Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

Fear the Beard is heading to LA

Geez, that was quick.

NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that the guard reached a verbal agreement with the Clippers on Tuesday night and will sign a new multiyear contract with Los Angeles after the leaguewide moratorium on signings and trades is lifted July 9.

Davis was in line to make $17.8 million in the last year of his deal with the Warriors, but after telling the team that he wanted to stay, opted out at the last minute.

I just read it right now. I’m in shock…

I just heard on the Radio that with BD off the books, we can do a reverse J-rich deal and trade a draft pick for a really good player.

by joestar on Jul 1, 2008 5:39 PM PDT reply actions

you know what

Fuck Baron

I can’t wait to boo the hell out of him.

He just absolutely hand cuffed us for next season.

Thats an insane amount of money. He’s not worth it.

by joestar on Jul 1, 2008 5:41 PM PDT up reply actions

Agreed

I would have said he’s worth 4yr/50mil tops (which is what Jamison just got from Washington). Clips overpaid and they’re gonna be hurting when BD is 34 and looking like Stephon Marbury (best case) or Steve Francis (worst case).

Nothing we could've done

For all the moaning about money, he gave them a hometown discount

by FHWANG007 on Jul 1, 2008 5:40 PM PDT reply actions

discount my ass

I’m sure that is the largest offer he could have found anywhere, including here.

Wow

After the day of KNBR talkin about this, I still believed we would get him back or at least sign and trade him and now this?? All I can say now is I hope Ellis aint goin to leave because if he does, i dont know what I’d do. Ok probably still watch the games on tv but dammmnnnn….

13 mil a year? I dont kno if I should complain about whether thats a lot or that was cheap…right now, I wish we made that deal, but I guess theres nothin to be done about that now

Fate is inexorable

by howcanilose on Jul 1, 2008 5:42 PM PDT reply actions

13 mil a year is nothing, but FIVE YEARS!!! NO WAY!!!

by joestar on Jul 1, 2008 5:43 PM PDT up reply actions

Fuck Baron

Wow what a bitch. Talk about a quick turn around. we are screwed.

Listen to the wise, be patient.

I can’t handle the truth

by disguy on Jul 1, 2008 5:55 PM PDT up reply actions

Honestly . . . .

I know he loves LA, and wants a long term deal, but to play with the Clippers? I saw it coming, but never ever thought it would happen! Now I’m glad I decided to buy a Bellinelli Jersey instead of the Davis one.

by ferask1 on Jul 1, 2008 5:56 PM PDT reply actions

eh, God bless 'im

He gave us some great times, and now he’s going back home for more money than we would’ve given him, to a team that’ll probably be better than we would’ve been. Absolutely the right call on his part.

I don’t love how our team’s looking all of a sudden, but I bear the guy no ill will. He’ll be missed.

Don't Hate

I don’t like all the hate here on this board. BD gave us some good times. Let’s look to the future and hope that Mully makes some good decisions for the coming year.

by Spree15 on Jul 1, 2008 6:44 PM PDT reply actions

Dont hate

Why is everyone hating on BD cause he’s gonna be a Clipper, its the warriors fault for not giving him an extenstion and he knows it would have probally been his last year as a Warrior anyway. What they warriors need to do now is get some youngs talented young point guards i would like to see them find a way to get jamont gordon who surprisingly wasnt drafted and javaris crittenton, since BD is gone they should trade Stephen Jackson and Al Harrington unless they want a couple of vets to help out the younger guys. I would like to see a roster looking something like this

point guards:Jamont Gordon/Javaris Crittenton
shooting guards:Monta Ellis/Marco Belinelli
Small Forwards:Kellena Azuibuke/ Anthony Randolph
Power Forwards:Brandon Wright/ Richard Hendrix
Centers:Andris Beidrins

i dont know if theres much of a way but i would like to see if they can trade Stephen Jackson and/or Al Harrington for some young talent so the Warriors can be a real threat to the title in a couple years, they could use a young explosive center like Deandre Jordan as a backsup for Andris. I feel like with this group of young talent. they could win at least 40 games, i think they are better then the Portland Trailblazers of last year who won 41 games we just need one of the them to step up like Brandon Roy and lead the team, if any of them it would probaly be Monta but seems to be a quite one.

that is messed up, when he first put on that warrior uniform i thought he wuld bea warrior for life, he is leaving alot of great moments though; the game winner against houston, the dunk on kirilienko, the game winner against boston, damn baron!!! damn!!!
