Draft: The case for a project player. Prospects Included.
I am in the minority in which a few Warrior fans want to sweep up a project player (A player who has high potential, but may not have an immediate impact immediately). There are some College and International players who have both immediate impact playability and high ceiling potentials, but these players will be top 10 (Rose [PG], Beasley [SF/PF], Randolph [SF/PF], Bayless [SG], and Gordon [SG]). There are several main points in which why we should draft a project player and these are the reasons
Needs:
Post-Baron PG (Preferably Pass First PG)
True Center
SF
Defensive minded players.
1. Coaching Situatuion - Don Nelson will most likely not be here in 2 seasons. He has vowed to retire within the next 2 years as stated here:
"I'm getting up to the point where it's not an easy job," the 67-year-old Nelson said, adding that he doesn't see himself coaching past next season no matter what he chooses to do.

The chances of him retiring this year is also a possibility as he is still contemplating his future with the Warriors organization.
----If Don Nelson stays then there is an excellent chance that he will not let our draftee play, Don Nelson is not a huge fan on starting rookies and he has proven that this year with the little use of Perovic, Wright, and Belinelli. This is a very valid reason in why we should draft a project player.
2. The extinction of Run-N-Gun. With Don Nelsons immenent retirement this will likely signify the end of Warrior Run-N-Gun. With D'Antoni heading to the Knicks there are no more Run-N-Gun masterminds left in the coaching pool, unless Smart is recruited from within the organization.
----This draft does not have many Run-N-Gun and high tempo players that we can fully utilize in one season. Most players are accustomed to traditional and slower tempo basketball. This is the 2nd reason why we should not draft an immediate impact player as the utilization of this player will be useless especially considering the weak pool for Run-N-Gun players.
3. Like it or not, we will not be contending for the NBA Finals for awhile, I would say 2-3 more years mainly because the West is too stacked at this point in the NBA. There are 10 Teams that will be contending for 8 playoff spots and we did not make it this year, further supporting my point in which we should draft a project player. In 2-3 Years when our draftee will emerge Monta Ellis and Beans will be already seasoned w/ experience. Add a potential Bosh-esque superstar in Wright and a hopeful Manu Ginobli in Belinelli then I am telling you, we will be a force to be reckoned with.
4. I forgot what I was gunna say. Will edit when I remember. lol.

actually, youre a little late a couple of us already said he looks like a pretty good prospect…...roughly a month or two ago. and I doubt Ty Lawson will last til the middle of the second round.

on here yes.
Yea, I’ve been late here by a very short time. But, if you search “Ibaka” in search I started mentioning him over the past month. But I’ve know about him ever since he came to the US when he was in Vegas playing with Impact basketball, about a month after Summer League (August I think?).

I suspect that if Lawson returns to school if he’s really projected to slip into the second round.
It’s curious how drafts play out and why some players are in favor and others aren’t. Raymond Felton went #5 overall when drafted. Like Lawson, he was a small, amazingly quick point guard with some questions about his ability to shoot in the pros. Felton might have an inch or so on Lawson, but reality is that they’re remarkably similar in terms of tools and stature and results. Lawson has actually shown himself to be a bit more efficient at getting his shot to drop.

Ibaka
I see him more like a Samuel Dalembert type of player. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Ulitmate Team
Sign and trade boom to the heat for rose, and trade harrington for TJ ford, sign a couple fa and this could be our team
PG- Rose/Ford
SG- Ellis/Buike
SF- Jackson/Posey
PF- Wright/Powe
C- Beans/Jordan
Rose, Posey, Powe, and Jordon would make our team alot more efficiant on defense. And with all of that, we would be set for the next 3=5 years for sure if we can pick up a decent SF on the way. If we did this, we would be dominate baby!
According to the comminsioner of the nfl, 104 people retired last year. 7 due to age, and the rest because of Patrick Willis

why would the heat want baron over rose
if we want rose over baron? It would give them a very small window to contend for a championship. at this point Baron is the better player but why give up a potential stud who has 15 years in him for a guy who has 2 or 3 more good ones?
