What We Need To Do This Offseason!
First let me start off by sayin Mullin has done a great job. So lets get to it.
First we trade Al for Gooden, the bulls have a high intrest in Al and we need a backup center who can rebound and ways more than 250 pounds.
Next we need a partime starting center were not going to get marion or brand so lets go after Haslem for a 2009 first rounder. He plays D, rebounds, and scores in the post, not to mention he is 26 and strong. Basicly the opposite of Al. And I believe wright will be ready to be a FULLTIME backup.
Now that we have addressed the front count , on to the backcourt. We offer Toronto our 14th pick, perovic, and c.j watson for a sign and trade on jose calderon and jamario moon. They need a big man and perovic will fit nicely there and a backup pg that does not complain on becoming a backup. He wont mind being a backup here because we have baron over t.j ford.
Then we sign beans, elis, and BOOM to as low as possible sign a d assistant not to replace smart. Then we have the pices to win a championship.
PG Baron/Calderon
SG Ellis/Bellinelli
SF Jackson/Moon
PF Haslem/Wright
C Biedrins/Gooden

Don't think so
Love the thought process, but I don’t think it’ll happen.
Sorry .. but the Bulls absolutely love Gooden. They envision him being what Ben Wallace never was for them – and with Deng, they’re hoping things are pretty set. Additionally, Al isn’t what the Bulls need/want. With Gooden at the 4, likely with Deng at the 3, and Nocioni off the bench .. why do they need Al? I can see the argument that Al’s contract is shorter, but Chicago wants a PG, not another tweener forward.
Next, you cannot simply trade “a first rounder” for Haslem. If salary cap restrictions were thrown out, then it can happen. Too many things have to happen (Baron opt out, for example) for this to even come close to happening.
Calderon wants to be a starter and will likely be that with Toronto, who is looking to trade TJ Ford.

thx pree,
for taking the time to say why this trade doesnt and wouldnt work out, saved alot of us alot of time
why in the world would toronto want cj watson(1 year team option, would have no bird rights or rfa, plus an unproven nba commodity) and perovic(just a big euro at the moment who hasnt done anything) for jemario moon, who made all nba 2nd team rookie and calderon who in toronto and colangelo are in love with(dont have to be an inside like pree to pick up on that : ), plus calderon will probaly get about 8 million around year way more than kosta an cj do)
Alot of people say bad things about Stephen Jackson, but don't give him credit for being a good basketball player.

+1
that toronto trade is one of the most ridiculous ones I’ve seen suggested on here. Good ideas of players who would fit well here, just not realistic.

Well
It was a nice lineup at least, but not the most likely scenario.

Trading Al
there are only a few players that would work salary wise with teams willing to trade: Mike Miller 9M/10M, Eddy Curry ( 9M,10M,11M), Ron Artest (7.5M), Chris Wilcox (6.8M), see anything you like? Otherwise free agent potentials: Chris Duhon, Melvin Eli, Diop, Najera, JR Smith, Carl Landry, Kurt Thomas, Jarvis Hayes, James Jones, we need to improve our bench! No to Pietrus, Barnes, Croshere, CJ, POB, that leaves us our starting 5 Baron, Monta, Jax, BW, Biedrins, with Belli, Buke off the bench.

bench
I think CJ and POB are decent players on the cheap. They’re players I’d like to see kept in the active roster. I agree with your starting 5, it’s the most realistic. but size in the front court will be a major problem. The dubs will really need to beat teams with a lot of speed and quickness. and will definitely need to score a lot of points. has the making of another exciting team… that’s me being optimistic

BTW
Landry is a very impressive guy and would be a great pick-up IMO. Proven to be a muscular powerhouse to be reckoned with in the NBA. Houston would be unwise to let him go.

Landry
Houston will probably match any offer and keep Landry as their starting PF, what about trading Al to Knicks for Lee, Rose straight up, use trade exemption plus draft pick and Belinelli to Kings for Artest. Draft at #14 Westbrook/CDR to back up Baron, move up in 2nd round and take Dorsey. Our starting 5 : Baron,Monta Jax, Artest, , Biedrins with Lee, BW, Dorsey, Buke, Rose, Westbrook/CDR off the bench for Nellie to use. Artest brings in the much needed defense and will to win, Lee gives the spark/rebounding that Barnes failed to bring, Dorsey at center gives us the toughness. Can Mullin pull this off?

no
first of all-you traded the draft pick to the Kings and then drafted Westbrook or CDR. Second, NY loves Lee and he’s one of their very few young pieces worth keeping….with a new regime there I doubt they want to him for a semi one dimensional overpriced forward.

What We Need To Do This Offseason?
There is only one answer…Draft Joey Dorsey! He will bring balance to our bench and will fulfill our need for a stud who knows his role i.e. rebound like a rabid madman, push people around under the boards, get tip in’s, put back dunks, ally-oops, swat people left and right and generally just kick peoples asses and love doing it. Anything else?... Let me guess, someone who scores more. Like we need to score more?! We were first in the f’ing NBA in almost every scoring category. How about we bring in someone who isn’t about 3 pointers and pull up jump shots!!!

I think Dorsey is drastically overrated
why do you like him? did you watch Memphis play more than a couple times? Is it because he looks a little like Ben Wallace and similarly lacks and remnants of an offensive game so you assume he is the second coming of big ben? I ask you Bowel Movement endorsers this every time and never get a response.

Dorsey
I like his potential as a role player for an NBA team. I understand his limitations, but at the same time i think that he’s good at what his strengths are. I like players who specialize in rebounding, defense and blocking shots. I like blue-collar ballers. These types of players are becoming more and more under-appreciated in the modern era of ultra-athletic, do-it-all youngsters. I didn’t watch Memphis play a lot this season, so i can’t really say that i think he’s what the Warriors need, but i also can’t really comment on your Ben Wallace comparison. But from what i know about him, i like Dorsey.

I only watched Memphis
when they were on national TV (a couple times during the year, 3-4 times in the tourney) but I’m just not seeing it. Adonal Foyle was that type of player who specialized in rebounding, defense and blocked shots too. I think Dorsey will be, at best, what Ben Wallace is now, with no chance of becoming the dominant rebounder and defensive player Wallace was.

a current ben wallace...
for under $2mil a year wouldn’t be such a bad thing. 7 and a half boards in 26 mins (wallace) is pretty good. but he’s not ben. big ben only played in structured half-court teams.. dorsey, on the other hand, came from an athletic running team that won the NCAA tourney. I’m not saying he’s a sure thing, and the warrior’s savior out of the draft. but I do think that makes him a perfect fit for the dubs

Foyle
you gotta admit that Foyle has always been good at what his strengths are. And that realization should have kept him a back-up center for his career. It’s when you expect him to be a starter and pay him 40mil that he comes up short.

What we need to do!!!!
We need to keep this team together, give more time to Wright and let him develop his offensive skill set, and not make any stupid trades like a 2nd rounder and cookie crumbs for Jamario Moon or CJ Watson and another scrub from the d league for Calderon or a little caesar’s 5 dollar pizza for Ron Artest or any of that. How about keeping a young core who won 48 games this season and letting them dictate what we should do during this season. In the interim, draft a player to replace the leaving Mikael Pietrus and Matt Barnes, sign another player to potentially play that swing position and go through training camp as usual. I’m almost certain we’ll have a competitive team next season. And what is this crap Peter Vescey is saying “the Warriors want Baron Davis to opt out so they can resign Pietrus and Barnes” He needs to get FIRED… as in RIGHT NOW! Stupidity lies within us all… it is just up to us whether we proliferate it by saying the outlandish ish we think or sound smarter by not saying anything.
by Mr. Monday Night on May 16, 2008 3:32 PM PDT 0 recs
Peter Vescey
is usually way off in his rumors talk. this guy loves to make people think he has the inside scoop, but really makes it all up in his head… on the other hand, he may not be way off in this case. If the dubs continue their trend and look to build a team with a young, talented core, similar to what the blazers did. letting baron walk would give us the ability to take our pick at some youngins. (I think Duhon would be a good replacement, but that would make our backcourt really small) ...3-5 years down the line, and some of today’s best teams on their downturn by then, the dubs could be in position to be a strong contender.
by oldskool on May 16, 2008 10:38 PM PDT 0 recs
regardless of signing Baron
we need to draft a sg sized pg to play along with Monta, 6’4” – 6”6” 200-220lb athletic, skilled pg/sg with great ball handling skills that can defend, penetrate and finish. This would give Baron some needed rest and have a nice 3 guard rotation to help on defense when Monta plays the 2. Westbrook, CDR, Rush, Gordon, would all be available and maybe we could even trade down or use our trade exemption to gain an extra pick. Our Warriors score enough points, but in order to win more games, we need to find a defensive skilled guard who excels on defending the opposing teams best player. I still think that Artest would be great on this team, he is a phenomenal defender at 260 lbs he can guard sg/sf/pf . Hopefully he learns from Jax and can be mature enough to control his emotions and just play.
by shootda3 on May 17, 2008 1:13 AM PDT 0 recs
Westbrook and Gordon
arent gonna be available at 14. I have serious doubts about whether any of the rest of those can play the point.

point guard
westbrook, gordon may or may not be available at #14 but can play some point guard with Monta, CDR and Rush would be 2 big guards with some ball handling that can play with Monta when he plays the point, we just need to pair up Monta with a bigger guard that can defend.

westbrook would be nice
so would mayo or rose obviously. CDR and Rush would be nice fits here, but not really as Baron’s replacement IMO. I’m not a Gordon fan, his game is too similar to Monta’s.

draft at 14
Get Russell Westbrook at 14. He’s a winner, Pac-10 Defensive POY, size, Brendan Wright already plays decent Defense and is athletic so no Darrell Arthur. CDR is another swingman who chokes at the foul line so he’s a no. Whatever big man the Warriors pick up will be a project so stay with BW. We have enough swingman Jackson, Pietrus (he’ll be gone), Barnes, Kelenna, Ellis, Harrington, Belinelli. Trade a Barnes or Kelenna and Harrington for a big man who rebounds and plays D. No center if available, unless B. Lopez falls which won’t happen. Joey Dorsey in Round 2 would be a good choice.
