My Own Opinion Only- 2008 WARRIORS
'm a Warrior Worrier from the late 70's-present, like most of you. I want to see this GSW team do well in light of my exile to Sacramento during their glory years. With reckless envy, I have to endure Purple and White and their obnoxious fans...now to the present.
If Mo Evans won't accept the offer for his services, then match KA's offer sheet. Evans, although a decent defender, is not an offensive player, unlike the explosiveness that KA has.
If the warriors won't match, the go Ben Gordon or Luol Deng (both are natural SGs IMO). We should have gone for Igoudala (rebounding, inside presence, toughness) instead of Turiaf. Remember, Turiaf is a medical risk. This is one reason why the LAL did not offer to match ours, despite what you read about them utilizing the luxury tax clause.
And lastly, Marcus Williams is a decent, backup PG--not a starter. Ellis is not a PG, he is a shooting guard first. IT WILL BE A DISASTER if monta runs the offense. See his playing skills last year. He is best and adept at getting himself open and to the hole.
Having said that:
CJ should be a starter. Invite this kid Anthony Morrow to camp. Randolph will and should head the second unit along with MBellinelli, BWright and hate to say it, Maggette is not a starter material--he is best coming off the bench.
Your starters should be:
CJ Watson--PG, Monta--SG, CapnJack--SF, Harrington--PF (love him or hate him), ABrins-Center
Second unit::
MWilliams- PG, Maggette (SF/SG), Bellinelli (SG), Randolph-SF, BWright (PF), Turiaf-Center
Sorry, as much as I like Hendrix, he's headed to Bakersfield. As for Artest, he can be had for the right price. A tenacious defender, he want out of the Theus system in Sactown, and may be convinced to come to the bay. SJack- you list'n'n?
Comments are welcome...after all we are all: WARRIORS.
Peace

no way cj watson is ready to be starting pg...
we didnt pay maggette that much money to be coming off the bench. and i know monta isnt the ideal point guard, but he can be good. drive and score, or drive and dish. either way the dubs score right? :P

GREAT POST!
finally, someone who’s been around that knows the game. these young kids today think they know it all but cj watson at point guard is a great idea. i remember when everybody, and i mean everybody doubted that gilbert arenas was a starter until he got a break. he proved everyone wrong and now he’s an all star. watson may not be an all star but he’s really solid and he knows how to run a team and has above ave defense. when he substituted for baron last season, the team did not lose a step in the offense so we all know he can play.
Problems with your post
It’s great how you’ve been a fan for so long but this post doesn’t make too much sense.
1. We would have no cap space for gordon or deng
2. Not getting Turiaf would not mean we have any chance at getting iguodala
3. CJ is definitely not a starter
4. Artest is a nutcase
4. Artest is a nutcase
But I think that would play into our advantage… This Warriors team is still in need of an emotional identity… the fire has gone away… who will spark us now? Monta is quiet… Jackson was fired by Baron… Biedrins is quiet… Maggette needs to show his aggressiveness this season and pass around his mojo and get everyone else in the mix of returning to that passionate sense of urgency and desperation.
Btw… for the poster… we just have recently matched the offer to Kaz so you can be happy he’s coming back.
Stop crying about it alright?!?! GO MULLIN.
we need that fire!!!
i wouldnt mind having a nut that is a lock down defender and had one of his best shooting years in 2007
Yeaup and someone that just gets all of us crazy!!!!!!!!!!!
Stop crying about it alright?!?! GO MULLIN.
Biedrins is quiet
Ha, But who could understand a Latvian team leader anyway? HoKay buoys, Ve’s skippin des suzkynick noon,Yayvenderbuden? Sweetch!!

sorry, no
watson is not an nba starting pg. and maggette is making way to much to be a sixth/seventh man. the only real question about the starting lineup is whether it’s gonna be harrington or wright at pf
SO YOU MEAN TO
tell me Manu being a 6th man is a bad idea because he makes too much money?? your salary doesn’t guarantee your position. if that was the case, foyle would have damn near started all the games. once you’re playing, money dont matter. you do what it takes to win. besides, you can be a 6th man and play 40 mins. sometimes its better off that way because your star can come off the bench and play against the other teams second unit which in most cases, are not as good.
i traded Al Harrington for Ron Artest straight up
Maybe time to start another email bombardment of the front office? Seemed to work for Kelenna ?

heres the link
accountservices@gs-warriors.com maybe we should all ask if they could make a deal for dwight howard also since we are all emailing. cant hurt right
lol I really can't tell anymore if we're all still joking around or if people are being serious... lol
Stop crying about it alright?!?! GO MULLIN.
i think both
what about al and jax for lebron and devin brown. the numbers are real close and if they need more we could throw in matt stienmetz and a conditional 3rd round pick. what do you guys think?
Nah Steinmentz Basketball IQ is very very poor I don't think he could play for the Cavs... maybe
A team like the Knicks would appreciate him.
Stop crying about it alright?!?! GO MULLIN.
Quick points:
- Watson is too small and is not starting material. He’s a decent back-up.
- Monta will more than likely be the starting PG, which I’m concerned about. I’m hoping Marcus Williams surprises everyone and somehow becomes the starting PG.
- Although I wouldn’t shed a tear if Al was traded, I wouldn’t mind if we kept him either. He’s the only 3point shooting big we have and that’s needed with this system. He is very inconsistant though.
- I think, or rather hope, Anthony Randolf changes Nellie’s personal rookie rule. There’s only one rookie that Nellie ever gave huge minutes to and his name is Dirk.
- I’m excited, not just about this season but the ones that follow. If our young talent pans out we’ll be a strong young team in the West.
- Are current jerseys are ugly.

How old was Dirk in his rookie year? How much did he weigh? What was his previous basketball experience?

WRONG
“huge minutes” to dirk his rookie season was 20 min/game for 47 games. nellie played mitch richmond, tim hardaway and chris webber much more during their rookie years—in fact they were full time starters.
this doesn’t mean anything in terms of randolph (i do think he should play quite a bit) but just wanted to get the facts straight.
and randolph wears 4 and webber wore 4 both on the warriors and webber was probably the last rookie nellie gave “huge minutes” to, so maybe randolph will get significant run? haha yea right—enough of that stretch…

i'm with everyone else...
And lastly, Marcus Williams is a decent, backup PG—not a starter.
fair enough… yet CJ Watson has proved soo much more that he should be a starter? huh?
Ellis is not a PG, he is a shooting guard first. IT WILL BE A DISASTER if monta runs the offense.
monta will “BE A DISASTER” running the offense but CJ will be better? come again?
everyone is right that we didn’t pay maggette to be a bench player. you might be right that he is better as an “energy” guy off the bench, but that is on a quality team with all-star level players at SF/SG. On this warriors team, there is no way that maggette should be coming off the bench.
no offense, but i’m glad you’re not coaching this team
HE NEEDS A CHANCE
rafer wasn’t considered a starter, look at him now. michael redd wasnt also. what about arenas? people said nash couldnt run a team. look at all of them now. STARTERS. if you’re in the nba, that means you have game. one of the best players in the world. sometimes all they need is consistent minutes so they show what they got. dont doubt cj watson. he’s in the same position as all these guys. oh yeah, stephen jackson wasn’t suppose to make an nba team, let along be a starter.
Yeah, no one said Steve Logan could make it either!
Or Will Bynum!
Or Aaron Miles!
Or (post-comeback) Dajuan Wagner!
Or Luis Flores!
Or JR Bremer!
Or Rusty LaRue!
Or Jiri Welsch!
Or AJ Guyton!
Or Dean Oliver!
Or Paul McPherson!
Or Chris Garner!
Or….

ALL THESE GUYS
played behind good point guards. cj watson is playing behind monta who isn’t a real point so he has a greater chance to be better than these guys. TAKE THAT B
Whoops
The end of your post got cut off — it shows up as just a question mark in a blue square.
TAKE THAT, BEAUTIFUL MAN?
TAKE THAT, BRAINY FELLOW?
TAKE THAT, BRILLIANT ONE?
;-)
Actually, not everyone on that list played behind good point guards: a few of them played behind Speedy Claxton. The point is that cherrypicking a few guys who succeeded despite low expectations, while ignoring those who didn’t, is kind of a silly game. The odds against CJ Watson becoming a legit NBA point guard are l-o-n-g.
I’m also not sure Stephen Jackson is the best example to support your argument: he was pretty highly touted as a prep at basketball factory Oak Hill Academy (former home of ‘Melo, Durant, and Beasley, among others). If he hadn’t been ruled academically ineligible, he likely would have gone to a top NCAA program and been a first round pick.
[Jackson] prepped at Lincoln High School in Port Arthur before transferring to Oak Hill Academy (Virginia) where he earned All-America honors in 1996. He was the leading scorer in the 1996 McDonald’s All-American game, on a team that included Kobe Bryant, Jermaine O’Neal and Tim Thomas.

Still Scared
Good post kyliekotmo. Your points are bold, but in my opinion pretty spot on.
1.Monta will be as huge a part of the success or lack of success as much as BD had been for the past 2 years. If the team has some struggles, Monta might be a big reason why-he isn’t a PG and that is scary.
2. Monta isn’t a PG, but CJ is. Does that mean CJ should start? No, but should Williams take his place? Yet another reason to be scared-who the f*ck is our PG, QB, conductor, CEO, Big Boss Tycoon, Head Hancho? Time will tell, but I don’t like the idea of Monta running the show.
3. I think at this point of free agency, we need to keep Al considering there isn’t too much on the market. Artest is like Marbury in my book-too much of a risk. Artest is interesting, but stay away from him. Al may have a little fire in him this year to show that he is a solid player for the team.
4. Play the “Young Guns” for Christ sake. I’d love to see a line up of Monta, Beli, Randolph, Wright and Andris. Throw in Williams and Morrow too. We need to play the young’ins and get them some experience. Speaking of experience, Hendrix better not go down to Bakersfield, but with the little amount of room we have on the roster, Hendrix might get sent down.
