Post Baron Davis Era

IDK excatly how much cap space the Dubs will have now, i think they have 15-20 mil. Whatever it is, its alot. The way i see it, the Warriors are extremely under pressure as we the fans expect the Dubs to bring in a player that can match or even more out due what Baron has brought to us. The Warriors are gunna have to make a splash in FA if they want to aviod facing another 12 year drought.

Some PG's Warriors should consider is:

Jamal Tinsley- old and injury prone but i say we can get him at a bargin to be a Plan C option. Hes going to be bought out is Indy can find a trade.

Stephan Murbary- again, hes old and injury prone but he does still got game in him. I think hes a high risk/ high reward player. Assuming Walsh buy's him out.

Mo Williams- young player who can do a solid job. Contract is horrible tho.

Raymond Felton- a bit of a strech, but another young PG who may be on his way out.

Kirk Hinrich- may be on the way out since Rose can into town. Also is young and can lead the team but again has a big contract. (I'd prefer as of right now)

What do you guys think. Obviously there is a slim chance that the Warriors are gunna find their post Baron answer in FA, so where do they turn to? I dont see much in FA  that can make a difference to the Warriors except for Brand, so what now.

those are not really good options. This just makes me more sad about the situation right now.

Man, if Monta was ever going to develop into a credible point guard, now’d be the time.

We still have this:

PG – Monta Ellis
SG – Stephen Jackson
SF – Brandan Wright
PF – Al Harrington
C – Andres Biedrins

There’s actually a fair amount to like about that lineup. It’d be a significantly better rebounding & defensive team than last year’s version, and there’s still a lot of scoring potential. It’s not necessarily a playoff-calibre starting lineup… it’s probably not even a .500 starting lineup. And our bench is obviously decimated. But it’d be a cheap lineup, that’d allow us boatloads of flexibility going forward.

But the only way that happens is if Monta can handle the point offensively. And the odds of that currently look, much like our frontcourt, slim.

warriors should try to get after ben gordon.

why?

we don’t need an undersized two to go with your undersized two who is going to have to play the one

I think that Nelson knows full-well that Monta is not point guard material (he has, on numerous occasions, said that Jackson is the secondary ball-handler above Monta) and will be supremely displeased if he’s left without a decent point guard. And judging by all these amazing moves our front office has made thus far and the quality of point guards available I think it’s safe to say the Warriors are fucked.

Jesus, Mullin, just up the offer for him.

I personally am willing to put the crappy circus show

That has been Stephon Marburys life in the past. I think he is worth a shot. A very very very very cheap short shot. A Warren Sapp type circumstance…. Everyone thinks youre done, so what do you have to lose? I personally suffer from slight depression and realize the value of a new start. I say, if plausible…. go after Marbury and Najera. Dont laugh… but mabye even see how cheap we can get Chris Anderson.

Some other FA’s i like are

Fred Jones, James Jones and Beno Udrih

Now im not saying these players are who the W’s should sign. Just saying its worth a look-see.

I think he is worth a shot.

Hell yeah, he’s a lot better than anything we have now. Starbury has talent, maybe Jax can bring it out? or wonder if Jax might be ready to abandon this sinking ship?

Not a solution at PG

but as a Blazer fan, you could do worse than James Jones—assuming that we don’t re-sign him. (Good chance we won’t…)

He's a small forward though

He’s a nice role player but he is in no way a point guard.

The Staw That Stirred The Drink

None of those players mentioned would be a good fit on the Dubs right now. I don’t have an answer for who we should pick up to replace BD, but BD truly made the Dubs work. He made the team flow. He made guys like Andris better where on a lot of other teams Andris may not perform the way he did with BD. Same said for damn near every other player too. BD also pulled our arses out of some gnarly situations a la Lakers and Celtics of this year including the entire playoffs of ‘07. I can’t think of any one player that may be available that could even come close to filling BD’s shoes. That’s what really sucks about the entire situation-the dubs aren’t looking too good for next season.

BD, I can’t wait to hear the Roaracle boo the living hell out of you next year. You are a prime example of having no faith, no loyalty and bowing down to the all mighty dollar. I know you have to look out for yourself and all living it hard out there, but dude, talk about smoke in mirrors…

ehh shit!!!!

there goes our season. And we got nothing back for him. And they didn’t try to sign Brand here either.

by warriorfan4life on Jul 1, 2008 7:26 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

brand was never ever coming here

he opted out so the clips could sign bd and then resign him for less
