nellie DID NOT ruin our season

as i read through comments and talk to people in my classes about the warriors not making the playoffs i came down to the real reason why we did not make it. losing games we should have won. yes jackson was suspended the first 7 games but they managed to get above the .500 mark. yea nelson did not put baron back in the game against phoenix but they played better without him in the second half. i would rather lose with the squad that gave us the lead than lose it with a player comming off the bench knowing he'll jack up 3's.

i just cant stand how people blame nelson for the warriors not making the playoffs. without him, theres not playoffs last year, without him we wouldnt have a better record than what we had last year. and without him we would not be watching by far the most fun team in the nba. nellie doesnt shoot the ball, execute the plays and he most importantly did not lose the games for us. if its anybody to blame, blame the team for not beating the undermanned bulls, twolves, kings, pacers and blowing leads that they should have kept. the team put themselves in the position they were in not nellie. they just did not protect the home court as every good team should. 48 or 49 wins is one hell of a season and should be playoffs any other year and a powerhouse in the east, but the warriors honestly should of had more than that this season

Emotional reactions

Blaming Nellie is most likely an emotional, kneejerk reaction. There are many factors contributing to us just missing the playoffs. In addition to what you mentioned, the bench was not always reliable and the team’s offensive and defensive execution wasn’t very crisp, smooth, and efficient.

Yea man

It’s like a really good charlie horse in the leg… when executed properly, I catch myself off guard screaming like a girl!

Blame it on the west...

7 games better than last year? 16 games over 500? Don’t call this a ruined season.

Blame it on management....

They had the 10 mil trade exception available to bring in any type of help before the trade deadline. They could’ve easily made a better deal for Pau Gasol than the lakers did. Ron Artest was on the market. I’m sure there were plenty of other deals they could’ve pulled. But management decided to stand pat and save Cohan some cash.

ya um

We lost games we should’ve won, but we won games we should’ve lost as well. It worked out to be a 49 win season (if we win tonight) so there really isn’t any reason that we missed the playoffs besides terrible luck.

It's almost like the Warriors have 6 guys out there... they always have a guy open! - Jon Barry commentating game 3 last year

i agree

all the teams that made it over us were better and deserved to be there.

Denver has 2 big time scorers and a defensive player of the year center and a deeper bench.

Houston has an all-around stud surrounded a bunch of solid role players that fit their scheme well.
I’d rather have Scola and Landry as my 4 than Harrington and Pietrus because we don’t need any more points to win games, we need guys who know their roles to come in and do it well.

You don’t need 5 chiefs on the floor at a time, you need some indians to play their part and be led by a couple of chiefs. Unfortunately with the Dubz, you have too many guys that try to do too much because they think they are a chief and that does not equal to team success. Come on, you’ve all seen Harrington keep jacking up 3’s, pull up off the dribble, and force his way inside just to get swatted or throw up brick after brick. With Pietrus, defenders back up when he’s at the top of the key because they know he can’t shoot it there and he does not hessitate to pull up and launch even though the only spot he can hit from is the baseline and on dunks.

If we are able to keep Monta, Baron and Biedrins this offseason, we should look to pick up good role players to surround them via trades, draft and free agency. We don’t need to hit a homerun to be a contender, we just need a big man that can hold his own down low, grab boards and alter some shots along with a defensive minded ball handler that can spell Baron so he doesn’t run out of gas like this year.

blame it on the guy

who wipes the court with that towel attached to the stick everytime the players leave one side of the court.

Blame it on David Stern...

...for having a really dumb playoff system. I still don’t understand how the Atlanta Hawks are in the playoffs and we are not. Something just ain’t right about that.

they are getting

swept anyways so aside from added revenue, they don’t win much.

BUT...

...they’re still getting the oppurtunity to play in the playoffs and they’re not even a .500 team! Of course, they’ll get swept but it shouldn’t be that a weak team like that is in and a good team like the Warriors are out.
