I'm sure I don't need to tell you how important this game is. Even my mom was asking for tickets! It's the BGOY - Biggest Game of the Year. If you're going to the game, show the Dubs the same support we showed them last year in the playoffs. Get in your seat before warmups. When the Nuggets come out, boo like crazy. When the Warriors roll through the tunnel, get the "Lets Go Warriors" chants started and don't stop making noise until the final buzzer. You know how big the game is. You know what to do.

This is an early open thread to get the comments flowing. I know y'all got plenty to say.

Quick Playoff Scenario Recap
Let's regurgitate this whole playoff scenario thing again. At the end of the season, if the two teams finished tied, the Nuggets own the tiebreaker. Nuggets would be in, the Warriors out. The only way the Warriors make the playoffs is if they finish 1 or more games ahead of the Nuggets. Which means the game is much more crucial for the Warriors - essentially a must win game. A loss essentially puts them 2 games behind the Nuggets with 3 to play. That would pretty much guarantee an early offseason. Denver would have to lose 2 of 3 while the Warriors win out. A win on the other hand means the Warriors are 1 game ahead of the Nuggets with 3 to play. Either way, the Warriors most likely have to win out to make the playoffs.


De-fense
I'm not really sure how good chanting "De-fense" will do, but it's worth a try. This game is going to be super high scoring. I'm talking 150-149. Neither team plays any defense, so it's just a matter of which team is going to hit the most shots and take care of the ball. If either team decides that defense might be important, they'll win. If both teams decide that defense is important, you'll see some pigs flying outside.


I'm not sure what the Warriors will do tomorrow to slow down the Nuggets, but Tim Kawakami takes a shot in the dark... POB getting playing time to help protect the rim? That's far fetched but crazy enough that Nellie might try it.


That Carmelo Anthony Guy

Anthony has shot 49-of-72 while averaging just over 40 points in the last three games.
`Nuff said. He might go 49-72 in this game. (Though Baron will match him).

Not to get on Carmelo, but check out the quote in bold:

"It's got to be like that Thursday," the 6-foot-8 forward said. "I've got confidence it will be like that Thursday. It's a big game for us. Do I believe we have to win? No. But it's a must-win for us."

We Need Everyone
This is going to take an all out team effort. Not just Baron and Monta. Beans is going to have to rebound like crazy. Al is going to have to rebound and hit his jumpers. Jax is going to have to step up his game and play big like we all know he can. Pietrus needs to play all out and bring his energy. And whoever else from the bench can give quality minutes needs to do so. Whether that's Brandan, CJ, Kelenna, POB, Barnes, or Croshere, someone is going to have to step up. If we win, 2 of those guys will have made a significant contribution.

I'm doing this YaoButtaMing style. No predictions and this will be another entry in the mysterious and undefined YaoButtaMing end of season awards. Give me the combined score of Baron and Melo. If there's a tie, tell me who wins.

I say Baron and Monta goes for 47. Jax goes for 24(Usually when Jax scores over 20 we win)

I will
try to finish my physics lab tomorrow as quickly as possible and race my ass home. The game will be a barn burner. There's so much riding on the game, I'm shaking in anticipation, and it ain't because of the cool breeze of SJ.

Predictions:
61 pts for Baron & Melo combined and a Warriors win.

Is anyone as nervous as me?
I have two big midterms on Friday. Don't kill my night Warriors! I need the motivation.

Anyone curious how our defense is going to work against Carmelo? Last time I thought our zone once Melo caught the ball really confused the Nuggets. Biedrins' presence on the same side allowed the defender on Carmelo to play up on him and Biedrins' wingspan really took away quick passes to the middle. Hopefully the Nuggets haven't figured it out, since we barely played it effectively last game in Denver.

Hope Iverson has another off game with his hurt finger; it'll give us a good chance unless someone else goes off for 30 like Martin.

Gonna be a great game.

Nervous already...
   since I woke up this morning (Wed) I've been thinking about this game.  It's making me crazy!

If Jack makes his first shot...it'll be a good sign.

Total points by BD/Melo 60...Melo make more points...but BD will come with it in the assist column.  This needs to be a team effort from the Warriors...unlike the Melo effort from the Nuggets.

I get to tomorrow's game cuz his girl doesn't want to go!!!  Woohoo!!  Biggest game hands down.  Comes down to how bad the Warriors want it this year.  I can't believe I'm saying this, but we need "Air France" to take off tomorrow!  And no K-Mart thinking he is an offensive juggernaut.  Every bench warmer in the league and their mama seem to think they are a friggin all star whenever they play the Warriors. Done with lurking, just have to say that the gf and I will be doin our best to help create that same atmosphere from last year. Activity on the defensive end will do it for us, just get out there and harass  the ball. They shoot way too well to hope you can kill them through fg% defense, so hustle is the way to go I think.

Please to the people who are going to the game make this the loudest home crowd of the year.

The last time the warriors were on national TV the crowd was lacking the energy that the dubs feed off of. If any this is the time the team needs the crowd the most.

Dont sit down, lose your voice, encourage the people next to you to make some damn noise! Bring back the magic that we had during the first round last year.

This is it ya'll.  I won't get home until the 2nd half, but that's the important half anyway (hopefully we'll be up by 30 at that point).  I say Baron gets 23 (with 13 assists) and Melo goes for 31, so 54 points.  Of course the Warriors win.

The weak link that Karl puts out there is Anthony Carter, so hopefully he gets a lot of run.

And hopefully JR Smith doesn't have one of his nights against us.

I was there for the Dallas game on March 30th and the crowd was on fire. They even started the wave going in the upper deck and it spread around the Oracle.

I unfortunately won't be at tonight's game but I hope everyone there screams their heads off. There should be dead silence as everyone leaves the arena not because everyone is sad about a loss (the Warriors will win) but because everyone lost their voices. Don't hold anything back. Give it all you got and the players will give it everything they have got. There is no tomorrow if the Warriors don't pull off a win.

I saw an interview with AI a month or two ago and he was absolutely not concerned with being in ninth because he knew, he was so confident, that he'd make it into the playoffs. Although they have gained ground in the standings they've also blown major opportunities for advancement.
This cockiness the Nuggets exude could come back to bite them in the ass.

Don't let them lose
The participation from us, the crowd, in tonight's game cannot be understated. I remember very vividly going to all home playoff games last year(as well as the last few regular season games), seeing the crowd as raucous as it was, and saying to myself "there is no way in hell this crowd will let the Dubs lose tonight". I felt like that every single game, and to this date I still cannot explain how we lost that game 4 to Utah (only home playoff loss).  

Being at the arena made you feel like you're part of the team, like you're helping them win the game, and that you won't let them lose the game no matter what. If the opponent goes on a run, pump the team up to get them back into it. If the W's go on a run, go nuts and make the opponent feel even smaller. And this is exactly what we have to do tonight. Just go f*&^%$ing crazy. WE HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE SURE THE W'S WIN THIS GAME.

There have been WAY TOO MANY games this year year a little kick in the a** from the crowd would have put us over the edge to win out a few games.

I went to the Kings game (4/8/08) and it wasn't nearly as crazy as the Roaracle was last year during the Playoffs.

I am not worried about Mello and AI
I am worried about anyone who is not a household name.  It seems to me that the warriors do a good job of making star players volume shooters, but they let guys like Kmart and B Bass have career nights.  If we can prevent any no name players from going off i think that we will be fine.  I hope that MP/Air France, gets it going and has another block or two like the one he had agianst Sac.  That would help a lot.

I gave up my tickets... section 128 Row 3, and 119 row 26.  Season tickets, I had to go out of town to NC to visit family, and didn't realize the season would come down to this.  My dad, his friend, my best friend, and another friend were more than happy to take the seats for tonights game.

Of course, I am watching on ESPN, with my WE BELIEVE shirt on.  I have been chanting "lets go warriors" all day, and people are starting to stare.  And... I have been doing the Godzilla stomp and chanting DEFENSE... look for the loud guy in 128 Row 3 seat 7 or 8... thats my dad, he should be on his feet chanting the whole game.

I am SO PUMPED for this game... I was supposed to go out to the National Park all day (and miss the game, Hawai'i is 3 hrs behind the Best Coast) but luckily Pele cooperated with a small explosion in the crater and I had to cancel because of high SO2 concentrations.

     I think we will win if our 3's are falling at a reasonable rate. Nellie loves to leave the other team's offensive weak links wide open and the Nuggets play two of them in Camby and Anthony Carter.
     If our 3's aren't falling it will be a tough night since it's tough to drive with Camby back there. Nellie might use Al to try to take Camby away from the basket, but AB has been playing so well I'm not sure I'd like this. He'll probably start Al and leave him in if his shot is on but not have a very long leash.

     I say Baron - 32 Melo - 25 for 57. And Warriors win - I really don't get that tiebreaker considering everyone will pick the same thing, haha

Once again...
...this is the biggest game of the season. Hopefully, the Dubs aren't over excited and have some composure. It's hard to stay composed when thousands of fans are going super nuts. We definitely need to be loud tonight though. If the Warriors can hold at least one of the two Nuggets all-stars to a low scoring game we'll be ok. If they both get there's, we might be in some trouble. Go Dubs!

In December,
if we were losing by 1 point at halftime, I would feel great, because I would know that we would turn it on once the fourth quarter rolled around.

The way we've been playing lately against quality teams, and the magnitude of this game, I'm shaking a little bit.

If we jump out to another 15 point lead, we really need to stop playing casual. I saw some highlights of when Denver made their run, those were terrible shots. We didn't even get one pass. We can't live or die by those shots because lately it has been all die.

need to shut it down in the 4th...defense...PLUS they need to stop going one on three against the freakin zone...You can't missmatch a damn zone, except in the post and that's if thier defenders aren't fast enough to help...They either have to hit them open shots or drive in and let the refs dictate the game...DAmn...and Josh jus hit a damn 3....

Just want to know
why Buike is shooting so many shots at the end of the game. If someone else shoots those shots, they could have closed that gap to 4, but he sucks at all the wrong times. He hits a huge 3 but misses his next 5 shots. Damn, that's our season in a nutshell. Begin the year on a slide, end the year on the side.

even if they don't make the playoffs, I refuse to point fingers at any one player/coach.  

As much as I want them to get to the post season, knowing they had a chance to win every game this year going in, well, that's an improvement worth being proud of.

Looked like a D-leaguer tonight.  He looked lost at the end of the game.  He couldn't figure out what to do and just threw up some ugly shots.  He's had a pretty nice year tho.  Just the wrong time to play your worst game of the year.

-Fall into an (0-6) hole to start the season...

-Lose silly games to the Clippers, Bobcats, Bulls and Hawks...

-Then when its all said and done with a shot at redemption and the playoffs lose IMPORTANT games down the stretch and the one game playoff on your home court.....

Fuck this shit. I blame Nelson. He rides the starters the entire season so when we get down to the stretch, not only are our  starters tired, but our bench doesn't have any game experience and is virtually no help. So when Harrington, Jackson, and Baron falter down the stretch, and Pietrus is injured, we essentially have Monta and Biedrins.

This is why coaches rest their players earlier in the season. For these last two weeks right here. This "strategy" allows us to win some games in the middle of the year, but bomb the ones down the stretch. I guess part of it is that in a normal year we would already be in the playoffs, but it became apparent this wasn't a normal year a long time ago, and the strategy should have been thrown away.

Our best chance next year is for Baron and Jackson to get injuries (not at the same time) in the middle of the year so they can be fresh and won't coast the games they are in.

I'm not going to blame Azubuike for his play at the end, because he is put into terrible positions by not playing all year, and not playing the entire game, and then being expected to play like he has.

We finish 3-0 (which won't happen, because we insist on choking against any good team like Phoenix)  and Denver finishes 1-2 (which won't happen, because I doubt Houston will have that much motivation and it is on the Nuggets home floor), and we are in.

But instead of believing, because the Warriors have obviously given up on that, I'll just say the season is done until they prove me wrong.

Here's hoping we get REALLY lucky in the lottery. Otherwise, I'm seeing quite a few years of mediocrity down the road.

Im depressed...
What a deflating loss. Im sitting here in my house staring at a wall, and I cant even see it cause its completely dark. i dont feel like turning on a light. They just didnt pull through. Jackson picked a terrible part of the season to go into a slump. I could go on and on about this, but there is still a slight window of hope. DOnt give up just yet. Just dont be surprised if we dont make it.

just maybe, DWill and TMac will do Denver like they did us earlier in the season...damn...remember when the second to last game last year SAC beats the clips out of no where...you never know...I don't know if the Dubs will have the fire power to get far in the playoffs this year, but Denver is a good team...So magic number for Denver is two...for the Dubs it's five...so last three games...we can only hope...

True Warriors dont give up and pout midway through a MUST WIN game @ home, Jackson and Baron didn't decide to man up until the least 5 minutes and that killed them... I'm not going to rag on the players for to long, but afterall they are the one's playing the game so they inherit all the blame...

I wanted to see the passion of Jackson disgarding the Head Band at the start of the 4th when he was benched, not just when they were down 16.

I wanted to Baron go to the basket the whole damn game not just in desperation.

I wanted to see EVERYONE make the gimme FT's they got, instead of blowing it at the line and putting the game out of reach....

I wanted to see AB get the ball even more as he was the only one playing with HEART the WHOLE game!

We'll most likely make history
as the winningest team to not make the playoffs. For me, I'd use this to fuel the underdog, chip on the shoulder feeling for next season. #8 seed beats a #1 seed last year. This season, fastest team to come back to .500 after an 0-6 start. Still couldn't make the playoffs after winning 47+ games.

   The Jazz will beat Denver since they lost to the Mavs and they'll be back home...where they've only loss 4.

The rule is...a division winner cannot be lower than the 4th seed...BUT, if the 5th seed has a better record, the 5th seed actually gets home court...SO..the Rockets who are currently in 5th is still playing for something when they play the Nuggets

The real question is...can the Warriors go 3-0.

Disappointing (Still crying...)
This game was huge, but come think of it, not being able to win consecutive games will prove our ultimate demise. In 17 consecutive games we either alternated Ws and Ls or lost consecutive games, mostly trading off Ws and Ls. In the "Biggest Game of the Year," we played terrible with a capital 'T'. We had a 16 point first quarter lead against a team that plays a similar offense and defense. We lost the last time we played Denver. We didn't use that as motivation to beat Denver in the Oracle Arena. That J.R. Smith guy killed us. I had a feeling A.I. was the one to ultimately set off our loss tonight. Stephen Jackson wasn't playing like himself tonight. It felt like we was being paid by the Mafia to throw this game. I hella hope we can still win 50 games this season. There's still hope for the playoffs. Denver needs to go 1-2 or 0-3, while we go 3-0 or 2-1 to make the playoffs in back-to-back years. Damn, Dallas won :(

The 1% chance....

All of this considered there is the outside 1 % chance that the W's can get in, it will take HEART and EFFORT, neither of which were shown much tonight...

The Clipper game will be the indicator of whether or not they have packed it in for the year. Denver is vulnerable to losing 2 games, but the Warriors are going to have to play lights out the rest of the way and make the Nuggs sweat a little.

I just screamed myself hoarse here at my place for 1 amazing and 3 horrible quarters of ball. How is it possible that we lose to THAT team in our house?!?!?! Depressing. Hell with it though. I've been with the Dubs since I was 10. I've seen waaaay worse times than this. So have all ya'll. Even if we don't make it this year, sometimes you need the wheels to fall off a bit so you can tune up your ride. Here's to the offseason. And may the NBA champs be anyone but the Fakers or the Putah Jazz.

Let's face it
we are a lottery team that just scared the serious playoff contenders that's all.

Small ball has become painfull to watch and Nellie can't show us anything new with this team.

I don't even dream about making the playoffs next year.We have better chances to land Lebron that make playoffs next year.

We were sucked in this Nellie small ball trap and now we are addicted badly with something that will ruin our lives just like heroin does.

Night in and night out we expect miracles from Dubs, coz let's face it every our win is a little miracle, considering the style that we play.

Now let us try to forsee the future of this team: BD can't run on D anymore, Jax is just streaky, Monta is all-star, AB is valuable, TMNT is what it is,Pietrus is gone, so is POB,Buike is nice role player, Barnes is just bad(fluke),Cro is role player also(good for 10 min.)...the others are..well I don't know realy, I didn't saw them enough in the game.
It's obvious that there are more negatives then positives on this team.

Now what can we(Mullin,Cohan,Nellie?)do???
If you return to preaseason talks about this team there were many folks who were excited about this team happy as we were, and there were others(I remember Sleepy only)who would sell half of this team for franchise player like KG.Tonight we saw who was wright.

will not be the same next year. A big change is coming. I don't think Al will be here, and I don't think that Mullin is done with his plan. He has taken a shitty franchise with no talent and added: Jackson, Davis, Ellis, Beidrins, Wright and others. He has not been at the helm that long, and he has a plan. I am expecting a big change that will make us one step closer to becoming an elite team.  I can't wait to see what it is.

   BUT...something to look forward to next year...

We just got caught in the hardest possible year to make it in the playoffs...  I mean the Lakers and Warriors were both 42-40 last year and made it to the playoffs for crying out loud!

Why the parity??...the previous years good teams...such as Spurs, Suns, Mavs...are getting older and not as good...while the younger teams are getting better and stronger...Warriors, Hornets, Utah

Next year...the older teams won't be able to keep up.

Just got back.
The Warriors played with lil heart it felt like.

The crowd sucked, especially section 215 which I was in. Me and my friend were the only people that even stood for anything in the back half of the section.
The 4 rows in front of us and 4 in back of us sat for everything and never even clapped.
We tried yelling and making noise most of the game and got nothing from anyone around us except for one guy in the second half behind that tried and was yelling at everyone for how much they sucked.

Boy do I miss last year, with fans that cared and knew the game.
Never seen the warriors use the scoreboard so much to try to get the fans in to it and most of the time it had no affect on these people.

So many people there had no passion for the game or this team.

The Nuggets play Saturday (vs Jazz) and Sunday (vs Rockets)...Warriors play Saturday (vs Clips)...and have a break Sunday...Warriors will beat the Clips...and If the Nuggets lose to the Jazz...which they will since the Jazz are at home and still playing for home field (due to NBA 4th/5th seed rules)...  All Warriors fans will be praying for the Rockets to win Sunday!!!  Go Jazz...Go Rockets...

A few problems...
1.) The playoff system sucks, the warriors are better then half the teams in the east record wise.

2.) Don Nelson's job is to win, he turned around a team with a 12 year playoff drought in one year, then made them even better however, because of stupid NBA rules and trading BS the Warriors got screwed that had O.K teams turn to slightly better teams:

-Jason Kidd to Dallas for half the team and Keith Van Horn sitting down. Jerry Stack almost did a trade, cut and sign.  This will bite them in the future.

-Highway robbery with Paul Gasol, I mean if you look at it, it's mostly rights to players who may never play in the NBA. The Laker's at most would would have been a 8th or 7th seed themselves before the trade.

3.) Now I wouldn't say the ref's screwed the warriors a lot, but the ref screwed them a lot...

4.) A 45+ winning team with a lottery pick? Wtf? Lets get that number one pick baby!
