Harrington Demanding trade according to ESPN
According to ESPN Al Harrington is requesting to be traded. I am not an ESPN insider so I cant look at this, but I also heard it on ESPN radio this morning. They basically said that Al is tired of hearing his name in trade rumors and that he knows the Warriors dont want him anymore so he just wants to be traded to a place where he will be welcomed.
This FanPost is a submission from a member of the mighty Golden State of Mind community. While we're all here to throw up that W, these words do not necessarily reflect the views of the GSoM Crew. Still, chances are the preceding post is Unstoppable Baby!

No
It doesn’t say that at all. ESPN says Harrington demanding a trade? The key is the question mark. If you actually read the article, the only reference to Harrington is the asking of Mullin yesterday if Harrington was demanding a trade. To which Mullin basically says, no, I’ve talked to him. He’s doing fine. He’s a big part of this team.
Read your article before you put a link saying he’s demanding a trade.

Mullin basically says,. He’s a big part of this team.
How many days before the JRich trade did Mullin say there’s no way he’d trade Jason?

Probably a few more days...
than the number of days between when Baron said he “will be a Warrior next year, write it down” and he agreed with the Clips…
Good point.

hahahah thank you… I was just going to bring up the jrich thing…. what do you want GM’s to say when one of their players are unhappy???? Of course Mullin is going to say that everything is okay because thats what he wants the media to believe!
by steela2 on Jul 24, 2008 10:07 AM PDT 0 recs
This is what mullin said about J rich before he was traded
“No. We like Jason a lot. His growth, his potential is great and he’s a huge part of our success.”

Stupid Harrington
Everyone knows he’s gonna get traded, he should keep his mouth shut and stop making his value go even lower than what it is…..
by Monta08 on Jul 24, 2008 10:17 AM PDT 0 recs
Why does this drop his value?
We’re under no obligation to trade him, he’s under contract. All this does (if it’s even true, which I doubt) is put the league on notice that Harrington is available. This will get more teams to make offers.
If people keep posting and trying to substantiate a QUESTION from a reporter, I’m gonna just go hibernate until the season starts. This is getting ridiculous.
Hey guys, did you hear Carl Landry is going to Europe? Oh, and Portland is calling their own shots. This is getting crazy, what if Monta goes to Europe? OMFG!!!!

Harrington asked for a trade..
at the end of last season. This is nothing new, he is just getting a litlle more vocal now, since it has not happened yet.
Mullin is gonna say how important he is, to not decrease his value. Teams try to lowball you, when they know you have to move someone.

Harrington asked for a trade..
Al is a pretty good shooter for a big man, would Nellie be that anxious to move him? Wright hasn’t shown a good outside shot has he?

Yea Nellie likes him as
a threat of the bench and Al wants to be a starter at all times. That is why he is unhappy.

KEEP HARRINGTON
this team is complete and we need more solid veterans like Al. plus he’s our best PF right now..i dont think Wright is ready to start yet

i dont think Wright is ready to start yet
neither is al. he is our best pf by default. imo he needs to move on. the same way that dunlevey needed to move on. this just isnt the right fit for al. maybe he would do better on a more half court oriented team or a more established team where his roll is more clearly defined.

He can't just move on...
He needs to be moved by the front office… it’s not like he can just pack up and leave…
Stop crying about it alright?!?! GO MULLIN.

his salary
is the only reason that i think a trade MIGHT be a good idea for the dubz. independent of money, i want al on the team next year. he is experienced, and i have no doubt that he will bounce back from last year’s production. expect 16ppg, over 40% 3PT and solid play, as well as a good influence on our rooks. i also go as far to say he is the best veteran influence on the team right now. seasoned vet, good attitude and not crazy (like turiaf and jax).

Dont get the Harrington hate
Everyone knew what his was capable when he played for Indiana. And mostly everyone on this post was juiced when we finally landed him. He is meeting his expectations (3 point shooter) and now everyone’s turning their backs on him and saying he should be traded.
Thin line between love and hate.
Or my fav: All is fair in love and basketball.
Put a little mustard on it

I feel sooo sorry for Al....
He feels that he’s not wanted!! LOL, give me his salary and you can ‘not want’ me all you want. I’ll sit my not wanted a$$ right on the end of the bench!!!

Maybe they should buy him a soft seat cushion and have a warrior girl rub his back while he watches?

I say move him as well
I was stoked about landing Al at the time also. But, I think people were juiced about the possibility of a young big, oozing with talent, ready to explode under Nellie’s guidance. Unfortunately, in his time here, Al has shown what he is: A talented yet unspectacular big who refuses to get dirty. We can’t build a team with Al as a main component, given his flaws as a player and obvious desire to play on a team that can afford to hide his shortcomings. He simply makes too much money to be a 6’9 spot up shooter. I say we let some other team become enamoured with his “tools” and we go another direction.
No big man?? Poor Baron...sigh.
by xjdempseyx on Jul 24, 2008 1:29 PM PDT 0 recs
I heart AL.
Hopefully he just busts his hump, and has a nice 13 point ppg, and 4.5 rebounds off the bench after BW takes over the starting role after the first month of the season.
by obiandandy on Jul 24, 2008 2:20 PM PDT 0 recs
Nellie
i think Don Nelson deserves a little bit of the blame for al’s decreased production and looking bad on the court. al harrington is built and tries to play like a 4, but often ends up playing more like a 3, but was sometimes asked to run and gun as a 5…
nellie needs to go up to al and say “you’re never going to play center again, so practice your ass off and keep the mentality of a true PF, as a 4”.
i REALLY think if al harrington KNEW his ONE role on the team, he would be very effective for the dubz. it’s his blessing and curse that he is 6’9’’ with the ability to shoot the ball.

I agree with you
Nellie gets a free pass on this site, but in my opinion he deserves some criticism for the way he handles certain players. The best news I have heard in the off season is that Nellie is going to have to play the young guys more. He doesn’t want to but I believe he is being forced into it. I watch other teams and they routinely play young guys who develop and help their teams win. Nellie just wants to run his team into the ground with his 6 or 7 favorite players.

Do not trade Harrington
He will be a player maker in this year’s offense with Baron gone. This guy will show off the skills we saw when we first went after him.
