Trade Idea
I thought yesterdays draft was a very successful draft to say the least. Anthony Randolph looks to be a real offensive force, and is has high defensive potential. He's just an all around great player. Richard Hendrix also looks good, but you never know how a second rounder could turn out. Although Hendrix is a pretty solid low-post guy in terms of creating offense, get rebounds, and playing goood defense. But that is at the college level, and we are in trouble if we want this guy to be our guy down low. Even though Beans is pretty good, I think we need to bring in another guy, along with Beans. So taking a big bold move for a guy in his mid 20s who can be a real force when healthy, here is the trade:
Philadelphia Trades: Samual Dalembert, signed at 10,251,435 through 2011 Warriors Trade: Al Harrington, signed at 8,425,625, through 2009 2009 Lottery Protected First Round Draft Pick Why we'd want it: I think this is a pretty realistic trade. As long as we do it over the weekend, this trade means we only have to pay for 251,435 of Dalemberts contract on the cap, if I'm not mistaken, due to a 10 million dollar trade exception from the jrich deal. We really need more defense and he is as good as anyone. He averages nearly 3 blocks a game to complement his 10 points and 10 boards. He could be a great addition and he is only 26. Though he is injury prone, the fact that we have Beans and that he is not costing us much money in the cap should mean this is low risk. The 09 pick will be lottery protected incase everything goes wrong, but it should not be a big deal. Why the 76 would want it: Al Harrington is not the ideal fit for the 76s, but he does bring a few things to the table. 1. Gives them 2,000,000 more in cap room to resign iguldala 2. Expiring contract is great for mid-season trades 3. No team in the east wants to have a slightly above average player costing 10,000,000 signed through the 2010 free agency class(which consists of lebron, jobe, wade, bosh, amare, and more) 4. With Speights, Smith, and Randolph, 3 defensive minded bigmen, they need to add somemore offense 5. They have almost no outside shooting, and Al would not only ad that, but would draw big men out of the key, allowing slashers like igudala and t.young to go crazy 6. He can run the floor in the 76s up tempo styleThis FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

Trade exemption does not mean...
that Dalembert’s salary will only be on the books for the amount over the $10 mil. And the TPE can’t be combined w/ another player in a trade. As for the trade in itself… I don’t think it would work numbers wise. The salaries would need to be w/in a certain % because the warriors are over the salary cap.

Dalembert
would be helpful for the Warriors but as MMN stated, players can’t be combined with the TPE. It could be utilized as part of a larger trade (two separate trades)
hypothetically speaking, if we were to really trade for Elton Brand LAST YEAR, we’d use it to take back some bad contracts because the Clippers would not trade Brand to us as intra-division rivals without having to pay a higher price than most other teams:
2007
Trade 1
Elton Brand (15mm) for Al Harrington (9mm), Mikael Pietrus (4mm) Marco Belinelli (1.5mm), Future Protected 1st
Trade 2
Trade Exception (9.9mm) for Cuttino Mobley (9mm)
The player we absorb using the trade exception would have to have a salary no more than the amount of the exception itself.
Sam would be a good fit in G.S., but I think he’s a bit overpaid ($34mm over the next 3- yikes) Dalembert wouldn’t be the player we go over the luxury tax threshold for. (Another couple million and we have a Brand, Marion )

Props for the idea
even if it doesn’t work out.
Please if anyone proposes a trade, check out the rules for any part that you wish to use. Useful info on the TPE and salary cap can be seen here:

Chicago or Indiana
Chicago could unload a point guard, as could indiana. Ben Gordon’s salary isn’t huge, but i doubt they would want to trade him. Hinrich’s salary on the other hand is pretty big.
Tinsley could be doable with Indiana.

yo we could....
pull out the elton Brands if we package Al harrington, Brandon Wright, baby rocky, and future number 1 pick. it sound crazy but it might works.

Even though Elgin Baylor is clueless, I don’t think he’s dumb enough to trade Brand to the Warriors. Strangers things have happened though.
