Warriors talking to Maggette/Summer League Roster

ttp://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/07/04/SPV611JS76.DTL

Golden State has reached out to forward Corey Maggette, another Clippers free agent, according to two league sources. The Warriors are one of the few teams who can offer Maggette more than the mid-level exception, which is expected to be around $5.6 million when the new cap figures are released.

Here we go, looks like the Warriors are talking to Maggette now.  He's fine, let's go for him, but nothing ridiculous that could hurt us financially cuz this guy is barely a starter.  Not saying he's not good, he's real cool and he didn't like Dunleavy Sr. anyways so I'm sure he'd be great under Nellie playing for their rival... just let's not get too emotional in trying to get him you know?

FYI Summer League Roster/Lineup:

Summer league set: Assistant coach Keith Smart's roster for the Las Vegas summer league beginning July 11 will be highlighted by draft picks Anthony Randolph and Richard Hendrix, as well as incumbents Brandan Wright, Marco Belinelli and C.J. Watson. Free-agent invitees include former Kings guard Louis Amundson and undrafted Duke guard DeMarcus Nelson.

UPDATE:

Before you get excited, Maggette is almost set on going to Boston! LOL.   This summer is sucking.

yeah

if you read enough on these boards you might just think that al is the most valuable guy on the trading block, not just for the warriors, but in the whole league.

PLEASE!!!! DO NOT OVERPAY MAGGETTE!

The guy has some mystical ora about him that says “I’m a selfish player!” Like Atma said in another post, he would be an good addition as a 2nd or 3rd scorer, but he’s definitely not worth more than what the Clips gave him a few years ago (7 yrs – $50 mil). I’m not sure that I’d even consider him to be worth that much.

Honestly… just go after Iggy or Smith (Iggy preferably… because his game could match up w/ Monta’s in the backcourt) and let’s move on.

Maggette will go where the money is and we can offer him more then boston can.

I don’t think Maggette is interested in being a 4th option either.

Amundson

is not a guard…

He’s a good rebounding forward. Guy summer league, hustle guy.

Yeah…what’s up with all the Maggette hype? Iggy, Smith, Deng, or Okafor are far better options. I guess it’s that Maggs is unrestricted, others restricted.

I think it might be a good time to look at moving the cap’n for some help.
