James Jones is up for grabs
Instead of letting our trade exception expire, let's use it to sign this free agent. He fits Nellie ball and will be an upgrade over the soon to leave Barnes. This would take Green and CDR off the table and we can focus on the pf spot.
Honestly, with the trade exemption, Al on the trading block, and the 14th pick of a decent draft where 6-15 aren't that much different, I'll be shocked if Mullin fails this time around to make us a better team. If he is thinking about who we will be in three years down the road and seriously gambles, AND lets the exception expire,I'd view that as a failure. Sadly, the recent comments by him and some of the bay area sports write ups seem to suggest this approach.

That’s almost reason enough for me to believe otherwise.

Sounds Good.
But the Trade exemption can only be used on a TRADE. Not on a free agent. Therefore the logic really isn’t there. We would have to do a sign and trade with Portland, and what can we really offer them that would be good for us.
I think we need to find someone besides Harrington, but our choices are very limited at this point. I would like to say that I see immediate improvement for this team, but with the recent trade talks and bad blood brewing, we would have to pull off a mega deal where we could land a true difference maker. i.e. Elton Brand. Without Sacrificing too much. So I would say if we improve we will have to do it with our current players coming into maturity.
