AB flying urgently to CA. deal's done?

Hi, just read in Latvian sports portal, that Biedrins (who is in Latvia with National team) has been called up to go back urgent to CA. IMHO That means, that the negotiations have been ended and the new contract just must be signed. The other thing is - Warriors will not add any more "big" FA or RFA, because besides veteran minimum (which, of course can always be used) there will be no cap space left.

Interesting, though I don’t know why they couldn’t get the contract signed without him in California. I’ve fedexed packages to Estonia for signatures. I can’t imagine that it’s much more difficult to get it to Latvia.

maybe i m not an expert

but i really have doubts that there are a lot of contracts in NBA history with fedexed player signature
presence of AB maybe isn’t so necessary -but IMO -if would have sign some contract about millions -i would never fedex my signature

Yeah, methinks that’s the type of thing you’d want to sign in person, not so much out of concern for security but just ‘cos it’s good form. You know: eye contact, firm handshake, ceremonial drinks afterwards, etc. I mean, why the heck not — it’s not like either party should be worried about the cost of a first-class ticket from Riga to SF.

Seems like I may have to change my sig quote soon…

after all what Mullin said -how much hee likes Andris and that this resigning is his priority
after all what Andris said -how much he likes play for Nelson -how much he likes Bay area -how important for him is to keep develop in this system

-if this is one of key signings this year -presence of Andris most likely is just act of decorum

Mullin sends Beans a contract for 6 years @ vet’s minimum and someone in Latvia steals the document, signs it, and sends it back.

kind of (he is the first true Latvian NBA player – there was one before named Guntars Vetra, but he wasn’t an impact player and he kind of betrayed Latvia in early nineties, but that is whole another story) – there are lot of his (and now Warriors’ as well) back there, who watch games online at 4.00am (including me) before job, school etc. There difference between him and Ginobili is, that he hasn’t won anything with the National team yet. For you maybe it is weird, but outside America the players are mostly judged by what they have done for their NT not clubs.

actually the thing we write here is pretty much damaged Latvian – we use internet style, that is a little bit more readable (but not understandable) for foreigner because it excludes such letters as ā,č,ū,ī,ļ and so on. And the pronunciation is quite different as well.

P.S. Andris Biedrins name with Latvian letters is written like this – Andris Biedriņš.

Well if it's true

That means, with Evans deal falling through. Because he decided he wanted more money after originally agrred top the contract. Unless they have came to a deal. The warriors only option would be to retain Buike, cause we wont have the room if Biedrens is signed. But we can wait to match Buike three more days cause he is our player.

We don’t get the MLE this year because we were under the cap. If you have cap-space you have to choose between using your cap-space or taking the MLE. Obviously we chose to use our cap-space.

He said that after we sign Andris we will be over the CAP, that would mean that we are done dealing in the FA market. The fact that we have his Bird rights allows us to sign him without concern for being over the cap, but his salary would still push us over and keep us from making any other signings (excluding other players who’s Bird or early bird rights we hold). maybe there are some problems with times, tenses, articles, prepositions, sentence construction etc., but I am pretty sure that the spelling is O.K. But yeah – American English is not my native language, but still I think that I am quite good at it. I understand, that you speak, read and write fluently in 4 or 5 foreign languages, what allows you to go after people like me who ain’t so good, so I will just stop writing and start learning English grammar again till I get it till perfection.

an extension could have been signed any time, in fact it was in our best interests to put this off until all other roster moves (KAz, etc.) were done

if we’re “done” and this is an extension that’s disappointing …

But

this could be a S&T – which would explain the urgency of the return to CA better than an extension would since his new team would want a physical, plus the paper work

A sign and trade would kill the cap space as much as signing an extension.

Once either Evans is actually aboard or Azubuike is kept, that kills the cap room, bringing what we have left into the space that it’s not appreciably different from the vet minimum and gives us a pretty full load of contracts.

On a serious note, your “friend” decided to call someone dumb when he himself is the one that didn’t “get it”. Maybe he is a good guy, but some humility would be nice. I’ve read his other FanPost and it’s pretty clear that he is a little confused on the rules of the CBA but he doesn’t seem to have a problem making attacks when he sees what he perceives as a misinterpretation of the CBA.
