Around SBN: Auto Racer Jeffrey Earnhardt Excited to Make MMA Debut

Interviewed Randolph Briefly ..

We had a chance to talk to Anthony Randolph after he was selected by the Warriors .. he didn't really provide all that much insight, but I think that a lot of what he says is interesting as far as how cognizant he is of what he needs to work on. Although everyone sort of thinks that he's a project player, he's coming in with a chip on his shoulder and you always like to see that with young players.

I tried getting a hold of Hendrix but was unable to do so. I'll keep trying, but in any case, he's a really solid option. From everything I'm hearing, the team drafted him with the expressed intent of using him (they didn't just take a flyer on him, as Hardin was still available, but the Warriors passed).

In any case, to hear Anthony's (brief) thoughts on what he'll give the Warriors and some more of my insight, click here.

All in all, I think it was a good night for the Warriors. Not great, but they did the best they could.

In the article he mentions that the chances are still slim.

Well ..

For the past year, I’ve been saying they won’t use it. It simply won’t work numbers-wise and makes trading Jason Richardson really, really stupid. Some people around here might remember that I wrote last year that the TPE wasn’t going to be used and I’m still sticking to that because of what I’ve been told.

Think of it this way: you trade away Jason Richardson for savings to keep Monta and Biedrins without going over the luxury tax and you get a project big man.

Now .. what if you traded away Jason Richardson for a project big man and an overpaid and unwanted player from another roster that could lead to you losing either Monta or Biedrins?

Option 2 doesn’t feel very good to me. In this game of luxury taxes, I just can’t see the Warriors using the thing. And it isn’t just because “Cohan is cheap RAWR!” .. it’s because no one out there who is available is WORTH overpaying that much for. The ones the Warriors can get for the TPE aren’t the kind of players that can really make a difference.

And before anyone asks me about how Richard Jefferson was moved or Mike Miller or something like that, realize that other assets were moved as well. Sure, the Warriors could have made a play for RJ with the TPE, but they weren’t going to win that one. Yi was the piece they needed to make that happen. (The Nets got two lottery picks this year and Brook Lopez gives them options if they can’t re-sign Krstic).

ALright, I’m digressing now .. I think I answered your question :)

Thanks Pree

Hopefully the Warriors won’t use the TPE just for the sake of using it. And it’s good to know how Randolph feels coming into this season.

Keep up the good work!

well

J-rich is still my boi, so you probably fiqure out i was actually tearing a lil bit when he got traded for a that project big man that isn’t doing much. But, since we just drafted the next coming of Scottie Pippen, I have faith that he will become a great player. I still miss J-rich not playing here, but he will be going to the all star 4-5 time before his careers is over and put near 19,000 or 20,000 points. I wish him good luck. On the other hands, we need to develops AR into the great sf Pippen was.

I like his attitude

Randolph doesnt seem like the guy to back down from anyone, and while at the moment he may not be big enough to back that up all the time a summers worth of time in the weight room can make some changes. He also made a nice point that it isnt about size its about strength, and not making any comparisons to skill level, KG is only 220.
