OPEN THREAD: Day 13 of the 2k8 NBA Playoffs
The 1st round of the 2008 NBA Playoffs is almost over and aside from the title bouts of Al Horford vs Paul Pierce, Deshawn Stevenson (Fear the Untrimmed Beard ) vs Mr. Overrated, and the not so super Soulja Boy vs The Most Overrated Rapper Alive, I'd have to say it's been a huge disappointment. Supposed legendary 1st round playoff series Spurs vs Suns and Hornets vs Mavs were all busts. Lakers vs Nuggets was over before you could say "Fisher Flopped! "
The best part about the 2008 NBA Playoffs so far.
Jump for a quick preview of tonight's game that's less entertaining than a regular season Warriors matchup- Pistons @ Sixers, not my preview!

One more quick pit-stop before we get into tonight's lone matchup:
- Kevin Garnett Strikes Back: Celtics 110 - Hawks 85 [Green Bandwagon]
- Wizards vs Cavaliers: 2008 NBA Playoffs Rd. 1 Gm. 5 Blog [Bullets Forever]
G6: (2) Detroit Pistons @ (7) Philadelphia 76ers (Pistons Lead 3-2)
Usually close out games keep you on the edge of your seat, but this one just ain't doing it for me. I bet you I can count the number of people who are interested in this game outside of Detroit and Philly on one hand. Still, let's give both teams props. Next to the Spurs, the Pistons have been the most consistently great team of this decade. The Sixers and Billy Knight who constructed this roster have done a pretty good job too. Iggy's got all around game, Thaddeus Young was a draft day steal, Mohawk Dalembert (or whatever that 'do is) can protect the paint, and even though Andre Miller looks to have the worst conditioning this side of Oliver Miller he's still pretty effective.
Truth be told I can't tell whether the 2007-2008 76ers:
- are an up-and-coming team
- just overachieved
- are simply benefiting big time by playing in the league's JV conference
Don't be surprised if an amped up Philly squad with nothing to lose steals this game and sends this series to a once unthinkable Game 7 at the house of the barbarians. I'd put my money on the contradiction that is the Detroit Pistons (professional + volatile, experienced + prone to silly mistakes, fiery + unmotivated) though for this one.
Pistons vs Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals... eventually. Bank on it.

I'll openly admit I hate all things that are Boston sports, but with Powe (Oakland Tech + Cal), Eddie House (Hayward High), and Paul Pierce (born in Oakland) the Celtics have enough Bay Area ties to make me root for them to beat the Lakers in this year's finals.
By the way aren't you glad the Warriors selected Kosta Perovic instead of local favorite and role model Powe? No comment.](http://cdn2.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/6424/default_small.jpg)
