To hell with all this Memphis talk

So I can't believe that this many people are juiced about trading for raw, unproven point guards that can't even fill their stat sheet on a 23 win team. And I can't believe that so many people on here would take any one of them with the cost of taking Pillsbury dough boy Antoine Walker and his 9 million dollar krispy kreme budget that comes with him. We’re talking about potentially 12 million worth of damage for a unproven player and a fatass who can't do shit on the floor anymore. This talk wouldn't be as ridiculous if there weren’t any proven pg's out there, but there are. Pargo....Solid player; Tinsley...solid player, proven starter, closest thing to a B. diddy type guard out there this year; hinrich...solid, proven, brings defense. SO lets stop talking about all these losers like Marbury and any player on Memphis when there are guys out there that can come in and help us today. Let’s not forgot that our team won damn near 50 games last year, were not as far off and as out of it as we all think. LETS STOP TALKING and THINKING LIKE WERE LOSERS.

This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

THANK YOU!

Are you the only Dubs fan that makes sense? I totally agree w/ you! Hinrich is our man.
Forget young, pudgy, unproven PGs.

Hinrich is a proven starter, puts up decent numbers 16 pts, 6 dimes (2 yrs ago). Last year was a wreck because the Bulls were a wreck, so you can’t judge him by last year. Hinrich is much better than any Memphis PG, Starburied RIP, or Tinsley.

asdf

LOL, have you seen Hinrichs contract? Why would you want to add a player of his caliber at that cost for that long, I’m pretty sure as Warriors fans, if you’ve been around before 2007, have seen enough POS contracts, lets not add another.

Stephen Jackson catches on the wing and faces up against Vujacic. When Jax looks down and sees Vujacic, his eyes light up. He pulls out his nine, screams "Thug Life" and empties the clip, then drives in for a basically uncontested layup.

The Memphis PG will come relatively cheap, with the big contracts expiring in the short term, and a low risk high reward type of deal with the PGs.

J Rich 4 MVP

you’re a retard. questionning my fanhood.

who do you propose we get then? Crittenton is garbage. 7 pts per game w/ Memphis! WEAK! You pay for what you get and yeah, we pay nothing for a Memphis PG and get nothing in return. Crittenton or any of these other guys on Memphis are just like our old friends: Bimbo Coles, Vonteego Cummings, the old John Starks, or Mookie.

Who should we get “J Rich 4 MVP”?

by GoldenStateDubtronic on Jul 10, 2008 5:54 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Crittenton

was a rookie.. 7 pts a game is decent. he has a lot of potential

by Agent Zero on Jul 10, 2008 9:40 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

wow dude

before u get all cocky, u DO realize critt was playing LIMITED minutes right? 7 points is great for a rookie with limited PT. he wasn’t a starter since he was a rookie. He’s going to be a solid pro. Hinrich’s contract is gonna ruin the team if we get him. Before you start talkin smack, get your facts straight.
no one’s “questioning your fanhood”...ur only lookin at the surface of the consequences if we get Hinrich. If u think Critt or any one of those Memphis guards “pudgy”, you really don’t know anything about the players. Lowry and Critt WILL BE BETTER than hinrich…mark my words. add that to the fact that Hinrich’s contract is crap, and you’ll see why the Memphis talk is a legit solution.

by thebaydestrian on Jul 10, 2008 11:03 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hinrich’s contract is crap,

He’s like a point guard version of Dunleavey!

by Skeptic con Urquell on Jul 10, 2008 11:13 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

dude...

I’d be happy if we got Hinrich, but everyone’s saying that he’s staying in Chicago and is going to play the 2.

I want Crittenton, personally. This team is going to suck balls for a while, so why not get a young PG with a high ceiling instead of a so-so veteran. Pargo would be ok, but I don’t think he’s a starter.

by kinetic on Jul 10, 2008 2:20 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

It's all about the cost-benefit ratio

Sure Hinrich is better, but he’d cost us Al Harrington, a player that could help us. Crittenton or Lowry will cost us much less. Taking on Walker’s contract which will end after this year isn’t that big of a deal. Losing a mid-late first round pick isn’t that bad.

Also reports are that Chicago isn’t dealing Hinrich anyways.

Lowry’s a lot better than Pargo.

I actually wouldn’t mind taking a gamble on Tinsley or Marbury, but it’s not like these guys are free agents and we can pick who we want. They’re all still on teams and they have big contracts that we have to match if we want to trade for them.

It's almost like the Warriors have 6 guys out there... they always have a guy open! - Jon Barry commentating game 3 last year

by gsw4life on Jul 10, 2008 2:28 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I agree

I’d love Hinrich, but at what cost? Everyone keeps saying Al, but why would Chicago do that deal? They have Thomas and Deng (most likely) as their 3/4 players. Not to mention Nocioni and Sefolosha as pure 3s.

Tinsley? Wow, I’m really not a fan of his game. He monopolizes the ball, has a bad contract, is injured, volume shooter. Ugh.

Marbury? Man…I just don’t know, even if he’s bought out and we get him at the minimum. I understand we could just release him if it wasn’t working out, but why even risk it. He’s a cancer.

I like Pargo, but he might be looking for a bigger deal than Mully is willing to offer.

Why not go young and cheap? Lowry (preferably) or Crittenton or Livingston to go with Watson, why not? I don’t see the upside in bringing in a Tinsley type veteran with a big contract as a backup.

You may run like Hayes. but you hit like sh**!

To Hell With all this Hinrich talk

we’re not trading memphis for a star player…we’re jus tryin to get a BACKUP…lets get crittenton or conley and let them back monta up while they develop their own game

by 3Kings650 on Jul 10, 2008 2:36 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

premise...

I seriously don’t think Monta is going to be as effective from the point…lets get a starter and Monta continue to do his thang

by sarangc on Jul 10, 2008 2:45 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

No choice

Monta, Maggette, and Jax are not gonna be sixth men, so unless you want to put one of them at the 4, we have to deal

by FHWANG007 on Jul 10, 2008 3:07 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree...

I think this whole monta playing the point experiment is going to end horribly.

by kinetic on Jul 10, 2008 2:53 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

This is Idiocy

Let’s trade a starter (Harrington) for a OK PG who will fill out our bench. Nice. Plus, financially constrain ourselves with their salary.

I’m sure we still want Hinrich on our team in 4 years, not to mention even dealing with Indiana again.

by FHWANG007 on Jul 10, 2008 3:06 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

how about...

we trade Al future 1st for Marco, Jarvis, Warrick. All 3 can make the rotation and certainly gives depth to our bench.

by Spee-D on Jul 10, 2008 9:41 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Why Warrick?

I like him, but isn’t he similar to Wright and Randolph, and aren’t we expecting them to be better? I mean, unless you’re trying to build a team full of skinny dudes. In which case, good choice. However, all in all that’s not a horrible trade, to be honest… But it’s only interesting with Warrick, funny enough. :)

by b.radley on Jul 10, 2008 10:23 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

There are plenty of respectable PGs out there

Sam Cassell, Shaun Livingston, Carlos Arroyo, Tyron Lue, Janero Pargo, Earl Boykins, Daniel Gibson, Juan Dixon, Lindsey Hunter, Flip Murray, Juan Carlos Navarro, Chris Quinn, Sebastian Telfair, Keyon Dooling, Brent Barry….

I know not all of these guys are true point guards. Some of these guys are old veterans that could mentor Monta Ellis into becoming a great point guard. We wouldn’t have to trade anyone to get one of them and for the most part they would be pretty cheap. I would love to see Sam Cassell come in as a mentor/player/coach for the Warriors. Cassel has mentioned he would like to get into coaching. He can play some limited minutes as the #3 PG and we sign a Janero Pargo, Shaun Livingston (assuming he is able to play) or Keyon Dooling to play the #2 PG or play alongside Monta. There is really no need to trade for a guy who is hugely overpaid like Kirk Hinrich. If someone like Stephon Marbury gets release and we pick him up like we did with Webber last season, fine with me. But don’t overpay for a player and get stuck fitting the bill. Cough, Adonal Foyle, Cough

It’s pretty clear to me that Harrington is being shopped around. With Atlanta looking at losing Josh Smith (who I would really love to see playing for the Warriors), they would probably be happy to sign and trade Smith and get something in return. I don’t think that they will take Harrington since they already had him in Atlanta and probably don’t want him back.

So let me propose another option. There was this skinny player that used to play for the Kings a few years ago. He was really raw but very athletic a lot like Josh Smith. He got bigger and that raw athletic ability grew into basketball skill. He is currently playing for a team that has been at the bottom of their conference for a few years now and I have read that management has been shopping him. He’s fairly injury prone to boot which is a bad thing but could make getting in a trade that much easier. I’m talking about Gerald Wallace. He’s pretty much a carbon copy of Josh Smith.

So assuming everything goes to plan and lightning strikes and this is total long shot at best, our starting lineup would be:
PG Monta Ellis
SG Stephen Jackson
SF Corey Maggette
PF Gerald Wallace
C Andris Beidrins

Coming off the bench:
PG Sam Cassell, Keyon Dooling or Shaun Livingston or Janero Pargo, C.J. Watson
SG Kelenna Azubuike
SF Matt Barnes?, Austin Croshere?
PF Ronny Turiaf, Brandan Wright, Anthony Randolph
C Patrick O’Bryant

Gerald Wallace. He’s pretty much a carbon copy of Josh Smith.

If they want to move Wallace maybe we can trade Montay and someone for Wallace and Felton? That would solve our point problem and our defensive problem at 2 spot and give us a steady PF as well?

by Skeptic con Urquell on Jul 10, 2008 9:05 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Gerald Wallace at 4...

is a big risk. Didnt he play 4 with the Bobcats and what happened…. he was banged up alot where he had 2 major injuries. Seeing Wallace at the 4 spot gives me the chills.

by Spee-D on Jul 10, 2008 9:43 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

+1

He’s a 3, and a pretty darn good one. I’d take him, but I don’t really think we have an angle to get him. And he’s probably too banged up now anyway. Plus he’s not cheap. I’d be interested in him at the 3, but not the 4. And didn’t we just get Maggette? And don’t we have Jax? Doesn’t seem to fit…

by b.radley on Jul 10, 2008 10:26 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wallace at PF

Wallace plays PF for the Bobcats now on a team that plays more of a half court style game than the Warriors. In the Warriors small ball style of play, he would have to play PF and his lack of size and strength at the position would be far less of a problem. I admit that his natural position would be the SF but with the Warriors he could play SG, SF, or PF. With Nelson coaching, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw him playing C for a few minutes. His athleticism and the Warriors style of play would give most power forwards fits trying to defend him. Think about it, the Warriors have played Stephen Jackson at PF and Al Harrington at C. Is it really such a stretch to think that Gerald Wallace could play PF for the Warriors?

Ok, I’m down . If we want Felton and Wallace who would the Bobcats take along with Montay?

by Skeptic con Urquell on Jul 11, 2008 10:31 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I wasn’t thinking about getting Felton in the trade. I was thinking a straight trade of Harrington for Wallace but I do like Felton. If we sign Turiaf and Okafor goes to the Clippers, they will need another big guy. Trade Turiaf and Harrington for Felton and Wallace. The numbers should match up pretty well.

Agreed totally

Antoine Walker can’t do anything but be unconsistant from threes and he cant run with us
