Oklahoma City Barons?

this doesnt have anything to do with the warriors, but i thought it was interesting. i came across this yesterday...don't know how legitimate this is, but it looks pretty real to me. I guess oklahoma city settled with the name "Barons". Their colors will be black/white/gold.

i just wanted to know how much anyone knows about this, or if anyone has heard about it at all...how do you guys feel about the jerseys? i think they look pretty good to me.

i also hear that the kings, magic, and t-wolves are unveiling new uniforms for the 08-09 season....exciting.

the more of those i see

the more it baffles me that they would want to include ‘city’ in the name. the knicks aren’t the new york city knicks, and there’s a reason for that. it sounds clunky and dumb. all of the names suggested made me think that same thing, “it sounds clunky and dumb.” i guess they owners didn’t want to rip off the sooners, but if you’re worried about getting confused with the local college team, it’s a bad sign for the franchise.

Colleges have been going around suing high schools like crazy lately for using the same or a similar logo. So okc already has enough lawsuits on their hands after all there back room deals on the move.

But i do agree on the "it sounds clunky and dumb” A similar thought came to my mind when I first saw it.

i'm sure that

the sooners don’t have the name ‘oklahoma’ trademarked. if that’s possible call up the university of minnesota, they have could have a lawsuit lined up against the twins, vikings, wolves, and the terribly named “wild.”

yeah i was aware that oklahoma city was going to pick “thunder” as their name and all the controversy with “thunder” being the “warriors” yadidadada….
i also initially thought that the “barons” pictures were a fraud and fake…and some fan that was realllly good at photoshop just decided to entertain folks…however what caught me off guard into thinking that these were legitimate was the Oklahoma City news site…announcing that the team colors were going to be Gold/Black/White

Those uniforms look great but it is not official yet, they just narrowed the choices down to four names.

Personally, I think that Barons is the best name and that is probably what they will choose. However, I won’t mind if they choose the OKC Thunder because then the Warriors will have to change their jerseys to get that lightning bolt off. its about time

trade for Baron Davis?

Why not just make Baron Davis their mascot? He can do the halftime show or dance with the cheerleaders. After his wheels completely give out he’d have a job for the rest of his life as a mascot. ;)
