Rumor: Kosta Perovic to Maccabi Tel Aviv
"Another rumor going through the ‘boards is the return of Kosta Perovic to Europe, and more specifically to Maccabi Tel Aviv. The Serbian big man, who appeared in just seven contests with the Warriors in his entire career, has never made any impact for Golden State. Honestly, I could never understand how the Warriors could sign him: Perovic is such an atypical player for the run-and-gun team that his career was over before he even went to the States. The Euroleague is a much better fit for the 2.18m tall kid from Serbia."-- Ball in Europe

Let's just say the 2006 NBA Draft was not Chris Mullin's finest moment. Using the midlevel exception on Kosta this past summer after a supposed shift towards fiscal "responsibility" from the front office so far looks like a big joke too. Think Kosta will be on the Warriors 08-09 roster?

What was Buike thinking I wonder
when he was making so much less than Perovic. Even Monta for that matter. How pissed was he when Perovic, O’Bryant, Belinelli, Croshere, Hudson and Wright were all out earning him.
I wonder if anyone could find Monta’s production vs. his salary and compare it to other players.

lol
well 700k wasn’t anything to scoff at if you came out of the D-league. Same with CJ. I mean I could live comfortably making 700k a year.

What?
What kind of contract does Kosta have with the Warriors? What is his incentive to leave ?
or How do we dump him??

his incentive
to leave would be if he wanted to play minutes.

Hmm...
Would Maccabi actually buy out his remaining contract or would he actually leave money on the table here? Either way I wouldn’t mind all that much if he left and his contract was off the books.

I too was confused by the signing, but to be fair it’s not like they used the whole MLE on him. He is making under 2 mil, about one third of the MLE. I would rather spend that money on a 7’2 prospect than a washed up PG with a bad hip (T-Hud).But it would have been better to try to lock up Buike on a reasonable multi-year deal, but we may still be able to do that this year.

OK, it’s a stretch, but signing Perovic may have been a financially good move in terms of what it prevented Mullin from doing.
Consider this also: by burining part of the MLE on Perovic, there wasn’t any way they could have given all of it to Barnes, who was apparently seeking exactly that sort of starting point on a multi year deal.
Yeah, it’s a stretch.

well
they shoudl get him while hes still a bargain cause of the exchange rate. hes basically free now from the exchange rate.
So I don't have a signature well these words would do! Who knew that upgrades can have downgrades too!

signing Perovic ?
Why did Mullin want Kosta? Did he think Nellie would play him? In his travels around the league over the centuries has Nellie ever had a big post up center and actually used him to advantage?

I'll openly admit I hate all things that are Boston sports, but with Powe (Oakland Tech + Cal), Eddie House (Hayward High), and Paul Pierce (born in Oakland) the Celtics have enough Bay Area ties to make me root for them to beat the Lakers in this year's finals.
By the way aren't you glad the Warriors selected Kosta Perovic instead of local favorite and role model Powe? No comment.](http://assets.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/6424/default_small.jpg)
