When will we know?
So apparently today is the Lakers last day to match our offer to Turiaf, what time is the deadline for them to match? What are we hearing about this right now? It seems like we will get him. I was on Realgm and it already showed him as being part of our team. How much more would the Lakers have to pay him to match us? Is it between his agent and the Lakers like say his agent says he wont resign for anything less than 1 mill a seaon more, or is it if they pay him an extra 50 bucks he has to resign...anyone know this info?

this offer to Turiaf is kinda strange to me. I mean he seems like an ok role player for us, but i dont understand why the Warriors arent going after free agents a little more experienced. We don’t need anymore forwards, we have Jax/Harrington/Maggette/Wright/Randolph. Nelly is gonna stick with this small-ball crap, so why not go for some big guards like T-Mac or Vince Carter or AI from the Sixers. I hope we keep Monta if not Biedrins. I think Monta is going to be a premiere guard in this league, he already has more than enough hype. but yeah Turiaf? come on Mullin, you gotta have something more up that left sleeve of yours!

Turiaf is gonna get a lot of minutes at center and he’s the only real physical forward on the roster. Jax IS a big guard like you want them to go after, Maggette could also be a big 2.

Hey
The Big markets like LA get to choose who they want and keep and dump the players to us. Clipper got to get Baron and we got to lose Garnett. Management sucks. Instead of praising the Celtics management we should boo the warriors front office.
They offer 100 million for gilbert arenas and offer 80 mil to Garnett. Howdumb is out front office to not get Garnett the chips were there just put it together and make a real investment. Now we are spending more than if we could have actually made a legit offer to Garnett that beat the Celtics.

We didnt get Garnett
Because we didnt want to give up Monta and Andris in the same deal to get him, get over it.

Add to it that we didn’ t have expiring contracts to package to make the cap numbers work. All of our deals were going to saddle Minn with some longer contracts that they’d have to deal with.

Not True
For The Garnett Trade We Could Have Traded O’Bryant, J-Rich, 1st Pick And Al Or Beans. That Was A Better Offer Than The One The Timbs Got From The Celtics. Would You Not Have Traded Beans For KG?

Ummm...
Celtics offer was way better than that. Minny got their pick back this year (#5 I think it was), they got a huge expiring contract, they got a 23YO 20/10 player, and a solid role player in Ryan Gomes. What you’re offering is trash, SG on a long contract, middle-late first rounder (assuming results with KG), and either halfway decent 6th man or young 10/10 guy.
Sorry. You fail.

its not even close. Even with Monta AND Beans I dont know if our offer was better. I dont understand why everyone jumps on McHale…he did the best he could and got a young stud, a high draft pick, and a young role player…its not that bad of a haul for a guy who HAD to be traded.

No
The trade was Biedrins Ellis Harrington and Wright for Garnett, J-Rich was never involved and O’Bryant was not either. Our trade was a shitload better than the T’WOlves

The Celtics also offered up words that didn’t start with capital letters. Minnesota was impressed with this, noting that it’s a pain in the ass to parse the headline style “capitalize every word style”. They thought that this would add to their ability to communicate clearly and as such, made the deal.

LOL.
I heard Garnett was insulted when Mullin wrote kg instead of KG.

The more I look at this (likely) signing, the more I like it. Turiaf is a limited guy offensively, and he fouls a lot, but he’s extremely effective at what he does. Good energy/hustle guy, excellent shot-blocker, and a surprisingly skilled passer. I really think he’ll be a perfect role player for us.

Back to the Question at Hand
Seems like nobody is actually answering the initial question. Everyone is talking about the logic behind the trade but the initial question was WHEN we will know if Turiaf is officially a Warrior or not? I am also curious as to how this works and when this 7 day wait will end?

At midnight...
I’m guessing since he originally singed the offer sheet last Thursday the Lakers have until the end of day today to match, so if nothing turns up and midnight goes by he’ll be the newest Warrior.
It's all about the killer cross-over baby!

Kupchek
was making noise that LAL hadn’t received any official notification of the offer sheet a couple days after it was reported – not sure if he was just tweaking the Dubs management or not, or whether he was trying to buy time to deal with Sasha before having to commit to Turiaf, or even just to keep our cap tied up for a few more days – but we might have a couple more days to wait if Stern’s office sides with him about the paperwork.

Golden State, meanwhile, will learn Friday whether it can finally add Los Angeles Lakers restricted free agent Ronny Turiaf to its roster. The Lakers are widely expected not to match the Warriors’ four-year, $17 million offer sheet to the energetic power forward with promising center Andrew Bynum scheduled to rejoin the team in training camp and partner with Pau Gasol on L.A.’s front line.

Could Turiaf Be the New Captain
On the Bench? I think so. I think the W’s are overpaying him a little bit, but hes a good player to have cause he’ll bang with those other fowards of the league that kill us all the time. I.E. Paul Millsap, Jason Maxiell, Brandon Bass, etc.

When will we know
The Garnett thing required two okays. McHale and Garnett wanted a team that had something besides him, or why leave Minn? Brand went to Phil! for less than we offered. Posey was overpaid by NO, and they were hot last year. There are limited places that top players are willing to discount themselves. We are not yet one of those. But maybe by 2010 we will be strong enough and some of the traditional destinations will have weakened. As with our own lives, there are few instant cures. Enjoy the journey.
