Batum?
With who’s left and no one that can help out right now, I kinda like Batum. Though he’s unrefined he has some good tools now to grow on. He can play perimeter D, gas a nice mid-range shot (needs work on nba 3), very athletic and quick and has the ability to create his own shot. Only downside is he’s somewhat Soft and doesn’t rebound. But at 14 I like what he can become.

Alexis Ajinca
Though Greene fits the warriors play style, and Koufos would add a nice shooting touch from Center, I think Ajinca combinse a little of BOTH of these players, he’s a legit 6’12” lol, but he’s athletic and can run the floor. He’s and “explosive” leaper, and has a face up game w/ a jumpshot! Not to mention his 7’8” Wingspan!
The Dubs just worked him and I hear he did pretty well, he’s got alot of people talking. Needless to say, he’s still a “Project”, but I think we need a Vet big man through free agency anyway since we already have Brandan and Andris.

A foreign guy that noone's ever heard of
Who heard of Andris Biedrins, Dirk Nowitski, or Marco Belinelli before they were picked? Only guys like Mully and Nellie.
If it were my choice, i’d go with Danilo so that Marco can take him under his wing.

At that point, Gallinari seemed like a pretty good value pick. Not even getting into his skills or whatever, an added bonus of that is the Warriors would now control the Italian and Latvian fanbases.
DeAndre Jordan didn’t even show that much in the pre draft measurements or whatever. He did about as well as Brook Lopez, but as someone somewhere said Lopez has actually shown he can play basketball.
Whatever, I’ll be happy with whoever we get, I’m just a little worried about McGee and Jordan.

no jordan please
please no jordan, and even worse please no mcgee.
Gallinari does seem like a great pick at the spot, looks like a better shooting rashard lewis type of guy (less post skills obviously). Not too interested in CDR either, Arthur would be ok, id kill for augustin though

Why?
Just one question
Well maybe more than one question.
Why should The Warriors draft a guy that for all of his ridiculous upside, couldn;t get off the bench for a mediocre college team?
I watched a UT vs A&M game last year and Jordan was consistently out of position, outmuscled, outrebounded. In essence, he was outed. He’s got slightly more potential than POB and we all know how well that worked out.
I know that this is heresy, but I’d rather take Koufos or even Hibbert. Koufos can actually pass and shoot and get immediate minutes, while "Mr. Ridiculous Upside" is dominating the NBDL, just like POB did.
Despite the knock on Hibbert’s lack of athletic ability, he has a highly developed BB IQ, can hold his position on the block, pass really well for a big man and has soft enough hands to catch passes from Davis, et al.
The ROI on Hibbert and Koufos is immediate.
Jordan not so much.

I strongly disagree with the DeAndre pick
The last thing this team needs is another scrawny, soft post player, I’ve seen quite a few of them in my day and don’t want another one especially one with all the questions marks that this guy has, he’s not motivated he didn’t really show me anything in the games I saw him play, and he didn’t seem to have any part of his game developed.
The list is a lenghty one, Victor Alexander, Joe Smith, Todd Fuller, Biedrins, Wright…. What the Warriors need right now is an enforecer, we haven’t had one since Adonal was actually playing. I would like to see us draft a player that is going to play hard, bang in the low block, grab rebounds, not give up position and I think that man is Robin Lopez.
This guy showed me some major tanacity and heart in the NCAA tournament and I believe that he will end up being a better pro than his brother. I really think that the worst part about our team as it stands now is that all of our front court players are not tough enought to bang with quality NBA front court players.

Cynicism gone awry...
DJ Fuzzy, it’s sad that you let your cynicism (justifiable or not) get in the way of actually using some intelligence in this mock draft. Taking Jordan with this pick is foolish… you know it and you admit it but you think the Warriors brass for some reason will do it anyway.
Maybe you’re right, but I’m sick of the cynicism brother. Of course there’s the potential for the Dub’s to screw this up but there’s also the potential for them to get it right. Granted it would take some faith and a bit of imagination to throw out a scenario that actually would benifit the Dubs. But instead of using your own intelligence to suggest what a good pick might be you just take the easy/lazy way out by being cynical.
I’m bummed that you chose to represent the folks at this blog so poorly…
Let it rest brother and bring something constructive to the table…

it doesn't really matter what
I (or we) think being that as an online community as a whole have tended to vote and hope for the same player only to shocked like crazy come draft day with results that haven’t quite panned out AT ALL yet. Why get my hopes up by believing that someone like Robin Lopez, Bill Walker (him and his banged up knees), or even Kosta Koufous (my 2nd pick if Jordan wasn’t available in this mock draft) would be drafted by the Warriors - all players in my opinion that can fill holes if not stat sheets. My mock pick was a little sour, but hey, the Warriors haven’t given me much hope that they have the fans interests in mind really - with the exception of ‘contract karma day.’ And to me, “constructive” is a little overrated because that equates being critical or “criticism” with “complaining.” I’m not saying your saying that necessarily…
Why not predict how the Warriors might goof this up? Isn’t that somewhat of a fun fan challenge in which we’d feel like we knew what was in the minds of real people in the professional sports industry today? But seriously, the Warriors are in a stocking-useless-bigs-race with the Seattle/OKC Sonics in what looks like the arms-races of the Cold War between the Soviet Union/Cuba/and the U.S. Except, the Warriors look more like Iraq now than anything as their big men are lot more like the “weapons of mass destruction” the US has been desperately looking for. Meaning? “Where are they? We can’t seem to find them anywhere!”
Sorry, if sounds choppy and random, on my way to catch a plane. Have a great weekend GSOM!

DeAndre Jordan or Anthony Randolph are my picks
To fiend:
Dwight was only 6-10/240 Going into the draft. Deandre is 6’11/250 and look where Dwight is now. Took awhile, but we’re not going to win any championships now.
I would love the DeAndre Jordan pick. Once Nelson is gone we will be able to develop him properly. A frontcourt of Jordan and Andris would be very nice. Almost another Twin Towers. The potential of DeAndre is enormous, almost reminds me of another Bynum. I have watched some of his aTm and although he didn’t do great in the ones I’ve seen, his hustle, heart, and toughness looks appealing especially in a Warrior uniform. He is only currently 19/20, enough time to develop with Brandan Wright and Marco. Once we develop our crop, I’m telling you: We will be good.

I will say it right now DeAndre Jordan will never be as good as Dwight Howard.
You comparing that kid to howard is utterly rediculous, Howard averaged a double double his rookie season 12 points and 10 rebounds. His frame was much larger the Jordan’s look at the kids shoulders even when he did first come into the league they were still massive.
And your comment of almost another twin towers if you’re refering to David Robinson and Tim Duncan, almost is not a word that should be used when comparing Biedrins and Jordan to those two hall of fame centers. I might like this kid better if he was going to stay in school and grow his game to match his measurements, like Robinson and Duncan both did, I’m sure it would have made him into a better basketball player but $$$ talks and players walk.
The biggest problem I see with this kid is his drive, at that size and skill set he should be putting up better numbers and playing a better game. Quite a few people have questioned his motivation and heart and I do to. I don’t want some young kid who’s just out to get paid on my team if he’s not going to play hard, there’s allready way too many of those in this league allready. I much rather have a mediocre player that’s going to hustle and scrap on my team. Sorry I don’t see your vision in DeAndre.

I don’t think its ridiculous, because DeAndre hasn’t even been in the NBA yet. Comparing Howard to DeAndre is ridiculous? Why? I was comparing frames because you call DJ scrawny and soft. And yes Dwight was alot smaller when he was a Rookie, and DJ is certainly taller and heavier.
Twin Towers usually refers to 2 7 footer Starters. The Admiral and Timmy weren’t the only ones, maybe the most famous ones, but certainly not the only ones.
Monta Ellis was never projected to be what he is today, thats an example coming from Warriors. Look how highly everyone thinks of him now, I believe DJ wil become a solid Center. If motivation and drive were truly concerns, why would he even be in the draft? And why would scouts place so much value on him? It’s because of his high ceiling and growth potential, not only in skills but hopefully passion for the game. I wanted Bynum in 05, but we opted for Ike., and just like DeAndre few people believed in him mainly because he was a “project” player. No one (unless Randolph drops) at 14 will have as much potential is DJ, and i am excited for this kid, just like how I was for Bynum (which we passed on)

What happened to Donte Green?
Green is our most likely and logical pick at 14 unless, and I say unless, Kosta returns to Europe as suggested in a recent rumor. Then Jordan would be ok unless there is the slightest chance Nelson decides to he wants to coach just one more year. In that case, forget drafting another “big” project.
CWebb is undoubtedly the answer but I forgot the question.

Jordon versus Speights?
Ok, let’s get serious here for a minute. Anyone know the relative merits of Jordon compared to Speights? I’m not a fan of drafting for need but they seem to be the big men available around our pick. If we draft best player available then then would either of these 2 still be in the running?
by Skeptic con Urquell on Jun 19, 2008 10:33 AM PDT 0 recs
draft
Jordan, Speights, and Green all seem like really rolling the dice. I guess maybe partly bc I haven’t seen them much. I really like Arthur. He’s got scoring skills and plays pretty tough inside. He dominated the Memphis big men in the title game. He kind of reminds me of David West, not great size but does everything you want from pf position and he’s a little more athletic than West (can block some shots). Just throwing it out there. I could actually see Nellie giving him some minutes this year and him being a factor pretty quick.

Draft
I pretty much agree with everybody else here. DeAndre Jordan’s also got “bust” written all over him. I understand why you (probably the Warriors will) drafted him. If everything works out, Jordan could be the low-post presence and scorer we need, but picking Jordan over some of the other players with more potential to be be productive players seems like throwing away the pick to me.
I’m thinking Jordan could turn out to be someone like Shawne WIlliams of the Nets (a service-able, rookie big man off the bench) but this could be Pat O’Bryant part 2, too. I’m thinking a better pick could be Donte Green. He’s a good scorer and shooter from 3, decent rebounder, and can ge blocks. He’d be drafted on potential, too, but I think stats-wise, he’s accomplished a lot more than Jordan.
