Randolph showing off his handles

Anthony Randolph followed up his 30 point performance with a somewhat pedestrian 11 points and 5 boards against the Mavs the other night. He's also got 9 turnovers in the first 2 games which needs to get fixed. Perhaps he's adjusting to the higher quality of play or handling the ball more than he did in college, but I'm sure Nellie doesn't give him any time if he keeps this up. Of course it's only been 2 games, so I'm still excited to see what he can do tonight against the Bobcats.

Marco Belinelli showed what he can do in Summer League by dropping 25 points even though he was just 2-8 from 3 point range.

Brandan Wright was perhaps just as impressive by scoring 15 points by going 7-10 from the field. His 7 boards were also nice to see in just 25 minutes. What's more is, he swatted 2 more shots and is now averaging 3 per game. Hopefully, he can continue to protect the basket like that and challenge some shots in the interior in real games.

I'm disappointed in CJ Watson's performance thus far. Just 6 assists in 2 games isn't what a backup PG should be doing. But I'm not watching the games, so it's hard for me to tell if he's doing a good job initiating the offense. On the positive side, he's averaging 4 steals a game. I know he's still young and showed some good things last year, but he's got to record more assists.

Tonight, they take on the Bobcats who show off absolutely nobody except DJ Augustin. Perhaps former Warrior Jermareo Davidson will want revenge for the Warriors trading him on draft night in last year's JRich trade but I doubt it.

Go Warriors!

Hey FJ!

CJ Watson has been playing very well so far in the first two games of summer league… It’s just that most of the time the players that he passes it to are unable to complete plays and also result in turnovers many of the time… Otherwise he is very aggressive in his body language while on the court and take it to the hole much more often than before… I think practicing with Monta Ellis has also helped his cause in a sense that he is imo much much more quicker than before. He is also more focused when trying to finish at the rim… rather than just flippin’ up shots, he looks to finish after contact rather than just settling for the 2 pts. at the line.

The one thing I’m personally concerned about is Randolph’s turnovers… it seems that 1 out of 3 times that he has the ball he turns it over… It’s something he’ll have to work on.

Marco Belinelli has also improved his ball handling skill. He is making the more obvious passes but I think it still is a step since he makes better decisions with the ball rather than just looking to shoot the ball every time he gets it.

Stop crying about it alright?!?! GO MULLIN.

From what i hear Cj is doing pretty good as well.

I like the aggressiveness he’s bringing to his game.

The A/TO ratio isn’t good, but hey, it’s summer league! He’s not going to have potent scoring options around him at all positions, so it’ll be harder for him to rack up assists.

From what i’ve heard from the second game, that even though he recorded only one assist, he could of easily have had 3-4 that game.

CJ's defense has been solid

And I agree he’s going to the rack with more authority, although he’s having trouble finishing still. He’s still a little small, and there’s nothing he can do about that. Good battle today between him and DJ.

turnovers no big deal

everyone in these summer league games is committing alot of turnovers, just like how everyone is fouling alot. its just a part of how the summer league games are played

by 3Kings650 on Jul 15, 2008 3:25 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

True but still

could be improved by taking better care of the ball… you play summer league to get better not play just to play. Plus I don’t want AR to just be like “everyone” I want him to be the best player in Summer League.

Stop crying about it alright?!?! GO MULLIN.

Watson..

Truly hasnt been that impressive, he definately needs to keep improving, but Im not too worried ,hes gonna be our third stringer at point this year anyways, for a good shooter, free throws isnt his strong suit. Randolph has really looked good and the turnovers isnt too big of an issue, i cant wait to see how good he becomes in the future. Is there anywhere to watch this game online tonight?

One guy says were getting killed? The score is tied!!! DJ a stud? He’s a freakin point guard and he has ZERO, that is ZERO assists! That is hardly a stud! Same thing with Bayless. he has played 2 games now and has ZERO assists. These guys are suppose to be point guards. Last time I chekced that mean passing the ball and getting your team in to its offense. 6’ tall players with ZERO assists do not last long in the NBA!

CJ Watson

had a 7/4 assist to turnover ratio….not very great, but 5 steals is friggin’ fantastic. He was pretty much the main offensive facilitator, while Belinelli was making his own plays without AR hoggin the ball, (in a good way). Plus Watson seemed always to be involved in the plays, whether passing, shooting, stealing or following up on a fast break layup.

So I got home, looked at the boxscore, and see a cat by the name of D. Nelson. Did anyone else do a double take and chuckle at the mental image of Nellie out there on the court? I know it’s summer, and anything can happen and all, but still. You have to wonder how he could ball with a beer in one hand and cigar in the other.

Don Nelson....

...better play Belinelli more this coming season. He’s somewhat proved that he can put the ball in the hoop. I’ve always said he has the potential to be a Ginobilli/Peja hybrid.
