The Screw Biedrins Get Brand thread

Now that we've got some cap room from Baron's opt out, I think we should try to sign Elton Brand instead of Biedrins.  The guy is a 20-10 machine and plays pretty good defense from what I can tell.  If we can resign Baron for less money but for a longer term deal like 3-4 years, then we might still have enough money to also resign Monta Ellis assuming no other suitors with massive $$$ come knocking. I'm not sure if we could sign all 3 players without going over the salary cap, but if we signed all 3 to long term deals, then I'm sure they'd take less money (isn't that why they all walked away from a guaranteed 17-18 mil this year?)  Then we can use the midlevel exception to grab someone like James Posey?  Voila, we have a playoff team:

Baron

Monta

Jackson

Harrington

Brand

Otherwise, if all else fails, throw $$ at Josh Smith.

biedrins

is younger, cheaper to sign, has two fully functioning achilles tendons and is a better fit for the warriors’ system than brand. all that adds up to him being the better guy to have signed for the next few years. i wouldn’t want to give brand the money and years he’ll ask for without knowing for certain that he will come back 100% healthy and in top form. and if we don’t have baron next year, the future is no longer now, but rather in the future once again. get biedrins and monta long term deals and hope for better years to come.

brand is a great fit for the warriors

he can bang with big men we struggle with, he can rebound, he can run the floor and he has a great midrange jumper. He’s agile, quick, and effective, and has had no major injuries prior to this. If we can get him at a good price, we’d be getting one of the best and underrated power forwards in the game.

its not like beans comes cheap...

he’ll command around 10 mil/yr from what I’m seeing. Because Brand has had a serious injury, his value is lower and so it won’t be much more… at least from how I see it. On the other hand, I suspect that Baron will go to LA because it’s where he’s from and they have $$. Plus my original idea of Baron and Elton and Monta is unreasonable beyond belief.

if the clippers want BD

they better sign and trade Brand to us. They could get Al harrington too if they want. than turn around to trade Action Jackson for kirk Harich since he is odd man out in chi-town. Problem solve there.

PG-Harick(however you spell his name)
SG-Monta
SF- AR(nellie better let this kid provesome of his some skills in his rookie yr)
PF-Elton Brand
C-Beans

Problem solve there. we return to the playoff again.

you are joking right?

even if that happened, we’d be hard pressed to win 48 games again.

Beans

he is a good rebounder, but look at a few things. Everyone scores 20+ on him. He has no toughness. He cannot create offense. He has no low post offense. he can block shots but tries to draw charges when point guards drive in the lane. We need a tougher center.

No low post offense?

I’m pretty sure he shot around 63% from the field last season and last time I checked, he wasn’t a perimeter player.

yeah

but you said no low post offense when that statement is completely false

Your exact words

were “He has no low post offense” I CAN read. and I’m not talking about ur post, I’m talking about what montasmob69 said.

63%

That;s because he is getting set up. Have you ever actually seen him post up, back a guy down, do a nice move towards the basket, and finish. If you answers yes then YOU ARE A LIAR. He can’t create his own offense from posing up. All baskets are from put backs and easy dunks. Just because you shoot 63%, doesn;t mean you have low post offensive skills. Tyson Chandler shot 63% as well and he only scores on allie-oops, unless he is guard by Andris. The guy gets pushed around all day. He tries to draw charges against point guards and is and will never be a real preseance. We need a guy like Okefor now that Boom is a Clip. Nuff Said.
