals, and 996 threes. Unless his body disintegrates, he's in.

Monta Ellis: I'm not crazy, freaks. It's just that Monta is crazy good. At 22 years of age, Monta is already averaging 19.2 points on 53 percent shooting. In February, he became the ninth guard in NBA history to shoot 60+ percent from the field in a month. Electric Ellis is unstoppable because he is athletic enough to blow by and crush...and talented enough to smack ya from 18. He's not going away. Monta reminds me of Iverson in terms of size, quickness, and toughness, and I can't wait to watch him prove me right over the next 15 years. (I did not forget about Chris Webber, who is currently at 17,182 points and 8,124 rebounds--and NOT counting. He's out. Get a TO, baby!)

Interesting article, take a look at the rest of the piece and let us know who you all think should be suggested, or who should not be on list.

I know it is just one man's opinion, but interesting idea.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

its
way too early to tell about monta. Baron won't make it imo. Too much bad blood everywhere. He can't even get himself voted on the all star team when he plays like an allstar.

What about
Tim Hardaway?

If he doesn't make it I don't think Baron would either.

Put a little mustard on it

what I dont like
Is the talk about letting Gasol in based on what he did in Europe.  This is not the world basketball hall of fame, it's the NBA hall of fame.

Gasol will not end his career with hall of fame stats.

Um...
Actually it is not the NBA Hall of fame, it is the Basketball hall of fame. And if you look at the inductees in recent years they are putting a heavy dose of international players/coaches/GM's into the hall over NBA players who are well respected by NBA fans.

I do think that either the Basketball HOF needs some change in leadership or the NBA needs to open its own hall.

Actually
The Hall of Fame accounts for all professional levels and leagues and I believe college too

Am I wrong, I thought that it's for all that?

You are correct...
...there is no NBA Hall of Fame. The Basketball Hall of Fame takes into consideration international players as well as collegiate careers. This is one of many reasons a guy like Don Nelson is not yet in, because the panel of voters historically puts an emphasis on the international game the befuddles many NBA writers/figures.

Dick Vitale is up for the hall this year. If Dick Vitale is a hall of famer, Baron Davis should be voted in later today, followed by Stephen Jackson, Mickael Pietrus, Assistant Coach Stephen Silas, the guy in the Thunder costume, and Todd Fuller.

none of the above?
Baron and Webber - very good players both, but not HOF imo

Monta? eh, odds are against him simply from a longevity and team-success perspective. He's been great this year, and if he were to sustain that sure, maybe. But how many HOF players played their careers with non-championship caliber franchises?

by hardcore on Mar 6, 2008 6:03 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Chris Webber
18,000 career points
8,000 career rebounds

averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds per game in 14 years in the NBA

I'd say that's Hall of Fame material

The Baron
I think this dude is assuming that Baron is going to be playing at this same level for the next 5-6 years.  If that's the case, then yeah Baron would be a nice consideration maybe.  Otherwise, I don't think so.

Monta cried on the bench...
He does not have Iverson's toughness.  Iverson is a beast.  As good as Monta is, comparing his toughness to Iverson is insulting to Iverson.

top 50 NBA players...
Many of the top 50 NBA players aren't in the Hall yet. And they might not ever be. I think the voters are looking for more than just excellence on the court. They're looking for people who did special things for the sport.. to gain popularity and appreciation from around the world. That's why guys who don't get constant recognition from the league won't even have a chance at getting in. So, basically only guys that the NBA feel have "marketing power" will get that kind of recognition... and those guys like Baron, that the NBA hides in embarrassment as if he did something wrong, will be left out to dry... No love for the future champs!
