12...13...14...15?
So we lost a few players -> signed a few new ones -> had some new and exciting faces in the summer league games. Is it addition by subtraction as JAE suggested? Let's assume Kosta returns, Monta, and Beans sign up to pay Nellie-ball in 2009...
Who is number 15? Do we go with a summer league player (Morrow - great offense - Deadeye from 3 - or Jamont Gordon (another point -lefty - got 20 last game) or someone else?
What if Kosta stays abroad? Can you think of two players? Remember the cap and luxury tax. Option Zero…We liked him! Where is his excel spreadsheet when GSOM needs it?
Is there another "active trade" on the board for us? Who?
Come on GSOM...show us what you got

question
had you ever heard of him before the summer league?

There is not a requirement to have 15 players under contract. There is a requirement to have 12, and you can have up to 15.

Cap figures
For what it’s worth, I’ve got a spreadsheet that I’d be glad to post with the cap figures I’m working with. I’m still using estimates for Maggs, Perovic (for some reason, I can’t find hard numbers, but believe it’s about 1.8 million, plus or minus a couple 100k), and the provisional Evans under that scenario. But the numbers are close enough to get a very good idea of where we stand.
The short answer is that either Azubuike or Evans takes up any real cap space left, as it brings it down so close to the vet min that it’s essentially the same as having no cap space.
After that, there’s something close to 22 million for next year to fit in Biedrins and Monta and stay under the tax.
If anyone knows of a clean way to upload the figures somewhere, post and let me know. Cutting and pasting makes a huge mess.

approximately speaking
if we signed Evans first, then matched KAz, why couldn’t we go right up to the luxury threshold for the RFAs?

We could, but we’d have that much less to offer Biedrins and Monta. $3mil for Azubuike would be $3 mil that Monta and Biedrins aren’t given. From the perspective of “if we can get them to accept it” that’s fine, but I suspect that they don’t want to take the chance that either decide to take the QO in that stead.
The issue is that Evans and Azubuike very much duplicate each other. They aren’t completely identical, but they’re close enough and would compete for the same minutes. There’s no reason to pay 5-6 mil for the minutes you’d fill for at most $3 mil. It also fills the roster with zero room for the emergency replacement min salary player or the hope-filled rookie walk on.

According to the vast majority of the posters here...
That “hope-filled rookie walk on” is exactly what this team needs. Hendrix? Jamont Gordon? ANTHONY MORROW!!!! They’re all rearing and ready to take starters’ minutes. Sign them up already Mullin!
We’ll see what happens, but clearly the “Evans is signed” RUMOR has been debunked because there’s been nothing posted by the Warriors franchise to substantiate this claim. When do they have to make a decision on Buke?

Screen-cap?
Can you open up the spread-sheet and take a screen capture pic, crop it and post it as a jpg. That’s what OZ used to do with his. It worked pretty well.
