Sixers interested in Andris - Maggette finalizing with Spurs

Here's another one to watch out for in this summer of HELL. The Sixers, after considering Josh Smith are also looking at Andris. Yes he's restricted but still, just the possibility that someone could snatch him and that our team could be collapsing before our eyes is hard to stomach.

The others on the Sixers' radar, include Los Angeles Clippers' unrestricted free agent Corey Maggette and two restricted free agents, Golden State's Andris Biedrins and New Jersey's Nenad Krstic.

And by the way, sources are also saying that Maggette is finishing a deal up with the Spurs:

Maggette, who opted out of a $7 million contract, has been popping up all over the league as a possible acquisition, although his agent, Rob Pelinka, has not commented publicly; the San Antonio Express-News indicated the Spurs were close to a deal.

I wouldn't be so sure though because I found that article (http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/basketball/nba/spurs/stories/MYSA070408_SpursMaggette.en.1f4e7bd9.html) which was assuming that the Magic were (who were heavily courting Maggette) had considered Maggette second to Chris Duhon... who just signed with the Knicks! i wouldnt worry about Andris

We can pay a lot more than Philly. They may just be trying to distract us/drive up Andris’ price to try to drive us out of the J-Smoov sweepstakes.

Yeah

Philly already has a decent starting center, why would they want to overpay someone to warm up their bench? Smoke screen here.

Or maybe they will try to get him to sign an offer sheet and pray that GS matches.

Oh

And adding Maggette made the Spurs dangerous again. Definitely. He’s not the defender than Bruce Bowen is, but he gives them some much needed scoring.
