Ron Artest, Elton Brand, or The Matrix?

At this point, it seems unrealistic the Warriors would be able to acquire Ron Artest (who says he isn't even discussing moving with his agent)  and Elton Brand, who will likely be back on a much improved Clippers team.

I'm asking my fellow Dubs fans..what would you put out there for either of these veterans?  Acquiring them would take a large hit on our cap, as well as most likely giving up a big name player and draft picks.  On the other hand we desperately need the defensive presence these two would provide.

In my opinion, the best option would be to not get hardballed by BDiddy and spend big money trying to lure Marion from Miami.  Marion is more suited for the Warriors offense than Brand, and is a more versatile defender than Artest, as he can guard 2-4 easily, and, at times, has guarded PG's and C's.  But if Miami gets Derrick Rose, it will be hard to draw Marion from a playoff-looking 3 of  Rose, Wade, and Marion.

Just puttin' it out there.

not Marion

I would sign and trade Monta + Wright + use the trade exemption for Brand but I doubt the Clippers would give up their best player/allstar. I would trade Al for Artest but I doubt the Kings would trade with us unless we get a third team and give up future draft picks. It is very unlikely we would #1 win the lottery, #2 have Brand, Marion, or Artest playing for the Warriors. Potential 3-way trade partners for Al would be Toronto + (Belinelli) or NY who are looking to dump salary (Malik Rose orJerome James) and are willing to part with Lee. Mullin is very careful on taking back bad contracts and we may be looking at just acquiring free agents/ or draft picks and just developing our bench around Baron, Monta, Jackson,Wright, Biedrins and managing the cap for 2009 for free agents.
