Warriors Offseason
First off, i just joined and the website is great. The warriors had a great season. As for the offseason, there a tons of question marks. Don Nelson: he has done a great job turning our team from a 30 win team to a 50 win team. i just don't think he will be able to take us to the next level in the ultracompetitve western conference. Hoepfully, he decides to stay in Maui and hand the coaching job to someone like Keith Smart. Likes the run n gun style, but will put emphasis on defense and rebounding. Perfect for the dubs. Free agents will be a problem. With so many teams over the cap, Baron will not opt out. No one can afford to pay him more than 17.2 million. Baron will stay for his last year, and leave after next year. Hopefully Monta and Biedrins can be locked up for around 15 million. Barnes, Obryant and Croshere will most likely leave. Pietrus will stay if he accepts our 3 million dollar offer, which i doubt he will accept. If he does, great, 3 years 9 million. I really love Kelenna Azubuike. I think can become GREAT. He is the best rebounding guard in the league. He is a great three point shooter, which is what we need for our run n gun style. He plays good defense, and is the best shot blocking guard in the league. Resigning him should be our third priority after Monta and Biedrins. He will also be a good teacher in the weightroom. I would also like to see Watson stay, who i think will become a solid 15 minutes, 5 points per game backup, which would be important to our bench. If we could do this and pick up key role players like Leon Powe and James Posey, our team would look like this.
PG: Baron/Watson/Belinelli/14th overall pick
Sg: Monta/Posey/Belinelli/Azubuike
Sf: Jax/Posey/Azubuike/Pietrus(maybe)/14th overall pick
PF: Wright/Harrington/Pietrus/Powe
C: Biedrins/Perovic/14th overall pick
If we can do this in the offseason we will be set for the upcoming years. We are a young team that will just get better and better

on azubuike:
1.since when did he become the BEST rebounding guard in the league
2.since when did he become the BEST shot blocking guard in the league
3.he’s good at rebounding and blocking but he’s not the BEST, at least not yet.
4.i do agree on signing him again.
on everybody else:
1.don’t even think about belinelli playing point guard
2.i doubt posey and powe would leave the celtics.
3.our 14th pick is unlikely going to be a center and if they decide to pick kevin love, they are wasting talent and don’t even think about him contributing a whole lot. in fact, he might be gone by the time we pick. it’s more likely that we’ll pick a PG or SF than a center
4.i agree that o’bryant is likely to leave.
5.i agree that nobody is going to give baron more than 17.2 mil
powe maybe
since he’s a local guy and the celts wont overpay to keep him with big baby there also, but i doubt posey leaves to come here.
posey wont leave
because why would you leave a title contender? especially when he is a key member of the rotation.
only reason Powe would leave is because he could be looking for way more playing time because he is still in the developmental stage of his career, whereas posey has peaked and is happy to get minutes on a winning team.

The Dubs should...
keep KA if the price is right. I see glimpses of him being a really good rebounding/scoring guard as well as a strong defender. If his knees holds up throughout his career KA will be great to have coming off the bench with occasional starts (depending on match ups).
If the Dubs are not able to get a PF through FA. Then they should definitely address this need in the draft (D.Arthur, D.Jordan, Dorsey, etc). I’d prefer the Dubs getting a back up PG through FA or trade. We NEED to protect BD next year if he decides not to opt out.
Just make it happen!!!
backup pg
I agree to get a back up pg Nellie can play regular minutes to rest Baron, I like Chris Duhon, he’s buried on the Bull’s bench and lit up the Warriors pretty much outplayed our guards that game. Powe was selected 19th in last year’s draft the Warriors didn’t want him and passed him up for Lasme.
Duhon...
I was talking to my buddy about Duhon and at first that might not be so bad. I also then thought about him being on the court with Monta. That might be a problem considering the size of them both. I was thinking perhaps E.Watson as a potential backup PG. Regardless, we need a backup PG so I’ll be happy with either to spell BD some minutes.
Just make it happen!!!
Watson
Is too expensive ($6M/year for more than one year). End of story.

buike
i expect the dubs to offer him part or all of the MLE. i doubt he’ll get more than that on the open market so hopefully he’ll be back
Powe and the Celts
The celts have a ton of free agents and limited money. It is unlikely that Powe and Posey will be resigned when they have a tight money situation.
As explained above
Posey has no reason to leave the Celts. He would resign for league min if he could be assured of a championship. And he’s a regular contributor there. He’s “just happy to be there”. Powe, one the other hand, could be interested in making more $$, getting more PT, or coming back home. You never know, but I don’t see him going anywhere either.

I say draft
Robin Lopez. Sure he doesn’t have the offense of his brother (who we could pick if the ping-pong balls are nice to us), but we don’t need an offensive center. We need a center to rebound and defend when Biedrins is on the bench. Lopez is a fantastic shot-blocker, a great defender, and a solid rebounder. Plus he’s 7’1” and unselfish.
Whatever Mr. 69
Heh… get it… 69. It’s like that thing you do… heh…The numbers are opposite of each other and stuff…

W's can afford to develop another PG
but not a PF, which they NEED NOW. look, the W’s have six guys who can handle the ball and run the O, but they have nobody who can help dre out with weakside D, rebounding and general ass kicking toughness.
i like CJ, but he needs to mature and w/ monta in the backcourt, goddamn, they are small. too small and will get abused on D, already a weak spot for our guards. drafting a PG or picking up a younger guy through FA seems to be the way to go with the PG spot. develop him with dizzle as the role model.
i’ll contend the 2 major assumptions on this blog that dizzle needed a competent back up this season b/c i seriously doubt whether that backup would have ever sniffed the court. nellie loves to ride his big three… and that dizzle will be gone after next year. i don’t see it. with the W’s, he’s resurrected his career, garnered national attention and respect and most of all, he loves being a W. mullin will pay dizzle what he’s worth when his contract is up.
