Just for fun

this is a bit far-fetched because the season hasnt started, so before anyone starts criticizing remember "its just for fun".

what do you think the projected western conf. playoff order will be for the 08-09 season?

with all the changes coming around i think the order will be relatively similar, but i still think there will be definite changes. here is my take on it:

1. Lakers

2. New Orleans

3. Utah

4. Houston

5. San Antonio

6. Portland

7. Phoenix

8. Golden State

that would leave Denver and Dallas falling short.

I feel that LA and New Orleans will keep their 1 and 2 slots. Utah will take the 3rd spot. Houston will be increasingly better than last year w/ the addition of Artest. Yao+McGrady+Artest is a pretty scary combo imo. San Antonio is still good but they are growing older and the teams are getting better. Portland will be dramatically better w/a healthy Oden, Bayless, and Fernandez. Phoenix will drop. They appeared to be worse towards the end of the season when Shaq arrived. They haven't made much changes in the off season as well (except for Barnes). This leaves the dubs taking the last slot in the playoffs, outlasting denver and dallas.

A little higher up...

I think the Warriors could be more like the 5th or 6th seed this year. Although they lost a great point guard, Baron’s play wasn’t even good by the end of last season, and helped us out of the playoffs. Our team is actually overall stronger this year than it was last year, and if we come as determined as we should be after last years disappointing ending, we should win about 54 or 55 games, if not more, since teams like Utah can’t kill us anymore. I don’t think Houston’s going to be as high as everyone thinks now either, though Artest does make them better. And San Antonio might shock the world and end up in the 8th spot in an ever improving Western conference.

Hadn't seen this post...

I listed my top 8 in a post about Houston’s signing.

My top 6 are the same as yours, and then I thought we’d be fighting with Phoenix, Dallas, and maybe Denver for the last 2 spots. I don’t see us being higher than a 7 seed, and I could just as easily see us missing the playoffs.

So I think you’re about right on. I think how much Phoenix and Dallas drop is the big question mark….if they drop.

that seems close to right

i’d have san antonio ahead of houston still, but those two could go either way. i think the warriors will struggle enough at the start of the season while the figure the new lineup out to make them a more likely 9 than 8. 7 or 8 is not out of the question though, as phoenix could easily miss out and dallas and denver do not impress me at all this year. the west is clearly weaker at the bottom half this year, so there’s all sorts of hope for a playoff run in the bay.

Clippers

The clips have to be in the playoffs somewhere like 6 cuz they got a lot of fa’s and now they got a stacked starting lineup with baron camby and caveman leading the way

i

actually disagree. i think the clippers are far from making the playoffs. i still think dallas will most likely take 9 and denver possibly 10. that would be the likeliest scenario. if anything clippers will be 11. MAYBE MAYBE if they get lucky 10.

The Clips aren't going anywhere!

They are the Clips. Baron will nto play 82 games and Camby is on his last legs and Caveman? Come on. We are a much better team. Ther Clips will win 38 games. So I do not think 38-44 will get you in the playoffs.
