Warriors Offseason, avoid Brand?
This summer there is obviously going to be a huge rush for teams to try and get O'Neal, Brand, and Jamison. Right now it looks like Brand is the mostly likely to leave his team. If he is the only top level PF able to be signed, he could very well only be signed for an insane amount of money. Say the Warriors did sign him, that would be a large portion of our payroll for the next few years. And while he did finish the season well, there is no knowing how his performance will be overall the next few seasons. We might end up overpaying like the bulls did with Ben Wallace.
Because of this I think it would be best to do a couple things.
1. First of all, make Brandon Wright a starter. Even if he doesn't play many minutes (20 per game), we need to do everything possible to make him a great PF. Or at least worth the J-Rich Trade.
2. Try and sign non-PF players while everyone is chasing after Brand. Right now I think it would be worth looking at Theo Ratliff as a back-up center. He's got good defense and hopefully won't cost too much money. Also, I would consider Chris Duhon. I don't think he's doing to be amazing, but definitely a solid back-up PG.
3. Lastly, I want to trade Al as much as a lot of people on here do, but I think we should wait. If we can get a great trade for him, that's awesome, go for it. But next season his value will go up because a team trading for him would gain a good player + an expiring contract.
4. Players like Pietrus and O'Bryant aren't doing much for are team but could probably fit in well with other teams. I think we should shop them around for sign-n-trades, maybe in some deals involving Theo and Duhon. Otherwise, I wouldn't resign them.

ummm
you do realize the only chance we have of signing brand is by letting baron walk, or ellis and biedrins walk right?
Why even mention it, theres literally 0.1% chance Brand even crosses the warriors’ mind this offseason

signing brand by letting ellis and biedrins walk
Brand and Baron would be a great pair to build a team around. I’d rather have Brand than Dris . Monta could be replaced easier than Brand could be replaced, 2 guards are easier to find than skilled big men. Of course the Clips would probably rather have Brand and Baron so we have little chance of getting him.

partially agree
Finally someone’s thinking logically. Monta’s scoring and lackluster defense can be replaced by many other SG’s in the league.
But if we let Biedrins go then we better use the JRich TPE or use our MLE to get a decent center.

yeah I agree with not trading harrington
I mean AL is still a very good player and he can help our team out a lot. I think that if we trade him for the sake of trading him, we loose a very capable scorer. Just keep him and maybe we could get someone better during the season. Or maybe maybe this might be a good year for him.

Players like Pietrus aren't doing much for are team
Pietrus is one of the few guys on our team who actually plays some defense, the others would do well to give it a try, they might find they win more games that way.

AL and MP
I don’t agree that Harrington is a very good player, but I’d agree that he is a good player. $9M is alot to pay for a inconsistent perimiter shooter. He does have his moments, but I’d rather use those moments to sell his value to another team, rather than be forced to remember those moments to justify his roster spot on the team. He is basically a lower FG% version of Monta. He can shoot, can’t drive as well, and can’t defend. Might as well start Monta at the 4.
As for MP, I like him, but he needs to step up to earn the money that he thinks he’s worth. He can be a good player for the W’s if he wasn’t so streaky. I think with more MPG you could see some improvement. We’ll see I guess.
