Who do you want to win the west now?

Now that we know the Warriors are no longer in the run for the playoffs, who do you want to win the western conference title now? And who do you want to see eliminated in the first round?

I'll be honest with you, and this might make some of you guys want to ban me from this site, but I'm rooting for the Lakers. I do love the Warriors a lot, and maybe even more than the Lakers. But I grew up watching the Lakers and it's hard for me to stop loving a team I loved since when I was 10 or 11.

Nuggets is the team that I want to see eliminated first. I am not happy with all about Nuggets making the playoffs and the Warriors being eliminated. Ironically, my favorite team to win the West is playing my favorite team to lose in the first round.

Also, I am still against drafting Kevin Love if there's any chance he'll be undrafted by the time it's the Warriors' turn to draft. Why? Because I don't think he can fit into the Warriors system. Maybe Beasley can, but not Love. Feel free to change my mind. I'm open to all thoughts.

Lakers are my fall back team.

Spurs

because they didn't really affect our playoff run! And I like them overall, because they play solid basketball.

It's Been A Great Year! Thanks Warriors!

by ballin on Apr 14, 2008 10:28 PM PDT   0 recs

Really?

I think they're pretty boring. This should be a good poll. Do you think the Spurs are boring?

by CatchAndShoot on Apr 14, 2008 10:30 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Yes, at times

but they do always find a way to win, and I like winning. I also like there old school type of play – playing defense, passing the ball, and fundamentals.

It's Been A Great Year! Thanks Warriors!

Hornets Baby

Truth be told I want the West to win the championship against the Celtics. That being said I should probably be pulling for someone else but in the end I either dislike the other teams too much (Lakers, Jazz, recently Nuggets and Suns) or find them utterly boring to watch (Jazz, Spurs, Houston). Therefore I just want to see Chris Paul break some ankles... hopefully kobe's.

That's inevitable.

Just like Kobe's retirement in a few years. I'm pretty sure Chris Paul is going to be MVP some time in his career, but not this year.

I support

Suns as my backup. Steve Nash SCU ALUM GOGO!

by saintdee on Apr 14, 2008 10:34 PM PDT   0 recs

Oh!

Steve Nash is retiring after his contract ends. Sad.

by CatchAndShoot on Apr 14, 2008 10:35 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

also

I think Grant Hill deserves a championship finally.

by saintdee on Apr 14, 2008 10:35 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

That's reasonable.

I do agree. He does deserve a championship ring. Is he still married to Tamia?

Suns or Hornets

Those are the teams I enjoy watching the most so I want to see them as long as possible. Suns vs Celtics would be a pretty sweet Finals.

hey

how’d you get your sig pic to post? Do you have to post it manually? I can’t get the HTML to stick in mine…

"If you online, check the site and FAQ Is he ill? (Yes) Do he really fit the bill? (Yes) Spit to kill? (Yes) Keep the game real? (Yes) Know the drill? (Yes) The-Ledge-Edge, still? (Yes) Can he catch wreck at will? (Yes)"

by Baron Von DOOM on Apr 15, 2008 10:17 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Yep

I did it manually. I guess they don’t allow HTML in the sigs. I’m hoping they change this though.

Lakers

I don't like them too much, but my room mates a laker fan so theyre my team for the post season. I don't want to see the celtics, nuggets or suns win. I hate the suns with a passion, I have never seen a team and fan base collectively whine as much as they do...especially their coach.

But really, IDK. I usually stop watching basketball after the last warrior game every year.

by superk1ng on Apr 14, 2008 10:45 PM PDT   0 recs

wasn't just you

no one bothered to watch the utah vs san antonio or the san antonio vs cleveland match.

BUT if you misssed the Det vs Cle matchup you missed one hell of a show.

by saintdee on Apr 14, 2008 10:51 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

In my next post, I am going to talk about how Mike D. of the Suns whine endlessly and that brute with a Hitler mustache cannot sit down for four seconds. He’s always walking up and down the bench as if his butt itches badly even if his team is up by double digits.

by CatchAndShoot on Apr 14, 2008 11:44 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

go Hornets

They deserve it and Chris Paul deserves MVP.

by J2daZ on Apr 14, 2008 10:50 PM PDT   1 recs

go nuggets

Now that the playoff hunt is over, I’d love to see another all-offense, balls-to-the-wall type team like the Nuggets do it, and it’d be great to see AI continue to build on his legacy. Also cheering for Houston just to see if TMac can finally make it out of the first round.

This is my sig.

Hornets

I’m in the playoffs with the Hornets in NBA 2k7. Took down Houston 4-1 in the first round.

Was Yao Ming out for the season too?

Hornets or Lakers

I’m not sure yet, but I’ve got a few days. Possibly both.

by Yoyo on Apr 14, 2008 11:50 PM PDT   0 recs

Go Hornets

They may have abaondoned me, but I’ll cheer for them reguardless. They’re too likable. I’ll root AGAINST the Suns.

In the East, I’ll be rooting for Adonal and the Magic, obviously.

Gotta go with the Hornets or the Suns

Hornets, because imagine what a feelgood story it would be to bring a championship to New Orleans. Plus, CP3 is the most dynamic player in the league, and a joy to watch.

The Suns, because they run like the dubs, shoot threes like the dubs, and Steve Nash draws fouls like the dubs only WISH they could. I’m pretty steamed about the game right now, but in a WC finals series against the Spurs or Lakers, I’d love to see them win. Plus, I love Shaq and his postgame conferences. He’s a giant buffoon sometimes, but the guy’s an entertainer and a winner.

then we will fight in the shade.

by Swamp Thing on Apr 15, 2008 1:18 AM PDT   0 recs

This is tough...

...for me. Let’s see.

I hate the Lakers, so they’re out. Not gonna root for the Spurs. I love Chris Paul, but I dislike Byron Scott and Tyson Chandler. I wouldn’t piss on Jerry Sloan if he were on fire. I’m not a big Adelman fan. I like Steve Nash and would’ve voted Suns last year, but I hated Shaq to begin with, and his bitching about Miami after landing in Phoenix was just another unsmooth move that lands him on my, err, let’s call it a pooplist. I do like Nowitzki for the his almost Shakespearesque failings, but Avery, Kidd, and Cuban are like acid to me (plus if they never win the title it makes the Warriors win last year that much more historically relevant). So that leaves the Nuggets. Screw the Nuggets.

It doesn’t matter much, since whoever makes it will lose to Boston anyways.

GO SHARKS

oh different western conference

probably the suns

by Netsky on Apr 15, 2008 3:09 AM PDT   0 recs

Suns

I want the Suns to win the West now as I want Grant Hill and Steve Nash to win Championships before they retire. Also, they play entertaining basketball and were quite hard done by in last season’s playoffs. If not them, I would like the Rockets to do well so McGrady can snap his bad playoff record and they can do well as underdogs again and the Hornets would be my next choice (though I dislike Chandler).

Whatever happens, I hope the Nuggets, Jazz and Mavericks don’t win it.

by zaki on Apr 15, 2008 8:12 AM PDT   0 recs

Mavericks

Yup. I want Kidd and the Mavericks to represent the west. Unless, they are the 8th seed. I want only the Dubs to have the bragging rights that since the format went to best of 7 in the 1st round, they took out the 1st seed.

Rooting on the Suns and why K-Love might work...

I will definitely be cheering on the Suns now that the W’s are out of the running, I’ve always liked Nash and have a lot more respect for Amare after hearing about his childhood and what he made it through…oh yeah and Grant Hill too…After living in LA for a bunch of years I hate the Lakers more than any other team in the league and will cheer ANYONE even Boston over them….Much to the disappointment of my hubby who is an LA boy and lifelong Laker fan. Ah well, it makes marriage interesting right?

Now I might be (ok, I am) biased towards K-Love being a Bruin alum myself, but I actually can kind of see him working with the W’s as long as he loses weight and conditions himself….The only problem is he probably won’t work as a center since he is undersized for an NBA center…Anyway, I could see him working out because of those sick outlet passes….Imagine all those K-Love to Monta outlet passes…it won’t even matter if he can’t keep up with the fast break! But yeah, it’s a longshot of him actually working out so I’d rather see them get someone like Hasheem Thabeet who is known for being able to keep up with the fast break, has size, good hands and is known to be a good defender….

Anyway, just my two cents! First time poster here….

by the wingless one on Apr 15, 2008 8:22 AM PDT   0 recs

I completely understand
After living in LA for a bunch of years I hate the Lakers more than any other team in the league and will cheer ANYONE even Boston over them

I was in the dorms and remember the idiots running around Sproul hall when the Lakers came back from 17 down… “Kobe is the greatest ever, f_ck Jordan, Kobe is the best” And another of my good idiot Laker friends claiming “Jordan can’t shoot like Kobe, he misses most of his shots every game!” what the hell? Jordan shot barely under .500 for his career!

But I as a fellow Bruin allum I agree Love might not be bad for the W’s if someone chained him to a treadmill… if Baron could lose what, 20 pounds since he’s gotten to the team? K-Love could too!

(Yes)"

wow...

you lost me at

and maybe even more than the Lakers

Maybe???

Anyway – Suns b/c Nash is from SC

Really?

I lost you there? Sweet. Stay lost.

by CatchAndShoot on Apr 15, 2008 8:23 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Suns or Hornets

Suns since they play like the W’s do (and so Nash can get a ring). Hornets because I want to see CP3 go all the way.

No Lakers (although I think they will end up in the finals vs. Boston)
No Spurs

by Hac Man on Apr 15, 2008 1:09 PM PDT   0 recs

I'm rooting for...

The Hornets. Beacause I love CP3 and I went to college there…peace, dan

J Rich

Didn’t wanna make a new diary out of this, but J Rich currently has 21 points and 7 steals with 2 minutes to go in the first half against the Nets. It kinda hurts watching him do this but mostly I’m loving it! He just had a steal-breakaway 360 slam

It's almost like the Warriors have 6 guys out there... they always have a guy open! - Jon Barry commentating game 3 last year

Hornets for me!

I think they have the buzz right now…..muhhahahahahahha!

It's about heart, It's about fight, It's about being a Warrior!

JAZZ!

You guys have to admit that the Jazz winning would alleviate a lot of pain. No matter what you tell me I believe that the Warriors could have beaten any team in the West besides the Jazz, so if the Suns or the Rockets make it, I will be pissed. But if the Jazz make it, then it probably means we wouldn’t have gotten too far anyway, and it will lessen some of the pain of this season.

Plus in the heat of the race, I really grew to dislike most of the teams we played, but we had finished playing the Jazz in mid-February, so I was rooting for them to beat anyone they faced. And unlike the Rockets, they actually came up with a victory for us when we needed it instead of tanking.
