What is more likely to happen?
As of right now, the Warriors are half a game behind Denver for the final 8th spot. After Denver plays tonight, both teams will have 5 games remaining.
So let's say Denver beats Seattle tonight, which is the most likely scenario. The remaing schedules look like this: (Denver would be up a full game)
Warriors:
4/8 Sacramento
4/10 Denver
4/12 LA Clippers
4/14 @ Phoenix
4/16 Seattle
Denver:
4/8 @ LA Clippers
4/10 @ Golden State
4/12 @ Utah
4/13 Houston
4/16 Memphis
If both teams win the games they "should win" and lose the games they "should lose", this is what I see happening (And I mark the GS-Den game as a Warrior win for the sake of the argument, cause if they lose, the season is pretty much over):
Warriors:
4/8 Sacramento W
4/10 Denver W
4/12 LA Clippers W
4/14 @ Phoenix L
4/16 Seattle W
4-1
Denver:
4/8 @ LA Clippers W
4/10 @ Golden State L
4/12 @ Utah L
4/13 Houston L
4/16 Memphis W
2-3
This would put GS up a full game and into the playoffs.
The bold is because I see those two games as neither "should win" or "should lose." It can go both way for either game. So my question is this: What is more likely to happen? A win for the Warriors at Phoenix, or a win for Denver at home against Houston?
If the Warriors can win that Phoenix game, assuming we win every other "should win" game, we're in. If they were to lose that game, however, we would need Denver to lose against Houston, assuming they have lost their "should lose games"
Long diary, I know, but what do you guys think? [editor's note, by WarriorForLife]
The second poll answer hould read "DEN win" not "DEN loses." I can't edit it now, though.
Update [2008-4-7 0:6:11 by WarriorForLife]: SONICS BEAT DENVER!!!
As of tonight, there is a 5 game season for the Warriors and Nuggets. The Warriors again control their own destiny. This Thursday matchup between those two keeps getting bigger and bigger.
This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

but since the streak houston has pretty been sub par in my opinion.
denver also begins a road trip the night after a home loss and then plays a road-home back-to-back. hopefully denver will blow some games on the road, as their record might indicate they are prone to doing. so I won't count seattle or l.a. out until i see the box score.
but the warriors still have an uphill battle to take that final playoff spot.

depends
If the Suns crap out and aren't in the race for home court they will prob rest their starters. If they are playing for homecourt, again different story.
The way I see it looking at the schedule is the team that looses the April 11th Suns v. Rockets game will be out of contention for that homecourt and rest it's players the next game. Based on the info available to us today one is not more likely to happen then the other. The real question you should be asking is which team will lose a game they shouldn't lose.

What a concept
Where do I start with that logic. Managment could have er should have traded MP and POB for whatever we could have gotten and now wouldn't be looking at two stiffs in street clothes riding the bench. Priceless.
Then there is the TPE. We knew we would be struggling to make the playoffs let alone get past the first round. So why not pull the trigger and get us someone who could contribute? Not being on the inside of Warrior management, I'm sure it isn't as easy as I'm making out; but, for crying out loud, is it no wonder our bench isn't as deep as it could have been. Pure genuis.
And let us not forget Nellie's total unwillingness to give our rookies, at least Marco and Brandon, enough playing time during the first part of the season that they would/could be more productive role players. What a concept--bring the rooks along to help late in the season. Brilliant.
So, Nellie totally overplays Baron, Jax and Monta and is surprized the team is out of gas at the end of the season when we esentially need to win every game to make the playoffs.
Whether we make the playoffs or not, we are toast in the first round unless we play Dallas or Houston sine Yao. Then we might have a chance although I think Adelman now has figured out how to beat Nellie's brand of basketball.
CWebb is undoubtedly the answer but I forgot the question.

agree
Nellie gets the credit for brining the team back to life but I don't see the Warriors getting any better than they are right now with him as the coach going forward and Mullin in the front office.

Hate is too strong a word
I will not feel one iota different if and when we make the playoffs nor when we lose in the first or possibly second round. That's when we get murdered on the boards by a bigger and stronger team because we have not drafted or traded for defensive minded players. I won't bore you (again) with my reasons for wanting to move into a post-Nelson era; but, I will say I never would say I hated on Nelson and, in fact, I have great respect for him. Those are your words, not mine.
CWebb is undoubtedly the answer but I forgot the question.

Funny
Sure there were some things Mullin and Nelson could have done during the season to make it easier for us to get in, but hopefully they learn from their mistakes and build on the success of this years team.
The only thing I'm really confused about is why, after last night in Memphis, did Nelson not play Bellinelli and match him up against Peja.

Nelson doesn't like playing rookies

Nelson...
Compound that with the lack of reinforcements at the deadline... you are left with demoralized and tired starters - they want to win, but their bodies just aren't allowing them to perform at the level they would like.
Nelson will probably admit as much in the off-season.

Go Warriors!
Warriors:
4/8 Sacramento W
4/10 Denver W
4/12 LA Clippers L
4/14 @ Phoenix W
4/16 Seattle W
The two teams i fear the most is Sacramento and the Clips.
If Ron Artest doesnt play tomorrow, my mind will be more at ease. I think the Warriors dont know what to do with Elton Brand. He hasn't played against this Warrior team this season, so maybe he'll have a bad game and I'll be wrong.
The Nuggets always scare me with the talent they have on that team, but they are dumb if they think they can outscore us. They have to play team defense on us. They can kill us if they go with the low post everytime. Carmelo could just dunk on us all night. I hope Al steps up or Brandon Wright with defense against him.
