Are we done dealing?
I hope not. i hope that we make at least one more deal. we need another big man. imo we cant start the season with al starting at the 4. we have seen what he can do. we know what he is capable of and what he is not. do we really want to see another year of al harrington roller coaster ride. i know dont.
i know that alot of you guyus are on the jsmith bandwagon and see him as the guy to turn us back into a playoff caliber team or contendorship(not a real word but sounds cool. thanks cjwatson23). i personaly dont see that move happening. i also dont think that our young guys are ready yet either. unless the right deal comes along i dont think that mully would trade any of the young guys(bw or ar).
the only thing i can come up with is we start turiaf at pf and make a deal for a big to back him and beans up. like a theo ratliff, antonio mcdyess, nazr mohammad type of player. someone who doesnt need to start and can share time with the young guys. the likely hood of us trading for a marquee pf are as slim as bw and ar.
mully has done a pretty good job so far of addressing some issues this off season. some may argue the this persons overpaid, so n so sucks or we gave up to much for this guy. whatever point is he brought in people that he felt would help make us better. i just hope that he's not done dealing yet.

I guess I'll start this off...
by saying that’s a terrible idea. What happened to our run and gun? Why would turiaf be better at pf than harrington?
by kinetic on Jul 30, 2008 4:29 PM PDT 0 recs
because he won’t take those stupid fast break 3’s and ruin our momentum. Don’t you guys remember Nellie publicly saying that Harrington would ruin our rallies over and over again by clanking all those jump shots and 3 pointers…UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH…Turiaf would atleast take it to the hole and draw a foul AND make his free throws.

I literally...
do not remember harrington ever taking a fast break. I remember Baron and Jackson doing it constantly, but not Harrington.
Turiaf can drive to the hole?

what turiaf will do is
be active in the paint, rebound maybe evan block a shot or 2 and those were things that al didnt or couldnt do and i think thats what drove nellie crazy

naw
Harrington wil be a good starting PF
plus hes only gonna play maybe 25 minutes a game cuz we’re gonna be playing Wright alot more, and turiaf will get some time in at PF too….harrington can spread the floor and create space in the lane for monta and maggette to drive

Nellie's
system needs as many shooters as he can get.
But I’m not sure how much time Wright’s gonna get. I’ve read that Nellie really hates him.

nellie doesnt like Wright
cuz he’s as big as a thunder stick. he will get boxed out by a sg and that would make any coach crazy

HAHA
He said THUNDER STICK!!! Actually, you can put him next to AR and then you’ll have 2 THUNDER STICKS to bang together..more than likely while they’re riding the pine! =P

Heres what i started thinking
I, as much as anybody, would like to see a josh smith deal go down, but obviously its gonna be a long shot and would probably require a third team.
I think we need to keep our eyes and ears open this offseason and if we can’t make a deal like that happen we might as well just keep Al for now. With Baron gone there shoudl be more shots to go around. I say we play him 30 min a game til the deadline and see if we can pad his stats a little bit to make him a little more tradeable and get rid of him at the deadline.
If nothing comes there, maybe we can use him to trade up in the draft to go after one of the guards in next years draft
also, can we please get AR, BW, and Biedrins on Corey Maggette’s workout plan/diet
by scwarrior24 on Jul 30, 2008 4:56 PM PDT 0 recs
Maggette's workout plan
I don’t remember where I heard this but I think it was a commentator on TNT who had mentioned that Maggette told him that he doesn’t lift weights and that his build is natural. I found this very hard to believe as did the commentator that mentioned it. Unless Corey is on the Barry Bonds health plan, he has to be lifting weights all the time. Either that or he is an absolute freak of nature. They might want to see if they can splice Maggette’s genes onto Randolph and Wright.
I don’t lift weights either and I look more like I have Brandan Wright’s arms and legs with Don Nelson’s gut.

Al doesn’t fit particularly well into our plans, but he has his uses in Nellieball, and he’ll have some real trade value in a year. I don’t think we need to move him for the sake of moving him.
The only risk with keeping Al is that it could preclude Wright’s development. In a somewhat transitional year like this one, it’d be really useful to get a sense of what we have in Wright—whether or not we see him as a building block, how much trade value he might have, stuff like that. It’ll be a real missed opportunity if Wright doesn’t get 20 minutes a game this year. But Nellie’s not a huge Al fan, and we’re not that deep in the front court, so I think Wright should get some run even if Al stays.

Well I would be the first to say yes to al/Bwright for J-smoove, but given the highly unlikeliness of this happening....
I like Al, and think if he gets more minutes at PF rather than center his stats go way up, I think he has finally gotten into shape, and I truly believe he could flourish at PF, Al’s been averaging 27 minutes a game, that still leaves plenty of minutes for BW, and I Believe Al shows up this year if allowed to play like a PF. my 2 cents…

I still think we should move TMNT if we can...
But definetly not for a longer contract, for the sake of making the change, unless it’s someone exceptional, such as J-Smoove or even AK-47. I dont think the numbers quite match up to acquire AK-47 with TMNT’s contract, but it comes to the decision being made before training camp whether TMNT is going to be the starting power forward and given the confidence to know that he’s got it locked up, or whether Nellie’s going to rotate the hell out of the position, publicly undermine TMNT and unsettle him moreso than he already is. B-Wright needs to step up to the plate and get his minutes regardless, but I’d be a lot happier seeing him do that behind someone like AK-47 or Smoove than behind TMNT.

I actually agree with the idea of starting Turiaf next to Biedrins. I do believe Harrington and Wright should be seeing more minutes on the floor than Turiaf; but Turiaf needs to be in there as much as possible against the opposing teams’ best post players. That’s the whole reason we got Turiaf: to play tough defense in the post, block shots, and deny rebounds from their big men. I’m not worried about Turiaf’s offensive shortcomings with him in the starting lineup either; Ellis, Jackson, and Maggette will be able to carry the offense. As Nelson has said before, Harrington would be at his best as an offensive spark of the bench and not having to bang with the other team’s biggest and best. As for Wright, he’d be best suited for playing next to Turiaf.

This is on everyone's minds..
the whole Al situation, especially with the trade rumors and his supposed request for a trade… however there are very few options that would put us in a better situation and a lot that would put us in a worst situation. Al is still a good player, he can run and fits into our offense, not to mention he already knows the plays. But of the few guys that would fit, only 1 is seriously available, (Josh Smith), which is a long shot… and then another one is going to be hard to get b/c his team would require too much (I’m talkin about SHEED baby!)
Let’s start a smaller scale, humbler movement: The ‘Sheed Movement. I feel his rebounding, defense, ability to run and hit the 3, not to mention his veteran leadership and BALLS would be perfect for mentoring the young’ens and carrying us into the playoffs this upcoming season.

antonio mcdyess is a great suggestion not only can he be a starter he can shoot good

TMNT
Maybe we should just ask Al to wear the beard this season? If this team is going to win Jax and Al will hafta step up, Magette is a newcomer and most of the other players are too young to be leaders.
